John Williams conducted the Pittsburgh symphony a few years ago in his "music of the movies," including Schindler's list, of course. He told the story of when Spielberg wanted him to compose the movie, Steve invited John to his house to screen the film. When it was over, John said to Steve, "I'm not good enough for this," to which Steve replied, "I know, but everyone else is dead." This work will go down as one of John's masterpieces, and I think you played it masterfully. He would be very proud of these youth, I'd wager.
I remember going to an WWII memorial event, where a violinist performed this piece with a piano accompanist. When his performance was over, instead of a round of applause, there was silence. I don't think I've ever encountered a moment as powerful as that since. Impeccable performance!
