- What new types of arrows are you hoping to see in Tears of the Kingdom?
In the recent gameplay demonstration for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Mr. Aonuma showcased a few of Link's new abilities, including the "Fuse" ability. This new ability allows Link to, among other things, create new types of arrows by fusing them with materials from his inventory. In this video, we talk about which arrows will definitely be returning and speculate about 5 new types of arrows that we could see in Tears of the Kingdom.
I wonder if link could accidentally use fuse to fuse his arm or something to a tree, and then just be stuck forever

Bomb Arrows and Bombs do return, I saw from the You Tuber Zeltik that you can collect Bomb Flowers which were a thing since Ocarina of Time's release and you can even harvest them in Skyward Sword and carry them around, the same happens in TotK
Yes, I’ve seen that! I made this video before that had been confirmed.
5:00 A ChuChu Jelly Arrow would be super useful. Once, when I was playing Breath of the Wild, it was night time and I came across an entire camp of sleeping enemies that was way to high level for me take down at that point (Silver & Black Bokos & Moblins), so instead of taking them head on I tried to do something clever. I snuck into the camp and dropped a single, regular ChuChu Jelly right next to one of the Moblins, snuck back out, shot the Jelly with an arrow which got the Moblin wet, (Yes, that can happen, I found out by accident earlier in my play through) then shot the Moblin with a Shock Arrow. An electrical explosion took out all the black monsters and did heavy damage to the rest, enough damage that it only took one more shock arrow to the (still wet) Moblin to take them all out! I got a bunch of gems and high level weapons that helped me out a lot. It was really cool that what I thought up worked and nowadays I sometimes do it just for fun, and if I can do something similar with these arrows in Tears of the Kingdom, there's no way I'm not going to do it!
I love how much Breath of the Wild rewarded resourcefulness like this. It’s such a good game.
One thing I thought up a while ago was that, while Ancient Arrows are undoubtedly gone, fusing Diamonds to Arrows may have a similar effect. We've seen Rubies, Sapphires, and Topaz in action creating huge elemental blasts on the level of something like Flare from the Final Fantasy games. In BOTW, these were used in jewelry that granted Link Warmth, Cooling, or Electrical Resistance through their elemental charge. This included Diamond, which provided Guardian Resist Up. What resists Guardians? Ancient Power What kills them? Also Ancient Power.
Thusly, I feel like it's only logical for Diamonds to create a colossal Ancient burst bigger than even regular Ancient Arrows. The most expensive item in the game trades out for the best attack in the game, it's only the law of equivalent exchange.
Someone else in the comments said something similar, and I agree. It’s a fantastic use for diamonds.
Well, considering how we've recently been shown Link Fusing a ruby to an arrow to create a Fire Arrow (just a more potent one), I believe all the gemstones will have powerful effects when fused with arrows. All gems (except Luminous Stones) are stated to have some kind of elemental property in Breath of the Wild. Some directly, others in the descriptions of items made with them: Amber is "Land", Opal is Water, Topaz is Electricity, Ruby is Fire, Sapphire is Ice, and Diamond is Light. I have no idea what a "Land Arrow" would do, but with diamonds counting as "Light Element", It's very likely that Diamonds will be the material to use to create the equivalent to Ancient Arrows. It makes sense, since Diamonds are so rare and valuable. Maybe dragon horn shards will be able to create even stronger elemental arrows, since we had three elemental dragons in BOTW.
I kind of suspect that Amber is more like the “basic” gemstone, since it’s used in upgrading gear that doesn’t really have secondary effects (such as the soldier’s armor and the amber earrings). I would anticipate that amber will be part of a class of items that just make the arrows stronger. But I really like the idea that Diamonds will be used to make this game’s “Ancient Arrows,” especially since it will help keep them rare!
@@LionsShareYT I was hoping I could fuse boulders to my arrows. Hitting an enemy with a boulder arrow would send them flying back. To knock them off platforms or off the sky island to their doom. Spiked balls would do the same but, with more damage dealt.
That "would" be cool. But, apparently you can't fuse boulders to arrows.
@@Psychof1st yeah, I think it’s because the fused arrows don’t get added to your inventory. So if you cancel your shot before firing, you would just completely despawn whatever overworld item you had attached to your arrow.
Great video!!! So excellently polished and very interesting all throughout! I think I’m most excited for fusing arrows with eyes and the like for really weird advantages in combat, not just hunting.
Yeah, those homing arrows definitely will be super useful for combat, too!

An idea I just came up with: Arrow + Star Fragment = Light Arrow. Considering how rare and expensive Star Fragments are, to use one as an arrow material, seems like you don't want to miss from a very long distance.

By the way, bomb arrows are actually going back there’s something called bomb flowers that were in the presentation of someone playing And they fused it to the arrow, and it worked.
Yep! I saw that a few days ago, too! That was after I made this video though. I’m glad the solution is bomb flowers because that’s the perfect way to bring back bomb arrows with this new mechanic.

Thanks! I was pretty stoked about being right! They also showed an arrow in a trailer that lights up dark areas, but it used a new flower, not a luminous stone. I’m curious to see if the luminous stone will do that too, though.

Since it seems like the common enemies drop these charges as a loot drop, it sounds to me like the equivalent of bokoblin guts in botw. This probably makes ancient arrows a bit too easy to make.

You never know maybe it would be a nerfed ancient arrow and you could need bigger ones because we saw a big construct in the trailer so maybe a zonai charge will be a very weak one and a bigger one will be stronger or require an upgraded fuse
@@Jad_memes I like the idea of a weaker Ancient Arrow. Maybe it doesn’t one-shot enemies, but it’s “super effective” against Zonai enemies.
Is there literally anything on how to actually do the fusing? The game doesn’t teach you how. I’ve already learned the fuse ability and I’m wondering if I just can’t do it to arrows until later??
I don’t know, but I would guess that you hold up on the D-pad while you have your bow out

in terms of bomb arrows, the only explosive we have seen in Tears of the Kingdom is against the luminous stone Talus. Link does a forward flip with a fused "bomb" lance in what appears to be the underground or a cave section. Instead of the blue from botw, the bomb glows the zonai blueish green colour before impact
Good point! I didn’t think about that. I think that “cannon” will only be fuse-able with weapons and shields, but there could be something else we can fuse with arrows.

i think octorock eyeballs will have a different effect, keeses can fly, octorocks cannot. i have no clue what else it could do but i dont think it'd be the same
It’s a fair point. I considered it, but I decided that the “homing” aspect came from the fact that it’s fused with an eyeball, not because it’s a keese eyeball. But you absolutely could be right! Time will tell, I suppose.

@@akira_kom I don't have any confirmation about Luminous Stones, but there was a trailer that showed off someone shooting an arrow with a glowing flower of some kind that they used to illuminate a dark cave.

Secondly, that’s a cool idea! I thought about Octorok Balloons, but I didn’t think about them attaching to the enemy.

The game is great and all but the rupee downgrade😔😔 I was rlly looking forward to getting loads fnruppees I got so used to being looted it was strange starting fresh with everything new but it was a neat experience
Yeah, I’ve found rupees a lot harder to come by because I want to save so many of my items for fusing.
