Thanks! No wonder it was so hard to find something that explained this simply, because it's falling-off-a-log easy. Thanks for demonstrating how to fall off a log.
Great video! Just purchased the mini pro and your videos have been so helpful. When you mentioned connecting a usb c hub, (at 2:16) does that mean I can connect my phone for the data connection and a ssd for recording? In other words can I record to a ssd and use my phone as the data connection via the same port.
Hi Tim, Can you please help me! When i used a lightning cable USB-C (IPhone 12 charger) to connect with my IPhone 8. It doesn’t show me the Icon light on my Atem Screen? Do I need to setup or download any software on my IPhone 8 or on my PC? Please help me. Thank you very much!
1) How is the lag or latency compared to using a traditional camera? 2) Is the video quality degraded at all? 3) If I'm not live streaming, would it still need to use the internet? Thanks.
1) latency depends on the cameras image processing but typical for HDMI is 0.02 to 0.08 ms. some phones take longer to encode the video out. you can resync audio in the ATEM software control 2) there is some compression. I wouldn't rely on it for a feature film but for streaming its very good. miles ahead of any actual webcam 3) not at all - I normally use my ATEM to record multicam for post editing, just to speed up workflow.
Please help me Tim! Why i buy an original iPhone 12 charge cable for connect Atem mini pro with my IPhone but it doesn’t word. I didn’t see blue icon on Atem screen? What is that going on? What do i need to do on my PC and iPhone. Please help me. Thank you very much!
Hi Giorgiusi - Great question! Basically the hardware to support this functionality inside the ATEM wasn't a feature of the original design. It was added to the later ATEMs in response to user requests, and enabled once they were happy with the reliability. Some feature can be added as software / firmware updates, other features require specialised hardware support - as in this case
Sadly not all android phones behave the same - there are so many variations on the phone tech. It has also been noted that some providers SIM cards don’t play nice with data devices.
Hiya! Thanks for posting. I'm not sure what you're meaning here. If you're asking about teathering 1 phone for internet and using 3 more for cameras, then yes you can do that If you're asking about teathering a set of phones as a bonded connection for greater bandwidth there are devices that can do that.
if the on-air is flashing on the ATEM this means that it's having trouble connecting to the target streaming platform. This could be because the stream key is wrong, or because the upstream speed is too slow. As a start I suggest downloading an app called "Speed Test" from OOKLA and checkign the upstream speed of your connection. Also check in the ATEM software control under Output > LiveStream > Quality - make sure this is set to one of the "Streaming XXXXX" options.

Yes it does, you can have a couple of SSDs attached. I'm waiting for one to arrive to give it a go myself.

Where in the work flow were you measuring the data rate?
@@TimSimpson In the Atem Mini Pro area that says ON AIR... DATA RATE Mb/s, in your video at 3:46 you have 35.16 on TH-cam.

Great video, short and sweet!!!!
That’s the way to do it. A lot of creators put in too much fluff. I’ve been learning that keeping vids tighter gets more views in the long run
Does this same setup work with my android and my Hotspot - I will not have ethernet available at the Venue. appreciate a reply.
Can you do this with a wireless hotspots?
Hello There! Nice video! Godbless!!!

Why can't this be done on regular ATEM mini?
Hi Giorgiusi - Great question! Basically the hardware to support this functionality inside the ATEM wasn't a feature of the original design. It was added to the later ATEMs in response to user requests, and enabled once they were happy with the reliability.

So you're telling me I could have done this yesterday in the field 😥 😱😧😲😮
In a nutshell … yeah :p
Does anyone know how much data a hr of streaming would be?
Hey MMC - I’ll test this and post a new vid for it soon
@@TimSimpson respect thx man

Not working on Android 13 (Pixel 7 pro). Update: Android 14 and new 9.5 Atem firmware still not working.

@@TimSimpson I'm hoping other TH-camr that says has the same phone comes to a solution. He says he can do it.
@@jf_blanco see if he is on same cell company and plan.
@@TimSimpson He is @AJaytheCEO don't think he can be on same plan. I'm in Spain and have got an unlimited 5g high speed data plan from Vodafone.
