I’ve used powerpro line on my spinning rods for years and have been really happy with it. Sometimes the line with be spooled on for more than a season and I’ll use it in fresh and saltwater and even drag catfish across rocky river bottoms with it. It’s good stuff and worth the cost to buy a bigger spool to fill several rods with it.

Man am I glad I stumbled across your channel! (Already liked and subscribed) I'm going on a boat named The Yankee Capts 4 times in the next 3 months. These trips are 4 and 5 days long,100 miles plus into the Gulf of Mexico out of Key West. I'm doing both "lite" less than 400ft, and deep drops up to 1000ft. I'll be primarily slow pitch jigging but I'll soak a dead bait if necessary. I've been looking for a 20lb - 30lb 8 strand braid with a diameter less than .01, preferably in the .006 range due to depths we'll be in. Also the Diawa Saltiga 50 is listed to hold 65lb/610, 80lb/460. So I'll probably need about 50% more than this. This was immensely interesting and informative. I can't wait to see your other videos. Keep up the awesome work!

I've used three of these lines. Began with Piscifun. It was ok, but very course to the touch. It came off the spool slower in comparison so not as much casting distance. Smackdown was the smoothest to the touch and worked well. Currently using PowerPro and like it very much. I switched from Smackdown to PowerPro because Smackdown only sold in 150yd spools which was a waste for my needs.

I think if you made the speed and angle of the pulls and releases more consistent, that would make for more accurate results. If the speed is varied than the uneven heating of the line can be an unwanted variable. Also, a varying angle would give more or less pressure/surface area and thus variable abrasion on the line as well. In any case, I think this is a great idea. I hope you can do one on abrasion between types of lines (braid, fluoro, mono). Looking forward to this series!

    • @KarlMaldensNose

Yes if you don't have a controlled speed and angle it means nothing even if you change the paper. Friction if you speed up will create heat and make the line fail quicker. The angle of not straight on each will create different patterns and differentiate the results.

Do you have an opinion on Fins Windtamer? Somebody recommended it for surf fishing the Oregon coast.

Need to test kastking superpower abrasion resistance braided

Came across your channel love your testing methods! Wonder if you would go back and do the strength test again with the flourcarbon like you did here with the Braid I use cheap flouro cause line isn’t cheap for something have to replace frequently lol

So tell me why we bugger around tying leader line on when the braid seems more abrasion resistant than the fluorocarbon?

@@DishesandFishes I have always heard how the braid will break so much easier than nylon. Or fluorocarbon. That's all I meant. Was borderline sarcastic lol. Thanks for the reply tho..

Should have Yo-Zuri in the mix I've seen other test where it outperforms power pro and beyond braid

Fantastic tests. I would love to see this replicated with kastking superpower as it is commonly touted as the best "bang for the buck" braid and it is on the thin side.

All braid is either 8 or 4 strand? I use 16 strand, 12 and a spool of 9 strand. This is hopelessly out of date and buying from Amazon outside the US is a guarantee of spending 3 times more than ebay and 4 times more than Ali.

As a PowerPro convert, I'm not surprised in the slightest. Someone would have to make a miracle product for me to ever switch.

Like Yo-Zuri? It outperforms Power Pro on multiple break test on other channels. It also beats out beyond braid. In more controlled test also.

I've seen similar videos and they make sure to use fresh sandpaper for each test. Did you use fresh sandpaper?

Strange, this is the exact opposite of my personal experience. I've always felt Seaguar was far and away the most abrasion resistant and strongest. Have had too many breakoffs to count with power pro. I also have a lot of good experience with 832. This is not at all what I would have expected.
