I wonder how many other people have decided to start learning about this dream of archery during this strange corona house arrest time - haha - I feel like for sure when I get my bow and get started I am going to progress fairly easily because of these amazing videos - Armin is clearly a natural teacher - and these videos are amazing - very generous sharing, Armin!!!! Glad I discovered you and I am enjoying all these videos - My archery school during the "pandemic"
Kristen Williams hii 👋🏼😅 *someone who started during quarantene* here. Nah, well, it was a dream since quiet some time and now needed more hobbies. Where I live is soooo much forest and nature, so I started to shoot 3D targets. I got a takedown bow and with the 3D cube target, it fits easily in/on my hiking backbag. So when I see a nice location I tie the cube somewhere and shoot. Armin‘s videos helped me more then any else to learn how to get more accurate and find a technique that fits for me ^.^
Ninja RaVen wow that’s awesome I could totally do the same here in vt since there are a lot woods near me as well thanks for the tip that sounds like fun!!!
I just started a little less than a week ago.. I’m currently in quay for another week yet. Someone on a local archery group recommended I watch this guy’s videos.. I have not been sorry for doing so yet.
I just found your channel and I appreciate and respect your attitude of “this is my way and my opinion, not the only way or the so called right way” thank you
The more of your videos I'm watching, the more I'm thinking about relocation to Malta. Seriously, each of your videos is like +10 for knowledge and + 5 for wisdom.
Holy macarel, this makes a big difference for me! Arrows are flying straighter and penetrating deeper. Also feels more natural than trying to not move the bow arm at all. Thank you so much for the video on this.
Watching this at 1:30am and learning. As a visual learning this is such great work Armin. I mean it when I say you are in a class of your own, when it comes to Archers on YT. There is no sugar coating things, you don't tell people they can't do this or can't do that. You show what can be done and then tell us how you prefer or how you do things. There are a lot of archers on the site that create rules that aren't real rules. You sir are teaching viewers in the best way...showing all the options, how to do those options with best result, and in detail. I'm glad I found this video, because it helps me...someone with experience with western Archery but not eastern archery. My first Asiatic Bow comes tomorrow. Because of this video, I now know how to shoot before even shooting. I now know what to practice, before practicing. In that's because of you. Hell I'm even hesitant about Khatra, will I mess it up, how will it turn out. But again because of you, those thoughts are gone. You truly are amazing Armin.
G'day Armin, Ron here from Queensland Australia. I have watched many of your videos and learned enormous amounts of information about eastern style archery. The best thing you have ever said is "he shoots from his heart". That resonates with me in a deep and spiritual place. Thank you.
Hello Armin, thank you very much for all your honest and open videos! This video is extremely helpful and the presentation is hilarious, I spewed my coffee! The tilting part crept out of my form somehow and I was wondering why I couldnt reliably hit anymore. I added it back into my form yesterday and I am grouping arrows again! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge….
No mater how many times I watch some of your videos I always learn something new, or figure out one little detail. It's interesting to learn how stacking can also be a good thing, when used as a sort of anchor point.
I Wonder if this may be one of the best instuctive videos I have ever seen. About bowshooting of course, but also in its performance of compressing information in a short time, and quite obvious from a man Who knows what he is is doing. I mean,.Mr.Hirmer is Not wasting our time, and thanks for Not putting music on the video. With respect, Stanley
my arm guard broke, no matter I practiced my Khatra all day on my korean bow from this vid. now i have a clean release, style and better groups. thanks mate, from australia.
Wow, I just learned so much in this video. Thank you for the instruction. Armin, you crack me up. I like your style. "If it doesn't make sense..." LOL!!!
Was having issue w/bow arm jerking down and away at release, alot. Time to correct that bad overreaction so...back to Armin's superb Khatra teaching videos. Because i couldn't "will" my body-mind-spirit to change. This video put me on track and helped me alot. Arming is great at modeling for the student. But the simple drill that worked amazingly for me is in his other Khatra video' "Khatra Advanced at ~ 9:51 min. Thanks again Armin! Randy c
I'm learning to shoot for a few months, decided to learn traditional archery and your videos one of the most helpful information sources I've found. Thank you! Sadly that it's winter now, snow and cold and I can't train outdoors alone - indoors with another people it's very fussily and hard to concentrate.
In Japanese Kyudojo archery with the long bamboo Yumi bow, one lets the bow turn-rotate with its natural momentum with the release - often the bow will spin all the way to bring the string into contact with the back of the bow hand - the important thing to pay attention to here is to not subconsciously attempt to make the bow turn -
Great information Armin! As always your instructions are very easy to understand regardless of the level of archer’s knowledge. By the way, I totaly agree best khatra instruction I’ve seen so far !!!
You are logic, and always explain what I have found out after long time experimenting. Katra, that's a thing I don't master yet, but I'm going to practice. Thanks fore the lesson. 👍
Thank you armin.. I dont have someone to teach me archery so I just learn from internet especially youtube and youtuber like you really help a beginner archer like me.. keep the good work..
uncle Armin, I have a pvc pipe bow with Korean style, with a paracord as the string. and I have a difficulties with forward khatra. i do it with side way khatra. and you are absolutely right uncle, don't force the khatra. thanks for the tutorial uncle.. 😊
I have to agree, there are to many people on TH-cam pontificating upon topics they don't know anything about, they hit the target once and think this makes them an expert. Armin is one of the few actual authorities on archery here he's certainly taught me a few things I didn't know and for those seeking answers about this elegant weapon this is a great place to get some of those answers. Great job Armin.
You know what's funny, I saw a guy who thought that you should twist the bow to do khatra . The string popped right off at full draw and the bottom siyha hit him right in the Jimmy and he hit the floor curled up in a ball lmao plus his new bow was totally jacked.
Now that I take archery more seriously this videos is so useful in so many levels. Yes now I will have to practice this a lot more and make it my own. Your videos are so amazing and like the saying says; when the student is ready the teacher will appear. What an awesome and amazing lesson.
I decided to leave a comment here but all your video are so helpful!... this video was really a game changer for me. I don’t know if I would have ever understood without having seen this video on Kathra... now I am enjoying so much archery! I promise to myself to donate something to you as soon as I get an income (should be soon)!. Thank u again!
Hello Armin, after 40 years of shooting the mediterranean style it was about to be boring but suddenly someone comes and share his knowledge with humor... There are others ways......just to be (re) discovered. I 'm waiting for your next videos with the upmost interest. Hector.
How to change all your small amount of archery expirience in one second? Just remember than "Khatra initiates shot" not vice versa. Once I heard this - I stoped the video and took a try. And was amazed. I thought: Hmmmm...It might be fortuity. And tried again. And again. And again. But arrows flight like in a movie. One by one close to each other right at the point that I look. Armin! Thank you! And Khatra...very beautiful word. I love it.
Wow! This is so amazing! I received the 59" hankyu (35# @ 28) last month and had researched traditional Japanese tenouchi technique (not modern kyudo technique) which is really, really hard to find. After watching the whole video, it is so similar to what I have found out and what have been practicing. The best part is that your instructions are so clear and concise plus the video really helps a lot. Top notch instruction! Also, I'm practicing the thumb draw without thumb protection for the mean time. The inner side of my thumb is actually developing tougher skin as I practice every other day! I'm still waiting for the 71" hankyu (49# @ 28) from Sarmat. It'll be really interesting to see what that can do but I think I may need thumb protection for that one because of the poundage at full draw of 32 inches. Thank you for all that you do! You're just awesome!
Wonderful! I have learned more from watching you than I have in the last 29 years of shooting. It's interesting trying to change ingrained techniques. Thank you.
One followup question teacher, by doing Khatra, how should I adjust the aim? Say do I aim at the tennis ball in the middle? The reason I ask this is because my arrow still lands on the left of my target (left-handed thumb release archer here) even I do Khatra, or I am not doing it right. Many many thanks sir!
Very informative instructions! Improved precision & no arrow slapping, fantastic! I can't wait to start practicing your techniques. Thank you for your time!
Oh wow, wow wow!! This is so good and well demonstrated. I particularly found it interesting 11 mins plus into this video as I'm a longbow archer.. Thankyou Armin. :-)
Now I have practiced your way of doing katra for 6 days,( dont know if there Are any other way thou), and this really works well. So thanks fore good instructions in this video Armin. Im going to keep using this Technic and develope it. IT has improved my shooting both in accuracy and it seems that the arrows go faster. Thanks you very much. (I can still teach you a thing or to about throwing knives thou, haha) Regards from Norway. Sven
When I use to shoot compounds I use to use the cup between my thumb and finger and all my fingers were spread out , I think it's like what you said it's about what works for you . Always pulled the string back to the check bone , sure is a different style of archery tho . My bow was set at 65 pounds lol . I thinking following through is one of the most important things . Even with the compound you can tweak it a bit . I'm not a fan of release aids . Nice bow man , wish I had one . That bow looks amazing to use . You're like the father I never had , my dad just taught me how to shoot firearms
Very great lessons. Will help me greatly, when my Alibow "Kheshig" (That I ordered because of your review) arrives and I start shooting Thumb Release. Who says, " Ya can't teach and old dog new tricks". ;- )
So i have eliminated the arrow slap sound, however still have considerable movement in the air w my arrows in a large circle. Maybe 3 or 4 inches is how far i see my arrows sway. I think it is my release and shitty katra.
You are by far the best archery instructor on You Tube...Thank you.
thank you very much
Thats very true Robert. 👍
Agree
true fucking statement,,, wanna go to malte , only for shooting bow
so true!

Agree👍
I did!! got board with Ca lock down and the Plague!
Turns out it's a lot like shooting a shotgun, comes natural?
6:20 "This is... I do not know. No Khatra."
This is just great.
Marvelous material
Thank you
I just found your channel and I appreciate and respect your attitude of “this is my way and my opinion, not the only way or the so called right way” thank you
You are a genius sir. I instantly heard no arrow slap and grouped. Thank you
Thanks
What a Champion and Master! Respect from Korea!

Initiating the release with the bow hand khatra is genius! Glad I happened by this video. And Mr. Armin, you kick butt as an instructor.
This is the best demonstration on Traditional Archery that I’v ever seen! Many thanks Armin for sharing, truly invaluable information.
"but hey, why do you shoot Mediterranean in the first place" that was the best part of the video. good content

Bob Ross of archery! Good job, I sincerely thank you for all the advice!
PS: love the sound effects :D
Dude!!! He stole my way of shooting, the whole time he's talking about the way I naturally shoot
I realize he didn't steal my way I shoot, I just am self taught and this makes me feel like I'm not stupid, which I very well might be
All good, for many it is natural for some just not
@@ArminHirmer I didn't expect a reply from anyone let alone the legend himself, I'm honored

Thank you Armin. This video help me control my arrows much better on the thumb draw. Specifically tilting the bow was a step I was missing
Traditional Korean archers also do Khatra (고자치기) to reduce the archers paradox and to reduce stress on the left arm.
Hi Armin. Thank you so much for your amazing archery videos. I sure learned a lot from you. 😍👍🏼
Really well explained. Thanks for this video!
Another super video Armin, love the way you cut acros styles to extract similarity in method
Learned more here than 6 months at archery, buying a bow now to practice all you teach
You are logic, and always explain what I have found out after long time experimenting.
Katra, that's a thing I don't master yet, but I'm going to practice. Thanks fore the lesson. 👍

Things we learn with your knowledge and clear explanation!👍
Greatest youtube teacher! Tnx Armin
When pushing the Khatra to release. Both wow and thank you.
Great Instructional Video. A must watch for anyone that enjoys archery. Thank you so much..!

Koreans have always shot with a thumb draw.
Wow I always wondered why many traditional shooters tilt their bow. Now I understand! Can't wait to try this tomorrow.
Thank you very much Armin. Best instructions of archery i heard...

Khatra just feels right on Asiatic.
Great insights Armi, taking these tips with me on my,,,, "Sunday, to Far Away!"
Very great lessons. Will help me greatly, when my Alibow "Kheshig" (That I ordered because of your review) arrives and I start shooting Thumb Release. Who says, " Ya can't teach and old dog new tricks". ;- )
Ok thanks i will try this next!
So i have eliminated the arrow slap sound, however still have considerable movement in the air w my arrows in a large circle. Maybe 3 or 4 inches is how far i see my arrows sway. I think it is my release and shitty katra.
Awesome video! I'm going to try it this very day! :)
This dude looks and sounds like a Bond villain
Harry Vigolo or ras al ghul
He would be great Bond villain.
✨Great information. Now I know why my arrows go left when I shoot thumb ring left handed.Thank you Armin.
Awesome teaching my friend !!
