I went car camping in the woods in my van. First time seeing a black bear in the wild. Woke up to rain. This was my tenth time van camping.

@@TolbersCamping I respect you for doing the sensible things that keep you the safest that you can be. Just makes good sense to me. Very mature. A lot of people think keeping ourselves safe means we're terrified all the time, but that's not so. Caution just makes sense. I've always wondered at the people who say that, when a horrendous murder happens in some small town, that they don't know what's happened, that people always left their doors unlocked and nothing bad ever happened. I grew up in the city in NJ and from the time I was very little, I knew that locked doors made sense-- and those were in the times that there was very little crime and danger around. It even made sense when I was very little, to stay safer. I wasn't afraid then, either. In reality, the people who lived where they kept their homes unlocked, were never actually safe-they were just fortunate that nothing evil had ever stopped at their houses. My husband was a pilot (He's retired, now.) as his career and flew over the Gulf of Mexico and several other places in the US and he was away on his work hitch, every other week, for a week at a time, so I held down the fort. I wasn't afraid, though I had two children to take care of and watch out for. I would ask God to watch over my husband, his crew and his passengers and keep them all safe and I would ask God to watch over us and keep us safe from the evil one, as well. So far, He has and I am so thankful for that. Enough for now. God bless you and yours.

I used to see bears all the time up in northern WI on Madeline island on lake superior. There's a pretty camp site up there and depending on the time of year you go you can be totally secluded. Just found your channel an hour ago and have been binging. I like you guys. I'm honestly someone who hates most people lol I don't really hate them, just what they do, but you guys are good people. I can tell. Not idiots.

Black bears don't attack or hurt people. The few accidents have been when getting too close to their cubs. Your chances of being killed by a domestic dog, bees, or lightning are vastly greater, and your chances of being murdered are 60,000 times greater. Fun fact, look it up! 😉
I’m sure, but a bear still ain’t something to mess with and I just like to be prepared.

You should keep bear spray strapped on your hip everytime you walk out of your van. Bears are very quiet. They can be up on you before you're able to run

your vids are enjoyable to watch. The places you go to are very pretty. for your set up, it would be cool to have another netting/tent set up on your slide door area so you can have that open without worrying about bugs, etc. and give you some more 'tent space,' if you will... I love the simplicity of how you do your van camping.... I, for one, when you say, "Let's get into the safe van, you shut the door and lock it...." and have your protection, yeah, lol, that would be me, too lol... only way I'd feel safe out there by myself.

Not going to lie man. Your last name is boss and manly. Its had the kind od ring to it like its somebody big and very capable. Somebody who has been around the block and knows his stuff
When on a multi day trip I use coffee maker with power station then pour hot coffee in a thermos. Keeps hot all day and is actually still warm next morning. ( if any left 😜) Just saves the power station.
Definitely the way to go!

Too funny that you had Braunschweiger on your toast. We used to get a big slice of it with our potatoes as a side and beans I think when I was a kid in Germany. Never thought putting it on toast but I will try it. Happen to have some. I love the tail veil. I have to get me one. Too bad they are expensive. Seems like there are so many bugs where you were. That’s annoying! I love the idea of putting a puzzle together while you’re out there in the screened in room. Cool video! And cool that you saw a bear.

I made sure to put the window shades on so no peeking at me lol. I sleep on the cot and I have watched a movie but generally like the peace of a good book when out there. The fan felt so good
I would want to see out just a little spot. In case you hear a noise. But I'm sure you do that too .
I sleep with the fan on ,even in the winter. Its white noise .

FYI about vehicle attached tents. Just about all leak a little where they attach to the car, nature of the beast. If it's going to severely rain while using one, a lot of folk will double up with a tarp set up over all. They are great for keeping the bugs out!
First time watching, subscribed. Nice set up. I have been going in and out of different stores, when I see things for camping I pick them up. Need to order some things. Have seen that back car room add on before. Thanks for showing how it all works. I have an SUV. Think of getting a hightop work truck. Not a large one. That green was beautiful. Love being out i. The fresh air. Always sleep better out in the air like that. God Bless.

Thanks Lance, mine has to be a quick temporary setup as it’s still my family’s main vehicle driving the week. Not sure if yours will be a permanent setup, but if it can I’m sure you can make it really nice
You can deter predators from entering your camp site with a portable electric bear fence. Small kit that brings huge peace of mind.
For sure want to use something like that more up north where there are more bears. My buddy just bought one of those strings that pull a shotgun blank that should alert us and scare away a bear hopefully
