I flew in November of 2001. Two months after 9/11. From NYC-SF no less. The plane was DEFINITELY NOT crowded. Plus, the American Airlines 587 crash happened in Queens literally three days before I was due to fly. I've been flying since I was a little kid. I was WELL-TRAVELED already by the time I was 18. After living through 9/11 being in NYC; and that American Airlines crash SO SOON after and losing my cousin in my childhood to a plane crash, I was LITERALLY TERRIFIED to fly. And I'd NEVER been scared of flying, or of airports, or anything like that before. It was DEFINITELY a VERY weird and emotionally charged time to take a plane flight. It wasn't until MONTHS & MONTHS after 9/11 that flying felt like a more "normalized" thing to do.
My best friend was turning 21 on 9/12/2001 & we had tickets for a red eye flight to Las Vegas on the 11th. I think we were on the 1st plane to Vegas out of PDX. It was very different. Nobody was in Vegas. It was crazy
In less than 2 decades passengers confidence resumed, a new generations of flyers appeard influenced by much cheeper fares sold online, the fear of fly almosts eradicated but sadly the disrespect for flying fellow is on the rise.

I flew in October of 2001. I think there were more flight attendants than passengers.

It must have been hard to feel like celebrating.
@JuliaGulia310 it would have today but we were 21. Young dumb & pissed off at Osama Bin Laden.
