I picked this KXF80 for $200 as a little project, supposedly had a new piston in it, guy said the crank bearings were probably bad as it was growly down low in the motor. So here is a 3 week journey and what I all found wrong.
The piston was scored, the cylinder was scored, the crank bearings and seals were very bad/trash, the front clutch rollers were worn and shot, the rear clutch was froze, the shoes were worn off and broken, and the 3 little pins were worn in half. I did end up dumping another 500 into it, I think it came to, thats including another set of plastics I found locally for $120.
So without knowing any better, I did a cheapo $120 piston/rings/bearing/cylinder/head/stud chinese kit on it, so far so good, but time will tell if it lasts. It did have the factory cylinder on it, so if the current setup fails, Ill get the stocker bored and go with a wiseco piston kit. So far so good, fingers crossed.
I also changed out the factory fuel petcock to one that wont fill the cylinder with gas, another issue with these things. Mine already had the oiling system bypassed, so I premix my fuel.
GPS with me it does 30mph on the road, it has good power, I can wheelie it and enjoy it, even though its kinda small, its like a 4 wheel pit bike!
Hello bro, a question, I have the same Suzuki LT 80 and when I press the start button the relay makes a noise and it doesn't start and I don't know if it's buying a new relay or checking the wiring or the battery is already about to discharge or is missing. charge so that it has more power and makes the relay pull and it can start, can you please help me.😢😢

Do the crank case have oil if so what kind
When you put the crank in did you press the bearings onto the crank first or did you put them in the case currently rebuilding one don't want to screw it up
Hmm, I wish I could remember, but I would guess they go on the crank first? Sorry.

Do you install two circlips in piston?
Trying to remember, its been so long ago, for the wrist pin? I think one clip goes per side if I remember correctly.

@@klearman9612Well, you can put one in one side, but you have to put the pin in before putting the second one in place, thats what keeps the pin in the piston.

I’ve had one since my oldest was lil
And now that the youngest would b old enough to ride
I can’t get damn thing to turn over
I’ve put new starter , relay , battery .
And pushed the lil button on the back right side
But when I hit the button it jus clicks.
It was wicked lol ride few year ago jus has set.
Any ideas what could b would b very appreciated
Try hooking the battery straight to the starter? Have to start bypassing things until you find the problem. Make sure the grounds are good.

I think motor may b locked
Gonna try take the side of case off where
The pull rope would go see if can turn motor over with a socket n ratchet

I did like the engine has a stuck spot I can move it either way until one point and it sticks
So I’ve got plug out letting transmission fluid set on top the piston to see if will help loosing anything
If helps I’ll jus have drain oil with fresh oil
@@bubhunt420mfr Thats not good, take off the belt/clutch side, maybe something in there is wrong. Thats easy to do before digging into the motor
I have the Service Manual but in the Electrical System section 5-1 for the CDI it refers to the BASE MANUAL. What is a Base Manual and where do I find it? I’m trying to get this exact ATV running, that my late husband purchased, so I can sell it. Thanks
What are you trying to figure out on it?
It starts but won’t turn over.
I did get it to start last year after putting in new battery, reed valve assembly/reeds/gasket, new OEM carburetor/O-rings, air filter, fuel filter, plug, plus I rebuilt the top end. I only use Kawasaki Syn 2 stroke oil and non-ethanol gas (100% on pump). Husband bought at local police sale with only 10 hours of riding time. He had the same problem for years and local shop can’t figure it out. I put in a new ignition coil yesterday still won’t run. I do have spark.
I read that your supposed to put the choke down after it starts- when I do this it dies.
I’m trying to figure out if I need a new cdi
@@GApawpawandnana choke is only needed for a cold start, once its running turn it off.

Nope! Came apart easy
