Also bin laden declared a fatwa on America in 1998 and al qaeda bombed the U.S embassy in Nairobi, Kenya that year, then in 2000 they bombed USS Cole. President Clinton said he could have killed bin laden in 1999 but that would have meant blowing up a village of innocent civilians and he was clearly trying to avoid another incident like the 1988 shoot down of Iran air flight 655 by USS Vincennes.
This is going to sound heartless in some ways but ......... the passengers on Flight 93 weren't fighting back because they were interested in protecting their fellow Americans. They were fighting back to save their own lives - and there's nothing wrong with that, either.
This is the kind of heroic stories you hear about in legends and novels and see in movies. Absolutely chilling that the passengers actually had the bravery to go through with attempting to foil the hijacking. RIP.

Why do people always try to add this nonsensical self sacrifice narrative? This video with the cockpit recorder transcript literally disproved what you just said. It’s probably better that you don’t remember it, even from a distance. Don’t allow your generation to ever forget about what happened. I’m already saddened to see teenagers that don’t understand it.
2:22 "Advise you to stay away from that aircraft. Go north, fast as you can."
I don't know why but that line, and tone of voice the controller delivered it in, gave me goosebumps. He *knew* something really bad was going to happen.
@Kris Watson That is not what I meant. I meant that the controller started to feel something dangerous was going on.
@Kris Watson Feel free to believe that, but I don't subscribe to that line of thought.
Yea, he knew an air force jet was closing in to shoot it down.
He was probably thinking 93 would try to crash into the other one.

Flight 93 deserves the Medal of Honor for protecting their fellow Americans and defeating the terrorists
@Thomas Paine The C.I.A trained those guys in the 80’s to fight the Russians in Afghanistan and didn’t account for the fact that they hate us too
Also bin laden declared a fatwa on America in 1998 and al qaeda bombed the U.S embassy in Nairobi, Kenya that year, then in 2000 they bombed USS Cole.
A Congressional Gold Medal
