Tommy DeVito turned the QB position around at Illinois. He has swagger and was accurate. Altmyer is not DeVito, but if he does as well, Illini fans will have a good feeling during each game.
Brendan Peters was serviceable at Illinois. He was good in 2019, but lost his mojo ever since the pandemic. Tommy Devito brought much needed stability to the quarterback position at Illinois. I am sad to see that I won’t be able to watch Altmyer in Memorial Stadium next year, but I believe him plus the stacked returning receivers is going to make Illinois a dangerous passing attack next year.
I’m a sipp state fan after playing illinois in the bowl game I was so impressed with Illinois.. I think illinois will make it to the big 10 championships this year..The defense is big and physical and y’all have that WR that’s unstoppable.. lmao

Don’t sleep on Illinois next year. Offense should be better if Altmyer plays well and their development is elite so even losing a lot on defense don’t be surprised if they’re pretty damn good again.

While none of us can ever know, I believe in my heart that Luke would have done better with the Ole Miss offense than Dart did, and I believe Kiffin had more faith in Luke. However, this was the year Kiffin established himself as the "portal king," and bringing in a former 5-star from USC only to bench him would have done irrepariable damage to his future portal goals. I think Lane felt obligated to make Dart QB1. I hope so much that Luke tears it up and gets to the NFL.
Illinois has a sneaky tough early schedule. Toledo is no joke and at KU. Kansas will be hard to beat at home. FAU won’t be a cakewalk then PennSt. Tough schedule.
Altmyer so far reads like another Brandon Peters. Great size, smart, good arm but on field success is a question mark. To be honest at Illinois having another Brandon Peters for 3 years would be a pretty significant win compared to what they have historically had over the last couple decades. If he can develop into even an average B10 starter he should be able to support the dominant Illinois defense to some great seasons.
