This is probably my favorite Ronnie James Dio album. Overall. Front to back, not a bad song on it. This is absolutely the standout track. Ronnie really shows off his magic in this one.
Ronnie James Dio. The unsung hero of Metal, and Rock, and great emotional, vibrant, alive vocals! May he never be forgotten. He can sing the Blues! and goddamn he can sing the Metal!

I can remeber buying this album for a dollar at Titus Oaks in Brooklyn ,on Church ave in the early 70's , ain't heard it in years ,and l never realized it was Dio.... it had some great tunes tho ,in hindsight l should have put it together a long time ago ,but having first heard him with Rainbow ,it just never clicked...
My parents use to live in Liverpool New York there was a little place called Desert Shore Records I bought a couple gate fold albums of the History of Syracuse music had a few very early days DIO tracks on it really interesting stuff man has lots of other bands from that area on it to it's all good
thank you for this Ronnie, i just discovered this stuff randomly surfing assuming his best works came later. oh man, greatest metal vocalist of all time
Nice subject matter. I can almost imagine Ronnie walking (then boogieing) the streets of New Orlean's French Quarter, with red lights in the background.

Too soon RJD. Saw him on the master of the moon tour in a small club in Atlanta when I was a kid. Voice was still great as ever. Sounds so much like Ritchie on the solo also. Produced by Roger glover, I wonder if Ritchie had a secret cameo.

Wow learned Dio fronted a band before Rainbow, didn't realize theys ucked so bad. Good lord I hate most 70s rock. Same drum beats, same guitar licks, same annoying 50s diner style rock piano. Awful stuff. Thank Christ the 80s came along and we never had to endure more of this awful attempts at rock. That being said 70s Priest, Scorps, Sabbath and Rush were all fire. The rest awful just awful.
Good lord. I have never heard such shite in my life. Oh yea. Thank got for fucking Ratt and Poison. This shit is great. Dios raw voice here at its best
@@jtaco4101 Different strokes mate no need to get your panties in a bunch. And yes Ratti s a surprisingly underrated band. And I still hate 70s rock mostly. Priest and Sabath are cool, but that's about it. And I will agree Dio does sound good even in awful 70s rock. I was actually surprised at how old he was.
I was today-years-old when I heard this gem! Has it all!
Love it.
Is it even possible to dislike Ronnie's golden voice...I don't think so...R.I.P.
12 dumb asses think otherwise. But that's them.
This is probably my favorite Ronnie James Dio album. Overall. Front to back, not a bad song on it. This is absolutely the standout track. Ronnie really shows off his magic in this one.
I agree 100%
Totally his best! Still have this album 😊
Wow. Can't belive that I lived 23 years without knowing that song. Simply. Awesome.
Now you're 30..still a great record
Ronnie James Dio. The unsung hero of Metal, and Rock, and great emotional, vibrant, alive vocals! May he never be forgotten. He can sing the Blues! and goddamn he can sing the Metal!
No matter what Dio does, it's always fucking awesome.
Not fair to him, it isn't like he wanted to die.
i am literally 12 and i agree
@@XtaticShuffler =🇮🇹
Dio is usually associated with metal and hard rock, but Elf and the Prophets shows he can easily do jazz blues and 60's popular music
Thanks! i've been really into his older discography and i hadn't known he was in The Prophets!! He's great in that too i just gave a listen. quality of recordings could be better but eh.
He even did a version of great balls of fire
Absolutely yes!
@Kurt Lafond absolutely yes 2!
Love Love Love....
Ronnie + Elf = smiles
Like dad would always say he was always for the underdog, and that bad.Elf was the underdog, and they were awesome

What a Dio-esque album title. Trying to burn the sun. lol I love it!
Awesome
I agree, Ronnie is just awe inspiring
Not only in metal.... Imo he is one of the 3 greatest singers ever, alongside with Freddie Mercury and Frank Sinatra
The best Elf album!!....Along comes Ritchie Blackmore.....Should still have still been called Elf! .....Great bass player too I must say...But I'm partial!! My BRO!! Cheers, RIP Ronnie
+Keith Gruber Got that right about the bass player Craig's bass work on this and the first Rainbow album are simply amazing.. rest his soul.
What about the piano? Mickey Lee? Best ever! Yes this is the Best Elf Record to me...
I knew Craig..I miss Him

My favorite bass player! Better than with Blackmore. Loved this band!
