    I'm just getting into audiobook narration. I have 4 titles on ACX, nothing huge. I found this interview very insightful and I know this will help me up my game. Thanks a lot both of you!

      @@UpperPenPodcast the latest project I've finished is called The Final Case Files of Allen T Grey, it's a paranormal investigation book and my favorite so far. I've also done two books in the paranormal western genre that were ok; the first is called Wicked Westerns and the second is called Hungry Shadow: A Wendigo Joe Novel. Those were the first two I produced (got in good with the author) with my original audio setup. I also did a book in the self help/spirituality genre that I'm not particularly fond of lol. Not sure if those are your style but I appreciate you checking them out. Thanks again for the videos, I'm going to be watching and learning more from them.

    One of the great narrators of today, right along with Pavi Proczko, Heath Miller, and let's save the best, in my ears,for last, not saying he's like the AAbsolute best out of all of em but just saying... he might be, maybe a little, I think he is,..... the amazing Travis Baldree.

      What books do Proczko and Miller narrate?

      @@UpperPenPodcast Miller narrates the He Who Fights With Monsters series by Shirtaloon and
      Proczko narrates The Defiance of the Fall series.
      They both have much more on their resume but those are the series they narrate that I'm listening to that are currently attempting to enthrall me, pointlessly attempting because with my willpower levels enthrallment is just a wasted attempt. I am, however, grossly enamored with the series.

    Favorite narrator ever! I listen to books just because he is the narrator. And I love historical fiction too! Love the Sharp books I think he would have quite a few voices that would work there. Any other upcoming projects you can get Nick to reveal. The next Land LitRPG I know is in the books for January. KDT? King killer chronicles? The torch that ignited the stars, soul blade???? There are worse addictions than audiobooks, don’t judge me.

    • @UpperPenPodcast
      @UpperPenPodcast  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I don't judge, I started a podcast to "justify" my audiobook addiction. And sadly, he revealed only what was coming soon. He is good at keeping his mouth shut for a guy who gets paid to talk to himself.

    Let's not forget author Andrew Rowe. Nick's narration of the Arcane Ascension series along with the preceeding series The War of Broken Mirrors, is the whole reason why I'm here

  • @CrazyJ1985
    @CrazyJ1985 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'm going to try to be a little bit vague here so I don't include any spoilers,
    But for the actual reason I'm here,
    So I've just finished the Arcane Ascension series and picked up WOBM book 1-Forging Divinity.
    Nick, I LOVE that you've kept the voice of, let's call him, The Wielder fairly recognizable all the way across all the books. I haven't read any of the books other than the AA series with Corin Cadence, meanwhile I've jumped back to Forging Divinity. A whole new place new story line new characters, but I am immediately able to recognize a familiar voice. 😮😅 Love it Thank mate keep up the great work. You too Andrew, without you Nick couldn't bring those characters to life.

    if the voice is distinct should narrators omit the the "_____ said"

    • @UpperPenPodcast
      @UpperPenPodcast  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like that they include the "blank said" because it stays consistent with the written book, and even when they are distinct I sometimes need reminding of who sounds like what.

    • @UpperPenPodcast
      @UpperPenPodcast  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! I just listened to it on a couple different devices to make sure it wasn't an issue with upload, and the audio sounds the same as what I heard conducting the interview. My guess is that the interview does not have any audio post processing done, unlike Nick's narrated work that goes to an audio engineer before publication. So it probably sounds a bit more raw than what you would be used to with his narrations.

    A good narrator can make or break an audiobook for me, even if I liked the physical book.
    My biggest pro and con for any audiobook: Do they embody the characters and sound like they are having fun; and the "mispronounced" common words (a HUGE turnoff for me),
