Also, should a lamp light up on the front of the camera to indicate that it is recording because mine does not come on . Thank you. canon eos R50.
@@matthewTobrien I returned the remote back, you can't have them both at the same time, apparently when your camera is connected to the PC, you can't activate any of the wireless connection options. Will have to shoot through the laptop or get a wired remote, probably.
Hi! Will the remote work fire the camera on tripod (photographing a group) and I press the remote as i'm standing in back of the camera talking to my subjects?
You absolutely can (at least I can with my EOS R). I set it to Bulb Mode and the desired exposure time, and I make sure that my Drive Mode is set to 10 sec/remote or 2 sec/remote and it works no problem.
Been using the wired remote on R5 to avoid camera shake using a telephoto lens, as well. I have it taped to the wand on my fluid head. Otherwise can be a pain in the ass to pan and touch shutter button with right hand, while trying not to shake the whole setup. Never even thought about the blue tooth. For $43 I picked one up (yes used affiliate link - every “little bit” helps right LOL?). I immediately thought about losing it - but not much to lose. Thanks for this helpful video. I liked it so much I won’t even editorialize on the Star Wars toys . . . .sorry, “action figures.”
I know, it's funny how sometimes these tools that when we're shown them seem like the obvious choice yet we still sometimes miss them. Luckily TH-cam can help with that, and I'm glad you were able to snag one. Thanks so much for using the affiliate link - every bit helps to keep revenue up so I can focus more and more of my time on making vids like this one. And I appreciate the restraint with my Star Wars action figures! 🤣
Check which setting you have the little switch on the remote set to. You might have it toggled to the one that makes it take a picture after 2 or 10 seconds.
Hi ! Little bit late, but I have a question. I have canon 550d eos, and want the bluetooth self release. But the camera itself does not have bluetooth, will it work?
Night photography. I set a 10 sec exposure and (old camera) pressed button on remote that kept taking pictures until I stopped it with remote. So can I “toggle” the button down and have the camera keep taking -0 sec shots??
I bought the BR-E1 Remote with my brand new EOS R6 because I thought that my old RC-1 remote (I used with my old EOS 700D) will not work anymore… but in fact the RC-1 works very well with the R6! So I still use the RC-1 and then I can keep the Bluetooth off on the R6, I guess it can save some battery time. I use the remote for photo/ vidéo shooting in studio or for long exposure photography, very useful & !
Thanks Matthew . . . I have a Canon M50 mark ii. and a Canon BR-E1 . . . it is working fine. However, I can't figure out how to do continuous shooting with the BR-E1. It may not be possible . . . I thought you, or one of your followers, might know of a workaround. Thanks, Bob
You know what’s up. Ain’t got time to come out from behind your desk to start/stop record! Although you’ve got some serious tools for making your TH-cam studio run friction-free. Do you do a lot of long exposures or tripod/serious telephoto shoots?
@@matthewTobrien Not too often. I want to get more into that but just haven't had the time. Astrophotography is definitely something on my bucket list! 👍
I will find out! I use so many plugins between the channel and my client work that I don't recall off the top of my head. I'll make it an item on my to-do list and when I'm back in the studio I'll open that project and get back to you. Thanks for asking!
I would like to purchase the BR-E1 to use while doing landscape photography. I am understanding from a few sources that the BR-E1 focuses each time that you press the BR-E1 shutter button. Is there anyway that you can just have it to fire the shutter without refocusing when you have already focused in-camera without having to switch the auto focus on and off each time? Perhaps I am not understanding something, but this would be a big reason to keep me from purchasing the BR-E1.
You are understanding it correctly, I believe. If your camera and lens are set to auto-focus, depressing the shutter button on the remote will trigger the camera to auto-focus again and, once auto-focus is achieved, the picture will be taken. You can also shoot in manual focus and depressing the shutter on the remote will take a picture with no impact on your focus. I use manual focus for almost all of my photography where I am using the remote. Here’s a link to the manual that may help: gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/2/0300026072/01/br-e1-im-en.pdf
Well that’s simple! It does not have an on/off button. No idea how long its coin battery lasts but it might be a good idea to have one or two handy (and a super tiny screwdriver) if it ever dies in the middle of a shoot. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for illustrating! I have a question here if you don’t mind, I found my old camera have self timer with multiple shots at time, on my r6 it only gives option for 10s and 2s, both of them are only shot for 1 photo, is there anyway can help this better? I think there is one feature which allows to set up time and photo taken amounts, the pain on there is every time it finished it will turn off the feature automatically, then I have to run back to camera to turn it on again 😂 tia
This is why I got this bluetooth remote. I can use it to take as many photos as I want without having to go back to the camera for any reason. I can fire off a bunch of photos rapidly like I can in rapid shooting mode when I'm holding the camera, but this remote solves all of those 2second and 10 second timer problems. Are you trying to use this remote and struggling to set it up correctly? Or have you not purchased it yet?
@@jjdubs I definitely worded my previous reply wrong. What I intended it to mean was that I can shoot rapidly by pressing the shutter button on the remote repeatedly but only "rapidly" in comparison to when you're shooting without the remote using the 2 or 10 second self-timer.
