    What's the deal with rock and mulch? Why was it a hassle?

    Why don’t you just charge a flat rate of $300.00 plus dump fees?? Works great for me

      No one would rent then. There are plenty of company's that offer rentals for $300 or $325 that include 1 ton.

    I was just curious how you vet your customers? Do you require proof of insurance? Have you ever turned anyone away for being shady or a flake? What is your recourse if they don't bring your trailer back?

      I stopped doing trailer rentals. I was strictly dropping them off and picking them up myself. Had issues the few times I rented them out. Likely doing rentals again in the spring and will require insurance up for equipment for sure.

    What issues did you have with gravel and dirt?

    • @outdoorzwithcraigdz
      @outdoorzwithcraigdz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      too much weight. Just had it the other day with my roll offs. 1 yard of dirt is roughly 1 ton. so 10 yards = 10 tons or more if its wet... Trailer is rated for 5. I had a 15 yard roll off guy filled it to the top with Dirt mixed with debris. Had to unload 70% of it and it was 4.7 tons today. People don't understand what it weighs. They fill your trailer or dumpster unless you got a 30k dual axle commercial dumpster truck your not moving it. Same customer said they had about 1-1.5 tons of debris lol. Would have been easy 12-15 tons X $120 dump fee per ton that's almost $2000 just in fees at the land fill. Not worth the headaches.

    Thanks for the video
    I’ve been really thinking about getting into this dump trailer rental business. Only thing holding me back is the dump fees it’s a 3 ton $328.65 minimum charge $67 per ton I live in Wisconsin not sure if this is normal but it seems like the videos I watch the dump fees are way cheaper.

      $124 a ton here now. The county land fill is $200 a ton.

    Did you start out with insurance with your first trailer, or later?

    • @outdoorzwithcraigdz
      @outdoorzwithcraigdz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      always had insurance. Someone steals your trailer then your out 10-12k....

  • @DuvalDIY

    Why did you decide to go with dump trailers opposed to a dumpster on a roll off trailer?

    • @outdoorzwithcraigdz
      @outdoorzwithcraigdz  ปีที่แล้ว

      I went with dump trailers originally as I had 1, I didn't go out and get 1 to start a dumpster business rather found a way to rent mine out while I wasn't using it for firewood. This turned into a full business.

    Do you charge the dump fee on top of the rental fee?

    • @outdoorzwithcraigdz
      @outdoorzwithcraigdz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me, 1 Ton of dump fees are included. Some areas and companys do it different. To me Charing someone to drop it off X, then Y to pick it up then Z to dump it just confuses people and makes them think your screwing them. I do a flat rate, easy to understand. You go over 1 ton and you get billed for it extra, same with extra charge items like tires, mattresses ect.

    why you just want lease your equipment to companpies?

    • @outdoorzwithcraigdz
      @outdoorzwithcraigdz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Leasing probably would not work out too well. Again people don't treat your stuff like you do. Even with a contract and insurance it would just be way too much of a hassle knowing its more than likely going to get damaged.

    How are you advertising?

    • @outdoorzwithcraigdz
      @outdoorzwithcraigdz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have pages setup on all the major platforms, Yelp, Google, Facebook. I have been trying Google ads but no good results. I also use facebook ads. Talking to Yelp and Angies to possibly use them as well but Angies is per Lead and its like $20 per lead so you can really piss away your profits fast. Google ads I spend $150 a month on and really if I get 2 jobs it would be worth it but so far not so much. I also have a website so I try to manage my SEO so I show up for local searches.

    • @outdoorzwithcraigdz
      @outdoorzwithcraigdz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the most part I've been very steady so its not like I need the additional business but it would be nice to be book solid 2-3 weeks out all the time. I also try and reduce advertising when I am booked as people call looking for last minute rentals and if I'm booked its just a waste.

      I’ve made a ton off of angies list. Yes you can lose money fast if you don’t turn leads off quite often.

      I have both a LLC and DBA. There is no requirement for either in NY. Also no special permit required.
