Tour busses 🙄🤦‍♂️fix the road too support that ,the deeper u go into the valley the influx of people and vehicles does impact the farmers and there way of life ,horses on the road with cars don't sound good for the horses and off roading through the streams which feed the farms ,tourist equal rubbish everywhere, its a sacred valley not a tourist attraction 🤦‍♂️u ask kohala ,Hawi how the tourist have ruined pololu valley with thousands of tourist and rubbish all over the place ,there's no respect too locals and the aina ...I've seen it first hand because my great grandparents came from Kohala and I get family in waipio valley thats farming Kalo and love the way they live without being bombarded...smfh...

Speaking from someone who has experienced road closures that has blocked off an entire neighborhood, it makes zero sense to allow only some and not everyone down in waipio valley, and the stream. This goes for residence, non-residents, tour, buses, four-wheel-drive, and hikers. Everyone, repeat everyone has a right to enjoy the trail and beach. It is a beach and waterfront. Everybody in Hawaii, Kama aina and haole, Has a right to enjoy that waterfront. I am haole, and I NEVER disrespect let alone touch or trespass especially what’s sacred. , and it was a wonderful learning experience . If trespassing is an issue, they obviously have no problem calling the police. Let’s cut it out and leave well enough alone.

Isn't it illegal for that group to block the road like that?

With so many having recreational vehicles and four wheel drives if you want evidence of lack of monitoring go and look at KALAE ” SOUTHPOINT “ Not just tourist but our known local people many just looking for place to enjoy because so many places have been block to access not realizing the place is getting torn up . Worse for waipio is the road is not safe but go ahead and have a few private tour business making money for themselves just as tita said going up and down as what happens when you vote politicians who wasn’t even raised here , I can name many from the past who no longer live here but went back to where they came from thank God, who make decisions for places your 2 feet hasn’t even attempted to walk ! Under the rule of America you have devastated our islands , turning it into an American nightmare

I first went into the valley on my first visit to this beautiful island. The beauty was so intense, it was nearly a spiritual experience for me. Whenever i go into nature, whether in my own backyard , or across the world, I ALWAYS try to leave it cleaner when i leave. I always have a trash bag or 2 with me and have no problem spending a few hours picking up trash. I have always taught this to my children as well. We are guests in these beautiful places. How would anyone like a bunch of strangers trashing your backyards? Tour vans are a bit ridiculous on that road. The 3-4 times i have been there, i have always been in a 4x4 jeep. Sometimes there was someone at the top to prevent people from trying it with a regular car. How about charging a fee for the tourists with 4x4s to use the road, and giving the money raised to the locals and maintain the road? i`d gladly pay $50 to spend the day there.

lol... steepest road in world, drops 900' elev in 6/10th mile... the 'bus' is really a 4x4 van.. the road is a patchwork of all kine cement asphalt with carved traction lines and moss and mud and slippery and narrow and potholes etc. its chit! then bottom is many blocks of the largest worst muddy potholes on BI... before you get to small beach that is cut off from main beach by river mouth... iow too many peeps in small beach area and too many go illegal hiking in back valley waterfall looking tresspasskine... short A: make everyone walk, or just take pics from top like 99% do...

Yes I agree to keep tourists out but to keep us other Hawaiian residents out is crazy. Unless all of them can prove there history and connection there from our ancestors! I would not push the issue more then just tourist!

the farmers and land owners in Waipio don't want no one accessing the road including locals. You need to walk in and out.
