    That had to feel pretty darn good. I like that the exhaust has a little muffle to it. Sounds great fully opened at first, but it can be hard to live with.

    Incredible. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Can't wait to see it with the 40s. And hope that the last part of the video means your pup is feeling better.

      Thanks, she is doing a little better now. The 40s are coming to the videos soon. Hard to not just go ahead and throw them on there but I would have to take them right back off soon anyway.

    Hey brother thanks as always for your step by step videos. I starred a build knowing I can always reference your videos. I’m now stuck doing the fuel lines specially the return form the engine. How was it you ran it and also the return injector line. I would greatly appreciate if you can help me.

    • @tossthewrench
      @tossthewrench  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Everything on the engine side of the lines are basically ran the same as factory. I have the supply and return to the tank ran on the passenger side. My return goes through a cooler at the front before it is dumped back into the tank. Supply from tank has a prefilter, then lift pump, then post filter before it gets to the engine. There are some diagrams available online for specifics about the engine side of the fuel lines. Hope this helps!

    You planning on running a body lift? Just looking at your IC plumbing against your airlift hooks... if you don't then you're not going to be able to close the hood :) If you do, make sure and get a kit that lifts EVERYTHING - not just the body! Fuel tanks, bumpers, hood, steering column.... Looks great!

    • @tossthewrench
      @tossthewrench  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll have a lift on the body and hood. Bumper won't but I have plans for that! Steering column extension I'll need to get once the body is back on. Thanks man! I appreciate it

    Hey brother almost done with mine to do the first start on frame. I’m following all your steps. I have my stand alone from dmax swap and also got the 5 channel switch but not sure what it is. You referenced it on your video but didn’t discuss what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    I was hoping you would show all the wiring, now to figure out where it can all fit neatly. I just moved the batteries from my HMMWV from under seat to under hood. Made a custom battery box and moved the shunts and buss bar to engine compartment, now I need to shorten and lengthen some of the wires to finish. What is your background in diesel to pull this project off? I have a 6.5 turbo diesel that I may swap into my 6.5 NA, but I drive a duramax LB7 everyday and love it. Looking for a d max pull out or totaled gm for a possible future swap.

      @tossthewrench  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't done the final wiring run yet. The battery I had just sitting by the side of the frame. I will likely do like you had and move them to under the hood. Final wiring I want to do when the body is back on so that the body harness can be mounted to it instead of the engine/frame. I don't have a background in diesel. Had messed with gas engines mostly before this and did A LOT of research when going into this build. I've heard the turbo 6.5s do well in the humvees as well. And it never hurts to have an extra Duramax around for backup or a future project!

    Yep! You always cringe a little on first start up and your heart rate rises! 😂. Sounded good. May have been the mics, but sounded louder idling! Coming along great. Not long.....and you’ll be cruisin’ the road!

    • @tossthewrench
      @tossthewrench  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The mic does alter the sound some. They will boost some pitches and not others. Still not great at sound correction with my video editing software yet.

    I want a duramax or Cummins so bad but I definitely can't afford 30k and I don't have a place to do it myself. I'm slowly learning how to do certain things but this is a little above my head.

      It just takes some persistence sometimes to learn some of it. It has taken a lot of research and time though.

      @@tossthewrench How much have you spent with doing everything yourself?

    • @tossthewrench
      @tossthewrench  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't added it all up yet. I probably will when I get it done but for now I just do what I can afford when I can. It's kind of a budget build but at the same time I don't want to skimp on parts and pay for it later.

    I appreciate the videos, very informative,
    I know there are kits available for about $15K that supposedly include everything including mounts, body lift, exhaust, drive shaft, radiator gauges, cooler, etc.
    What was your approximate cost for all the conversion parts needed not including the drivetrain to complete the conversion and can you provide links to all the parts you recommend.
    Thanks in advance!

    • @tossthewrench
      @tossthewrench  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm planning on doing a video later breaking it all down when the build is done or at least driving anyway that way final costs are more accurate in case something comes up. Thanks for watching!

      I sure appreciate the response man! I have a 99 Hummer H1 with the original 6.5, Also, I purchased a complete Duramax drivetrain (LMM with Allison 1000) with the harness, ecm, tcm, pedal and everything. I want to do the swap, There is a company that does the tuning for an H1 and Harness modification to make the engine run standalone, Is that something you would consider to be a necessary step?
      Any advice you can provide would be awesome.
      If you can put a list of necessary items for a complete swap, I would definitely consider purchasing the info or if you put a kit together even better.
      Something like this:

    • @tossthewrench
      @tossthewrench  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ended up having a company do the harness and tuning on ecm and tcm. The harness probably could be done yourself if you are good with wires but to me seemed worth it to have the company do it instead of me spending so much time on it. Ecm will shoot a lot of codes once a lot of the harness is taken out.
      I plan on making a list of everything I used for the swap. Still have a little ways to go before I'm comfortable with posting one. I want to test it all out before I recommend things.

      Thanks! The compressor came with the engine and the condensor on the stack is part of an aftermarket truck kit. I haven't showed much of it yet tho. It's part of a custom console I designed before the duramax swap started.
