On the day Ronnie passed, my boss called me to the office (best buy employee) he sat me down and told me the news... We went back and forth jamming out songs for probably an hour and a half... He loved Dio too... He still does, but he use to too
Wow, never knew that Ronnie was doing covers of Jethro Tull songs! What other treasures will my search into Dio's life unearth?! Love love J.T. after Steve Harris and Bruce Dickinson got me into them : D I also love that Iron Maiden, so influenced by J.T., sound nothing like them.
His cover of Dream On by Aerosmith is nice - better than the original. Personally I just found out about "In the Rest of My Life," "Smile for Me Lady," "Buckingham Blues," and "Walking Alone." I think that last one is from his days in Ronnie Dio and the Prophets. I didn't realize that in addition to the Elf albums, he had additional music released under the previous name of the band, The Elves.
Love the Jethro Tull original. This is rather bloody good. For you Yanks, a "dog-end" mentioned in the lyrics is British slang for a discarded cigarette butt.
Jethro Tull is the name of the band. Ian Anderson is their singer, flautist and acoustic guitarist. The person Jethro Tull was an 18th century agriculturalist who invented the seed drill of which the band borrowed his name and the rest is history.
Interestingly, Jennie Anderson, (Ian's then wife) wrote the lyrics for this song. Sadly, she and Anderson divorced in 1974. I can't help but wonder what a team they would have made. Its surely the best song they have? Though that is not to take anything away from Ian.
Знал что Elf выступали на разогреве у Deep Purple во время их гастролей по США (1972г.), но то , что у них в репертуаре были композиции Led Zeppelin, The Who и Jethro Tull, явилось для меня откровением...
Actually, I looked up the name Jethro Tull in the white pages. And it turns out that there are "30 results for Jethro Tull." You right about not a person But many persons. P.S. just being a smart alec.

Nice Mitch Hedberg reference
We need to make a documentary about this man immediately !!! LETS GET IT DONE !!!
Consider it done! 😃
"DIO: Dreamers Never Die" is supposed to come out September 1st this year.
Cool, one of my favorite songs performed by the best metal singer of all time!
My favorite singer of all times.Still be missed but will never be forgotten!!!\\__//
I for one, as a metal fan, and a fan of Jethro Tull, WAS delighted that they were awarded it! : D
I love JT but to finally have metal category and give it to a non metal band was bullshit.
Jethro Tull are Wonderful, Dio is Divine
I am as great Dio worshipper as the next guy (maybe more so) But boy, ELF! More underrated musicians are hard to find. Every one is awesome players
O melhor som, quem gosta ouve, quem não gosta bate palma e aprecia
Awesome
wow. i mis this man more every day.
Ronnie was a good Bass Guitar player.
Yeah, i guess he probably played bass here, the last album he played bass on was the first Elf album from 1972 i believe.
wow awesome !! love dio !! love elf
Cool
Wow what a great cover!
Wooahhh.... now THAT´S cool!! :)
Dio singing Jethro, love it.
diamante, tem brilho próprio
Now that's the definition of a good crossover.

I lived in Cortland briefly in the early 80's and was a Rainbow fan - I regret never meeting the man, The King
Sitting on a park bench eyeing little girls with bad intent
Chris Hansen would like a word with aqualung
hes said "shitting on a park bench" awesome.
Used to drive past his old house on my way home from work all the time
God damn! Lucky you, to have lived so close to God.
Missing the man on the silver mountain 😞
What a Gem! Thanks a million!
I think that once this recording was released, a black hole opened up somewhere in space.
Great

Just so you know, Jethro Tull is the name of the band, not the singer! Ian Anderson is the singer. Oh yea, Dio is THE MAN!

Love the Jethro Tull original. This is rather bloody good. For you Yanks, a "dog-end" mentioned in the lyrics is British slang for a discarded cigarette butt.
Thank you. I always wondered what that was
thank you! you learn a lot from tull
Thanks! That's good info.
Suprise!!!!!
I couldn't help but wonder what this would have sounded like with Ritchie Blackmore on guitar and Cozy Powell on drums. Mmm.
+horsepire Just those three guys...Ass-Kickers, Inc.!
would have been incredible
❤️D❤️I❤️O❤️
biglike
if this had won the first ever metal Grammy, no one would have minded
Damn right Ken! Metallica would have got up and shook his hand, and Dio would have praised the rest of the band. All respect the Dio!!!
Jethro Tull just threw away his flute when he heard this done by Dio.Now he's living on a park bench...

i heard she also took the photo that the album cover is painted from
💞
Jethro Tull was also the name of an agricultural pioneer from the 18'th century. But yeah, I meant the band.
Yeah, me too

Not the best, but the greatest voice in the heavy metal and rock n roll fucking world.
Not the best?
Actually, I looked up the name Jethro Tull in the white pages. And it turns out that there are "30 results for Jethro Tull." You right about not a person But many persons.
P.S. just being a smart alec.
Where in Cortland was this recorded? Anyone know?
On the cover it says recorded at The Bank, Cortland.
Yepp. After that the solo goes wrong.
Not a bad effort, but not a patch on the Tull original.
RIP RJD.
Ronnie James Dio did it better than Jethro Tull that had more balls than meaning.
Wow - check out the big brain on kurtwilliewalle ! PLOWMAN.....
I'm a TULL FAN but some cover songs are better than the original including this one
2:50 Russell Crowe detected.
Dio looks like Bob Dylan.
Jethro Tull is not a person.
You mean... 0:00-6:34
You mean...3:22 to 4:33
