@fox3phoenix811 agreed will be a good one f5's and a4's play the aggressors in both red flag and top gun because they have similar flight characteristics of migs
Nice video! But isn't it a bit weird the Mig-25 didn't shoot way earlier? If i remember correctly the R-40R should have a decent range? On Wikipedia it states it has a operational range 50-80 km (31-50 mi). (I know it doesn't factor in speed and altitude but i think it should still have fired way earlier?)
In theory yes. I do not know how good the MiG-25s radar is. I suspect it is about on par with the F4s. Meaning it is not super reliable but in theory it should work. He probably lost lock on me while i manuevered.
@@fox3phoenix811its quite poor. The PD variant has a detection range of 71km for 5m² target and lock on it achieved at 55km. The P variant has a detection range of 65km and lock on of 45km of the same sized target. This is for high altitude co alt or lookup in the high altitude mode. If using medium, low altitude modes or generally it's quite poor honestly.
Though generally the pilot is instructed to fire around 40km. When saihoud shot down the f18, he fired at 38km. When you read the manual, this is the figure givenm
@@mamo4731 On the other hand the F-4E with the APQ-120 barely could lock-on a target at a range bigger than 50Km. Only the German and the Greek upgraded F-4E/ICE and F-4E/AUP with the APG-65GY radar could have a range of more than 100Km. APQ-120 was a poor performing radar even in its hey-day. Some day DCS will restore realism in this feature. The recommended missile for the F-4E was the AIM-7E-4 missile with a range of 44Km.
@@catfood_03_4stray somewhat evenly matched in radar but the F4 has the lookup advantage. If it tried to engage a mig 25 it would probably get shot down doing so, the 7F might do the job. E-4(3)s were for the F14As.
In fact the APQ-120 had real trouble with the clutter below the horizon. All the F-4 opponents could break the lock-on with a dive towards the ground and the sparrows would go ballistic. Iraqi MiG-23 and Mirage-F1 pilots gave the F-4E a great beating during the Iran-Iraq war. In some future update DCS may restore realism in this feature.
I believe it! Although the Mirage F1 doesn't have great look down shoot down either. Still I think it has a better radar than the F-4E. The F-4 though is fast and can carry a lot of missiles!

So the aim 7m (mediocre) sparrow as we've discussed never got beyond that the aim 9 on the other hand was at least serviceable even in the beginning and is even still in service today and I'd say a Dam good missile

Как всегда эпично но ракетный бой это так скучно и не интересно. Нужно - несомненно, зрелищьно - нет. АвиаБои второй мировой войны это как бой на мечах, ближний бой холодным оружием, ещё 300лет назад, во времена Суворова, в Русской армии говорили:"... Пуля дура, а Штык молодец!!!". А тут, радар сам нашёл, ракета сама захватила цель и всё это на удалении. Вспомните первую мировую войну 1914год, при всей мощи того оружия, она стала пазиционой, войска перестали сходиться в ближний бой, стреляли издалека, всё встало, пока Танк не появился на поле боя, дав возможность сойтись войскам в ближний бой. Так и в небе, сначало стреляли из личного оружия, а с появлением пулемёта сошлись в ближний бой. Я это к чему!? Как думаете, когда оружие авиации дальнего боя перестанет быть эфективным, каким станет воздушный бой??????
Теперь о истории Миг-25. Когда ваш U-2 изучили наши инженеры, был создан Миг-25, с одной задачей перехватывать любые цели на больших высотах, теперь эту задачу но с более широкими возможностями, выполняет Миг-31. На момент угона, предателем Миг-25 в Японию, это был самый быстрый и самый высотный перехватчик в Мире. Не знаю что там вам рассказывают но у нас всё было просто, если самолёт не способен выполнять поставленную задачу, ни кто не будет его делать серийно. Он либо может и его делают, либо нет. И тогда ни кто не будет тратить бюджет на не нужный самолёт. Вот как было в СССР. Надеюсь друзья вам было интересно мнение с другой стороны земного шара. Спасибо за интересные бои!!! Но ближний бой на пушках гораздо круче😁💪👍.

Thanks for watching anyways! MiG25 is a great plane in its own rights.
To my knowledge, the Mig-25 was created primarily to counter the at the time in-development XB-70 project the USAF was working on (Since U-2 was already vulnerable to systems like S-75 and especially S-200). Since it would fly so high and fast, the fear was the USSR's current interceptors of Mig-21 and Mig-23 may not be able to effectively deal with a Mach-3 bomber at super high altitudes. Therefore, there was a rush to create an interceptor capable of dealing with such a bomber, resulting in Mig-25. But then the XB-70 never materialized, and the USSR was left with an interceptor (Albeit a very good one for 1970) that really couldn't do anything besides go very fast. Later on, the Mig-31 was created to polish out the compromises made in Mig-25 in the name of quick R&D to create an interceptor that could do the same job as Mig-25 more efficiently, and stand and swing with the likes of F-14 and F-15, which had rapidly rendered the Mig-25 a second-rate fighter.
