It's a great business!! I'm also in the dumpster business. We run two roll off trucks best thing I ever did. Sky's the limit once your established and you have contracts with builders contractors your laughing. Keep it up your doing great and you just started!!!!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. You continue to inspire me as I’m very interested in getting into this type of business. I also appreciate your transparency.
Great video man. Thanks for breaking the revenue and profit down. I'm definitely getting started in the Dallas area with junk removal and dumpster rental. I'm picking up my first dump trailer tomorrow and June will be my first month of operating. May God continue blessing you brother!
would really be insterested in a follow up video to this being that year end is coming up. It would be cool to see the breakdown of the busy and slow months and how they all averaged out. Great stuff as always!!
Great video. In the future maybe turn around and face the light. That will lighten up the picture as a whole and use natural light vs artificial light. Once again, great video and info.
I know you will be a multi million dollar business! Great info I’ll be fallowing your progress! I’m in trucking now and this will be a side business I will be starting soon. We will be in the twin city area so kinda close to you. One question how big of a service area do you work (how many miles is normal for you to travel away from home base) and what is the population of town/ city you serve? Thanks
i live in oshkosh, wi and we operate out of fond du lac, wi both towns of about 70 thousand we travel about 40 miles from our area and will go further but we add charges over 40 miles
Man that's awesome! Thanks for the break down of the expenses versus income. Hey what about the tax burden? Is that factored in? Getting closer and closer to pulling the trigger here and your vids are really helping that. Thanks again man.
taxes are a touchy subject!!! i have a great accountant. taxes will be a factor but having debt and alot of write offs like buying new dumpsters help. also have alot of depreciation with a new business. i would guess we pay no taxes even though we make money this year
@@The-SKYS-The-Limit IT DEFININITELY WILL!!!! my goal is to grow the business and not pay taxes. the business will be worth way more every year assuming you do that. you will also pay less taxes if you pay yourself the profit and take it from business. in general, and this varies but the business will pay 30 percent on profit and an individual will pay 10 percent. this is a general rule of thumb
great video thanks for all the info and appreciate the transparency. I agree that is important the factor in labor to figure your true prophet even if you're running the dumpsters yourself because eventually you just want to pay someone to do all the deliveries. A question though I notice that you have two roll off trailers do you actually need two roll-off trailers for 14 dumpsters or was one originally bought as a backup from the old owner
the reason is for a backup. it will come in real handy when i get another truck. id say one truck could handle 20 dumpsters depending on the day but some days are just super busy and other days theres nothing
I would like to start a dumpster business but i dont know if it would work out. there is no one around here that i know of that does it, and what few roll offs ive seen around are from out of this area (southwest VA). should i just take a plunge and try it? should i start with utility trailers with high sides? i only have a half ton truck so a dump trailer is almost out of the question for now
you can definitely start with a trailer and start selling them to feel out the market. we live in a pretty rural area and plenty of people need dumpsters. if you are serious about the business you will want to get into dump trailers or roll offs eventually
@@Lifes_Apprentice I believe I am going to give it a try possibly next year. I found aluminum dump trailers (didnt know they existed) and i know they are very expensive, but if i dont beat it to death it should last me a long time. a 6x12 aluminum dump weighs half as much as a steel one same size but is double the cost. I should be able to safely tow more weight with a lighter trailer like that i hope
How many dumpsters do you own total? Or at least at the time of this video how many did you own to create 39 sales? I'm wondering what type of volume I can expect if I start out with three roll-off dumpsters. I have budgeted enough money to purchase the trailer and three roll-off dumpsters without a loan. I will use the subsequent income to purchase more dumpsters in the future unless it looks like it's going to be worth it to go ahead and buy a couple more up front.
i own 16 now at the time of the video it was 13 or 14... im figuring an average turnover rate of 10 days per dumpster which means ill sell every dumpster 3 times a month. when you have a few dumpsters and business is going good you can try and turn them faster to make more profit. it sounds like you have a good plan in order. go get it!!!
@@Lifes_Apprentice that's a solid estimation. I have an opportunity to go in and I'm working on projections. It's tough to project because renting cans for residential customers seems much different than renting cans to contractors.
@@ChattanoogaDan contractors are an easy sale in most cases but thier dumpsters are in general going to be heavier and they always want to keep them for longer than you will like. you will find this out at some point because you will have to rent to them at some point...its inevitable i would try to avoid this as long as you can

yes we have workmans comp on employees and taxes are pulled for employees mothly. this is our first year so we have to pay a baseline federal and state tax every quarter. since we have started we have heavily invested in the company which means we will most likely not show a profit this year. i would imagine we will get a tax return based on the money we have paid this year. my goal is not to make money the first few years as silly as that sounds...my goal is to grow the business
$25.00/hr seems kinda up there for someone to deliver dumpsters, are they providing their own trucks? I used to haul 80,000lb Class A Hazmat tankers full of acids and other deadly chemicals for 25.00/hr lol.

What’s the average size you use? Is a 12 yard can pretty good or should I go bigger?
we have 15 and 20 yard but 12 is a good size
How many dumpsters did you have in that first month (April) ??
11
Are you selling those dumpster to your roofing projects or are they sold outside of your business .
i use dump trailers for my roofing. its much easier in my opinion! all the dumpsters are sold outside my construction business
What would your storage fee be ? And did you add that to monthly cost
the cost is not added in this video but it costs 200 a month
Is your biggest customer, your roofing company. And are "cans" residential bins or dumpsters
we very rarely use our dumpsters for roofing. we use a dump trailer 9 out of 10 roofs. our dumpsters are all roll offs not residential dumpsters
