Doing the final fight with Fierce Deity is trivial; no one should be dying in that, with or without double defense and 3 hearts. I did that 3 hearts and no defense with no problem and I'm not exactly a speedrunner, why the fuck would any runner get double defense?

Yeah, D pad moves the pause screen in the normal game on version where the D pad works.
