"You ever consider suicide?" Charley seemed pretty against it when Jesse asked him. But they both ended up doing it, just in different ways. This film was sad as fuck, but really beautiful as well.
I fucking love what you said. I just saw this movie a few hours ago and this music and the characters and their stories have sunk deep in me and taken up a cold corner and fill it up with warm light. This is one of those things that don't leave you. Charley's death broke my fucking heart. The sad thing is that my words have no essence or depth of what I felt today and so I can't express what's in me to somebody else. In a way Jesse Bob Charley they all were like this.
Apparently Charlie was not only suffering from tuberculosis, depression, regret and loneliness while missing his good friend Jesse, but he was also dealing with a severe morphine addiction and was withdrawing at the time of his suicide. I can't IMAGINE the pain of going through dope withdrawals while also having tuberculosis and the enormous guilt and regret of killing Jesse.
This music includes so much emotional deepness. This score is gets even more deep when you see charlies pictures on background. It's sad how this kind of legendary movies get forgotten so easily.
The film also studies the character of a criminal and shows how his fears and regrets were no different than most other men. It humanizes the demonized enemy. Robert realizes how ordinary his hero is and he also realizes after killing him that he's no different.
In reality... They were all criminals. They robbed, and some of them killed. But I guess what makes us kind hearted toward these characters is the fact all the hardships they had to go through. Every single one of them, not just Jesse or Frank or Bob or Charley but also the rest of the gang. It was such a hard world to live in back in those days... I feel for them and the people who went through their mislead actions.
Took me a minute to remember which part you were talking about but yea, you mean when he lights up his cigar after Bob jumps off stage. And Rather Lovely Thing queues again. So good.
I feel a world of pain, my brother lost..i cry whenever I hear this. I miss him so dearly, but at the same time i am amazed how anyone can encapsulate my feelings in music; it's like this song is written for me and only me.
I've to leave my family soon and the prospect of leaving my brother behind fills me up with unexplainable feelings. A terrible darkness. To leave behind love and home takes a great deal of courage. I feel without meaning when I begin to think like this. I feel a great deal for you and your loss. You're a brave man that you continue to live without him. I hope sharing my grief took some of yours away from you today.
it must be hard to leave your family behind. I don't know your circumstances but i do hope you can return to them save and sound. Just tell your family you love them. I'm pretty sure they know, but it can't hurt to tell them anyway. Cherish your family , you never know how long you will have them.. Thank you for reaching out to me and i wish you all the best and save travels.
Poor Charlie--he's the only nice (and half-way normal) man in the whole film. It's so sad when he's lying there in the bed, crying because he believes Jesse James is going to kill him the next day. I'm sure that that's one of the reasons Bob Ford kills Jesse--he's protecting his brother. Rockwell is perfect in this role. I love how the "star power" (Pitt & Affleck) does its job, but that there's also a perfect ensemble for the material--just like in "The Godfather". My favorite film.
He ís a really good actor, if you rewatch this movie you should check out how he acts to kind off hide his emotions, kind of hard to explain. But he's acting that he is acting in another way than he feels a lot of times, wich must be really hard to do, and he does it well.
I looked at my face and saw only my skull, little creatures scurrying around where I see you. I can't tell if I'm dreaming or if this is where I'm supposed to be walking. (memoirs fir the moment)
thanx for the link these extra tracks are great & should of been on the soundtrack but ive got them now so nice one, thought Rockwell was fantastic in this film!!! saw a couple of guys out of Deadwood too, brilliant casting allround, films should be like this, great casting, good story, beautiful music & epic scenery = timeless film.
Sam Rockwell should've received more attention for his part in the movie as in my opinion he was the most tragic "minor character" in it. But then again all the other actors should've too.
I love the way you framed your first sentence, lol, in the same sense that John C Reilly is a real actor. Still, if Brad Pitt is "a crude tool for serious directors," Dominik managed to wield that tool exceptionally well here. The Jesse James that Dominik and Pitt created seemed mysterious, depressed, and amused by the stories, but in some weird way, unable to fill the position they created. He seemed bipolar and unable to cope. Pitt was equal to the rest of the cast, I'd say.
Hey, thanks for the message. I don't know of any other film that takes quite the same view of fame as this one, though if you've seen the first 5 episodes of Deadwood, their take on "Wild Bill" powerfully emphasized the disconnect between the legend people wanted to believe in and the tired man who wished he could just be anonymous. I think, to some degree, all heroic stories emphasize their own fictional nature, from the Greek legends, to the Icelandic sagas, to the folklore of the Wild West.
Wow, Raven, I can't believe there is an intelligent conversation on TH-cam! Will miracles never cease? Thank you so much for these perceptive and thought-provoking ideas. You wrote: "the public just wants entertainment of people who will fight and die.... Ford finally understands how Jesse himself was imprisoned by public opinion." I never thought of it that way. "The public just wants entertainment of people who will fight and die." Ain't it the truth? Hope you write this on an Amazon review.
Love Sam Rockwell but where's all the praise for Garret Dillahunt (Ed Miller)? That scene with him a Jesse was amazing with the nervous atmosphere. That was some of the best acting i've seen.
Every single person in this movie was simply at their best. This movie is a masterpiece. I hope it's not forgotten or labelled a looser as Brad himself says thats its considered one like most have forgotten Bob and the rest few have labelled him a coward.
Felt so bad for Ed Miller. Idk how the hell a seemingly peaceful, a tad dimwitted and introverted man like Ed ever came to join their gang. Seeing him all alone in that dilapidated old cabin, scared to death and knowing that he's probably gonna die. And then that death ride he and Jesse went on, when he heard the revolver cock back and just kinda sighed knowing he was about to get shot. Plus the only woman he was ever with was a wh*re and everybody made fun of him for it. Poor guy :(
i recently watched a show on history that points to the fact that Robert ford didn't kill Jesse James but that Jesse staged his own death so ppl would stop coming after him. it was really cool and the amount of Evidence the show gave convinced me.
@CTrace You're right, of course. But, man, it's clear he had no clue what he was getting himself into--he was living in a world of his own creation, until suddenly he realized he's in 'way over his head . . .
This is an excellent description of the people / public vs fame and honor (or lack thereof). I would like to read more. Any place else to look? Excellent opinion and thanks.
@thomasbaron06 It wasn't that people hated jesse james. He was looked at as somewhat of a robin hood character during that time. If the public wanted him dead, they easily could have ratted him out, or rounded up a posse and caught him. But although some despised him because of his lawlessness, the common man, the poor people, respected him. It was the aristocrats and wealthier people that wanted him gone. He was no hero, but he never once tried to be such. The Fords killed an icon
Don't even mention Ocean's 13 in a comment section of this masterpiece! The talent and money that was accumulated for Ocean's 13 all went to waste for a semi-memorable comedy no one's going to spend a second to dwell on after it's over. I hate it when a good cast and money is wasted.
@RagingBull91 i hate movies in the theater, especially long ones. I love watching this movie at home with my pause button lol this is my favorite movie.
When I hear this I always think of the conversation between Charley and Jesse about suicide. Jesse asks Charley if he ever considered it...he said no...always viewed his problems from a different slant. Charley had a hard time with the death of Jesse...I guess he could not view it from another slant. I felt bad for Charley.
In the future this'll be one of those movies everyone is shocked isn't considered a classic, one where the cast looks as impressive as Ocean's 13 in hindsight, like Glengary Glen Ross or something. Where when it came out the names that might not have been as notable as Jack Lemmon, or Al Pacino; were Alan Arkin, and Kevin Spacey (Oscars anyone?). Who wasn't perfectly cast in this movie?
sorry, smarty pants, but this song is untitled. the person that uploaded this video gave it a name.and in a way charley was responsible also for assassination, because he too was pulling his gun. He grew to hate robert because of his bragging.
It's stupid to say that Brad Pitt isn't a real actor. He is one of the few things in te world that is both popular with most people and has actually quality. It took me a while too to find out he wasn't just being hot for the girls.
I'm going to geuss that jesse knew what he was doing wasn't right and he knew he was doing wrong but he continued doing it to gain respect and other motives.
The music for this movie is astonishingly moving. IMHO the music far out-weighs the actual movie, and thats not to say I thought the movie was rubbish.
I thought the cast was excellent as well...I though Pitt handled the style and motions of Jesse very well it just seemed he came to heavy with the accent at points. Casey Affleck was superb as well as Rockwell and they are both very underrated actors
That makes no sense, why would he kill himself if he was scared of being killed by Frank. He did it because he was depressed and suffering from tuberculosis and opiate withdrawal
no, you're totally missing the point. charley knew that killing jesse was nessesary. bob gloating about the assassination is what drove charley to kill himself, cause he and jesse were friends. you need to rewatch the film.
This is, in my opinion, one of the greatest soundtracks of all time.
Agreed
I always thought that the album was been nominated for best original score at the Oscars.
It is the greatest soundtrack of all time.
"You ever consider suicide?"

The sorrow one must feel to press a revolver into their chest. Rest well Charley.
This music includes so much emotional deepness. This score is gets even more deep when you see charlies pictures on background. It's sad how this kind of legendary movies get forgotten so easily.
Every character in this movie has a monumental- larger-than-life presence to them... It makes the movie feel brilliantly epic and iconic.
The film also studies the character of a criminal and shows how his fears and regrets were no different than most other men. It humanizes the demonized enemy. Robert realizes how ordinary his hero is and he also realizes after killing him that he's no different.
Incredible Sam Rockwell

This is just hauntingly soul renching. I love the pauses.
one of the best moments in this masterpiece is when charley lights up on stage.

+Rufuz Mitchell I wish you the best too. Good luck.
Charlie deserved his own song :)
You've an elevated taste/sense of music.👍

best song on the movie! Loved a song for Bob too, but I love this! just amazing!
So beautiful movie...so beautiful music. Makes your soul sing...

PauLtus B brilliant observation
I congratulate you. you told beautifully
@@JOH_Yuksel_Yerlikaya Thank you!
I should give this one a rewatch.
Yep, acting while acting.
God it kills me that these last couple tracks didn't make the cut.
the short loudness doesn´t matter ;)
the song is beautiful!
I was going to say, I didn't get this song on my soundtrack. Thank you!
So wonderful song.
It's really an amazing this when a song makes me feel more then i've ever felt in my intire life.
I looked at my face and saw only my skull, little creatures scurrying around where I see you. I can't tell if I'm dreaming or if this is where I'm supposed to be walking.

I love it!
masterpiece

ravenouscolonelhart perfect comment
Crude tool? Bro this man has an insanely solid track record, he's got a million great performances, he's one of the best actors in Hollywood by far
"Charley Ford became all that his countrymen wanted an assassin of Jesse James to be."
dead
Genial como todas!! :)

Anyone in 2021 ??
c'est une très belle musique émouvante a souhait 👍😘⚘🌠💞🌍🎻🎶🌻😥j adore ♥ 🦁
This film tore me apart between jesse and bob. I felt sympathy for both. Such a great film!

the look he gave at 1:50 sended gave me chills when i first saw it.
Magnifique
I loved Charley's character in this movie...Sam Rockwell was brilliant in his potrayal..
they're still heroes in my mind. and it was a tragedy.
oh god, this is true, but still....sad..
i recently watched a show on history that points to the fact that Robert ford didn't kill Jesse James but that Jesse staged his own death so ppl would stop coming after him. it was really cool and the amount of Evidence the show gave convinced me.
Hmmm.
sharebee link is dead. Any idea where to get the bonus disc please?
The download link doesn't work any longer. Can you please reactivate it?
@thomasbaron06 you missed the point entirely. It's a tragedy. Robert Ford was not a coward and Jesse was not a hero.
@CTrace You're right, of course. But, man, it's clear he had no clue what he was getting himself into--he was living in a world of his own creation, until suddenly he realized he's in 'way over his head . . .

Charlie was a good man at heart and realized what he did was wrong!
Song for Bob #14 is the best song I think. But this one is good also.
Cheers bud- good to have this. Sam is the best

Charley you spit all over my boot
I didn't see that at all. but it's possible. great movie either way. some people put way too much damn thought into it though.
@strutnoodle I agree! Jesse provoked Robert into doing something he himself couldn't do.
@freakercreeper lol..we should be allowed to appeal this...
Sam Rockwell is a great actor but alls I can think of when watching him was Wild Bill on the "Green Mile" lol.
Ничего красивее я не слышал
@strutnoodle i dont really get how bob was no coward... could you explain this please?
sorry, smarty pants, but this song is untitled. the person that uploaded this video gave it a name.and in a way charley was responsible also for assassination, because he too was pulling his gun. He grew to hate robert because of his bragging.

HI, How do I download these 5 in high bit rate or lossless format.. all I see are MP3
@goher793 could you tell me where to find that info?
I'm going to geuss that jesse knew what he was doing wasn't right and he knew he was doing wrong but he continued doing it to gain respect and other motives.

thats the link fellas..fucking awesome song!!! tyr mp3skull it is there
@johnplayersstandard It's not that simple guys. You can't say it was wrong or right. Jesse was a fucking monster. Remember Ed Miller.
yeah; remember ed miller: Lol
I didn't see that at all. but it's possible.
Rockwell was so amazing. Hell, everyone was.
anyone has this scene? please upload.
@xxnutcreamxx Yes in real life charlie killed himself because of an overwhelming fear that Jessie's brother Frank was out to get him.
That makes no sense, why would he kill himself if he was scared of being killed by Frank. He did it because he was depressed and suffering from tuberculosis and opiate withdrawal
fucking awesome
irony that they have this conversation and he later ends up killing himself
Poor Charley.
Watch the movie again. Charley was in for the killing of jesse james since bob told him
"charly ford became what any american wanted an assassin of jesse james to be".....a person who commits suicide...rip charly ford....
0:30 - 0:40 Daniel Faraday :D
Watch Moon.
Poor charley
@strutnoodle most of the people that run their mouths about Bob have never read the real history of the James'
I felt the worse for charlie he never wanted a part in it he just wanted peace.
@Demoniqueful What's going through your head...it wasn't okay! lol
i'd download it if it were legal and if it weren't a link to a virus lol
