    I misbought carbon arrows with 500 spine for my 35-40# horse bow. Turned out it weighs 750 grains and too heavy for my bow. Don't forget to look up the arrow weight guys. Don't be like me.

    The Easton 630 inspire has been the best carbon arrows I've shot from a 30 lbs horse-bow. I don't have any clue about the logistics of things, all I know is that it's dead straight during flight.

    This is awesome information, Armin... Thank you for posting, it'll be helpful for me I'm sure as someone who is very new to the Asiatic recurve bow. I have a question that I hope you can help me with, if you'd be so kind. I've recently acquired a Chinese made Crimean Tartar bow, it's my first Asiatic recurve bow. There was no guidance that came with it, however, so I have no idea what the brace height should be. The bow measures approx. 135cm in length strung, 80cm draw length and it's 40# draw weight (at 80cm I would assume). The bow is fiberglass with wooden 'horns'. Could you give me an idea what brace height should be safe for this size of bow? I appreciate your help in advance.

    Great video as always! I've been wanting to get into archery for a while and your videos are what finally made me decide to do it. Just a quick question about horsebows, though. I'm planning on buying the 30# at 32" Genghis Khan from Alibow; based on this video I should get 33" arrows. However, I'm not very tall (only about 5'5) will I be able to draw it up to the full 32" or should I get shorter arrows? Also, would you recommend the wood or bamboo arrows from Alibow? Sorry for all the questions and thanks again for all the great videos!

    • @ArminHirmer
      @ArminHirmer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi. Thanks first of all. Take the wood arrows in 33" as they will be just fine. Bamboo would be too heavy. Enjoy shooting

    • @nosoymuyoriginal
      @nosoymuyoriginal 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Armin Hirmer Hi again! I followed your advice and got the wood arrows from Alibow. The bow and the arrows arrived yesterday but, since I've never used wood arrows before I wanted to ask you something: is it normal for the nocks to be too wide for the string? The only way I am able to draw without the arrows falling off is with your thumb draw method where you use the index finger to apply pressure to the arrow. Any other way (normal thumb draw, Mediterranean, etc.) they fall off.

    I just ordered a Mongolian "horse bow" recurve bow, and I'm looking for arrows to use with it. It's my first time with a "horse bow". If you use modern arrows with plastic fletching, does it work with a horse bow? Or does it throw the arrow off due to the stiff fletching hitting your hand? Do I need arrows with actual feathers? For a 30lb bow, arrows about 30" long, and target tips, what spine would you recommend? 300, 400, 500? Do you want it to bend around the bow, or do you want it to be more stiff? Thanks for you help. I've enjoyed watching some of your videos. Thanks.

If I'm shooting 200 grain tips (I like the weight up front), what's a good starting point for arrow spine for a 30" draw on a 35 lb. bow? The bow is 35 lbs. at 30". I appreciate it.

    Hey Armin, thanks for the video, I had been waiting for this one for a while :D
    You've done a lot of bow reviews, but I can't remember arrow reviews. I suppose it makes sense, arrows aren't nearly as interesting to unbox and and review.
    Anyhow, I went for standard wooden arrows from alibow, broke a few of them, either hitting a wall (... Yeah. I've done brighter things than put a target in front of a wall without a net..) or having the shaft hit a tree sideways and break.
    I've read in a few places that bamboo is a lot sturdier, and more resilient to damage.
    Alibow sells bamboo for the same price as wood, but bamboo is apparently a lot harder to manufacture. Have you had experience with their bamboo arrows ? (I'm thinking of getting bamboo arrows for myself and the club)
    Also, I've noticed you draw your bow is a non parallel manner to the ground. Not saying you shouldn't at all, nor criticising, just wondering, because World Archery has a few rules that define safe shooting. Obviously, you don't seem to be affiliated with WA, for a few reasons, but if that's the case, how do you manage to get insurance to cover both your ranges ?

    • @ArminHirmer
      @ArminHirmer  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bamboo is simply a bit heavier than wood. So not too good for low draw weight. Other than that awesome.
      And yes you are right, I have nothing to do with "sports" archery as WA. I continue my "martial art" archery :)

      many have this problem. On Sunday one of my students shot his wood arrows with thumb release, his arrows were wobbling crazy. I shot with his bow and his arrows - straight.
