    May I just say that your channel has been so incredibly supportive and uplifting to me during my postpartum experience! Love that you keep it real. I had my baby girl Magnolia on 12/11 and it’s nice to hear you reflect on how Jackson is developing and how you’re doing as well. I love your channel, thanks for sharing, and best wishes to you and your family on your move to Virginia!

    Our dr said to us that patting the back while burbing for reflux babies isn't the best, because it can make the air bubbles small and create gas for the baby. I didn't know this and when I switches to like smoothing his back with my palm while burbing, we had so much less gas. 😊

    Hi Kayla! thanks for sharing your postpartum journey. Can you share some more of the stuff you learned from the sleep course? Or is that not allowed? My baby girl just turned 1 month and I have been working on getting her on a schedule and sleeping in her bassinet. When she tuned 3 weeks, I also started the eat, play, sleep routine and trying to get her to sleep in her bassinet (with the doc a tot). I just focused on taking every nap in the bassinet so she could understand that is where you sleep and she has been doing pretty well, I just stayed consistent. I also introduced the pacifier even though she doesn’t take it unless she is really upset. In the beginning, I would just rock the bassinet or pat her or give her a pacifier until she fell asleep (sometimes it took awhile). I also put her down after an hour of awake time. I try to avoid the overtiredness because that’s when we run into trouble. Now, after a little more than a week I can swaddle her, turn on her white noise machine and lie her in her doc a tot in her bassinet and she will fall straight to sleep 🙌🏾. I am honestly very surprised because I tried this same thing with my son but it never worked and I gave up. But I think I started it a little later maybe 6 weeks with him. Now we both are getting longer stretches of sleep 3 to 4 hours and there is less struggle at night being up all night trying to get her to sleep. The only thing we are struggling with now a lot of times in the day she will wake up after 30 minutes and I have to get her back to sleep. Also, we are struggling with her breastfeeding because I have a strong let down and she unlatches so trying to get her to get a full feeding in can take some time because it requires me to have to relatch multiple time through the nursing session.

    • @manaarzaki
      @manaarzaki 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also have a similar issue with the letdown...my right breast has a strong letdown so some feeds she is good, or she will take that breast and then mid feed refuse it, or reject that breast all together

    • @yojs17_
      @yojs17_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Manaar Zaki It is a struggle and I find it more when I am really full but it is both breast. Last pregnancy it was just my left and that ultimately became the “slacker boob” which produced less milk because myself and my son preferred not to nurse on that side.

    My daughter had really bad acid reflux to to the point that she would stop breathing sometimes because of the pain. I was breastfreeding so I had to cut out all dairy and soy for months till I could slowly add them back into my diet. We also had to keep her in an upright position for at least 15 minutes after each feeding. I'm not sure if these tips will help you at all

    I have 4 kids all close in age . My 2nd and 3rd are two years apart . I prepared her during pregnancy we read big sister books . When he came we just kept telling her it's her baby too and asked her to "help" . I would have her and her sister sit with me on couch when I fed him etc. I just got them involved and it helped a lot with jealousy.

    I feel you with the constantly at sink washing pump parts and bottles. Jackson looks like Riley when he makes his faces 🥰 so cute. Sounds like Riley has just hit the ‘terrible twos’ but have you though of giving her one-on-one time away from Jackson so she isn’t having to share you even if just ten mins (I know this would be hard to do when you move) . I don’t know if you have answered this before and I’m sure you get this question a lot so feel free not to answer but have you got a number in your head for kids you want and has the changed since you found out you are moving away from your support network?

      Teri Gaile congratulations. However my 5 cents, enjoy being married for a little bit. Enjoy each other and love each other. Have fun together. I got married in September 2017 and we got pregnant last year. I think that was nice time together as newly married couple. Because things do change a little. We have been together for 12 years this year, however the newly married phase was nice. Cause let me tell you once you get pregnant, things will get interesting. I've been hormonal and it's been a little rough at times. It can get challenging because with pregnancy you're embarking on a whole new life change. BUT that's my 5cents. So at the end obviously do whatever works for you guys.

    Thank you for making all the videos you have. I like that you're local, I'm in Broward. Anyway I'm 35 weeks along with my baby boy and am taking your recommendations on a lot of things since I'm clueless. I have a few questions if you don't mind. I don't recall seeing anything about when your babies finally flipped, my boy is still breech. I know a lot of women say he could flip once labor starts. Just wondering about your experience. And I'm wondering if you tried any other dock-a-tot similar items before purchasing that one. That thing is ridiculously priced for what it is so what makes it so special? Thanks in advance. Keep up the good work momma.

    It will be awkward for Raleigh when you move because she is used to having your mum taking a lot of care of her while you are having so much trouble with little Jackson, so she will have a lot more change when you move. My heart goes out to you, lol but you have a lovely family. Good luck. ❤️❤️😁😁😁

    My son (who had reflux) wasn’t fond of doing the tummy time either at the beginning. Now at 7 months, thats all he wanna do, even tho he spills often, still burps etc, it doesn’t bother him anymore and he loves to play on his tummy rather than sitting. So dont worry about that/about the medicine: i live in Germany and as someone else also mentioned before, here they don’t treat reflux with medicine as long as baby is gaining weight. So i would be staying away of the medicine if he is gaining weight steadily.

    Your son is a replica of my daughter with all of his “issues”, like everything! Even down to the umbilical hernia! Lol. Crazy, and yeah those first few weeks of her life were a nightmare to say the least. Your son you said doesn’t seem to have a protein allergy though- where as my daughters gassiness and being generally uncomfortable went way down after starting Nutromigean formula or whatever it’s called lol. So it definitely helped my daughter. I did read that while taking that formula you don’t want to give them probiotics for some reason- apparently the two together isn’t good??🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

    Im glad that you and baby Jackson are doing well. Hopefully sweet Riley will adjust soon. ❤FYI ladies, you can STILL get pregnant even when you are exclusively breastfeeding. Cessation of periods does not mean that you won't get pregnant. You can still ovulate and get pregnant.

    Oh, thank you for opening with him smiling and wiggling a normal wiggle (not writhing in pain) on the sofa with you. What a joy to see since he's going through so much, though coming out of it a bit now. Tell Jackson he has a fan club that cheers him on when he poops. And we will all pray that Riley continues to take one good nap for you until summer or closer to age 3, so you can get Jackson situated and get your new home put together a bit. By age 3 she should be out of the tantrum phase and you can still put her down for quiet time in her room that could turn into napping, so that you have that breather midday and she has that encouragement to nap for those days when she is overtired when she goes for her quiet time. Yes, you want to keep him being more comfortable, less miserable because he's the one who suffers through all these pains and pushing. Colicky babies get better in a couple of months. He is adorable and you don't want him to develop sleep or eating issues based upon his pain in eliminating or after eating. I love it when some babies, often boys, furrow their brows as though they liked where they had just spent 9 months and aren't quite sure about this whole new place they got thrust into. It cracks me up. It's like everything is being evaluated by them in case when they figure it out they don't really approve. It is like a little old man. Let us know right away if he starts watching the Weather Channel. LOL. Do the tummy time for his head and his rolling over, but he has gained some strength from you wearing him and holding him on your chest and pushing back or up to look at you. Plus he has to learn about all the fun locomotion he can achieve from a belly position on the floor. He has had trouble being in pain due to his belly on his back, so it makes a bit of sense that on his belly may not be the best. In a way it's good if he's hungry later in the day because that will help prepare him to cluster feed enough to learn to sleep through longer periods at night without awakening to feed. He has lengthened his time between feedings during the day a bit, so that's on schedule. What a blessing if he pooped in the morning because you have a better chance of a good day with him. Don't know what that means about how he will feel during the night if he's getting clogged with poop and a back-up of gas. Your daytime cycle for him is right on point now that he is not in the constant discomfort he was in. Don't know what you can do about night until you know he is no longer suffering the colicky problems and that his discomforts aren't building in the night because he is not pooping until morning. But, thank God, he has some pretty good awake time with you during the day to play and smile and talk with you. One of the reasons to be sure you resolve the belly issues is so they do not lead to sleep, feeding issues because of the discomfort he's been fighting. All he knows is the various levels of discomfort. He may have discomfort lying on many surfaces due to the belly/bowel issues. He is not old enough to be manipulating you. He is a little animal who is frightened when he is in pain or just crying from hunger. That is how he gets what he needs to survive and it may be his whole digestive tract for some reason is not handling well not being sort of vertical due to the help gravity is to eliminations of gas or solids or liquids, rather than flat. The swing is tilted a bit, so that may have something to do with why he's able to sleep in there now once he's gone to sleep. Riley needs to be told when she is speaking to you or your mother inappropriately. She has every right to her feelings, but she cannot be allowed to be rude or obstructive of things getting done that must get done. She is allowed to say NO she doesn't want to eat lunch or NO she doesn't want to share her toys, which are not the right age appropriateness for Jackson anyway. But she cannot be permitted to develop bad behavioral habits that are ignored and will not go away on their own just because the tantrums stop. She seems quite good with him. And all toddlers are little roughnecks sometimes so have to be watched like hawks with babies because they do not remember to be gentle and not literally smother them in kisses unless you are there to remind them in the moment. You have to be the bad guy if need be. It is not your job to be her friend. It is not your job to worry if she will love you enough to keep you comfortable. She will love you and you two will be close, but she has to have you provide parenting and limitations of acceptable behavior. She is learning now. It's too late when she's older. She will have to be nice to you to get treats, benefits of your attention, etc. She cannot be rewarded for bad behavior. When you get to Virginia, you will be her only source of the things she wants (needs are obviously separate) during the day since Joe will be at work and your family will be in Florida. So, you can use that leverage to begin getting the behavior and language (please, thank you et al) out of her before you grant her wishes. And she has to stay nice. If she gets mean then the game is over and she can be quiet, go into time-out, or go to her room until she feels happy to come back to supper or whatever with everyone else. Her curiosity will get the better of her in most circumstances and send her back among people. We can tell you are doing well. You sometimes look tired, but you are clearly relatively calm about this being the way things are for the moment. This too shall pass. All things considered, you look great. And little cutie is lying there next to you moving and making cute little sounds and faces like a normal, happy infant and not like one who is wracked with colic. Good to see.

      I think it does? My son is 6 weeks old and I started vitamin d drops and he had like some serious diarrhea for a few days.. that's crazy! I thought it was something I ate and I even tried googling it to see if the drops bother their tummys. But instead Im going to take higher levels of vitamin d myself rather than chancing that again!
