HMMWV in the Snow - V8 Diesel Sound

- Hey Everyone!
Somtimes, we enjoy just playing with trucks and cameras.
And we recently had a bit of snowfall, making the perfect opportunity to do just that.
So we took the Humvee out, to do a bit of winter-wheeling, and take it off road through some ice covered mud holes.
I left out all the talking, leaving just the sound of the Humvee/V8
making this like ASMR for us truck nerds :)
And we would also like to use this, to wish you a Very Merry Christmas! (for those of you that celebrate it) And Happy holidays to all!

when i was in the army we always ran snow chains on the humvees its really helps they kinda suck in the snow especially when its really cold out.
I bet that makes a big difference.
These tires are really not very good for snow/ice.

All HMMWV owners should learn from his perfect BTM(Brake Throttle Modulation) applications and stop being stupid about it, use the capability the way it was designed to be used.
I agree. I’ve struggled to make it work but am getting better at it. This is truly a case of slow is fast and fast is slow. Applying brake while trying to get unstuck is a natural process but when done right it pays big time.

And frankly I was really surprised at the offroad skills of the Humvee, every time it look like it is stuck, but then a locker kicks in (i think) and it just goes on 😁

Well yes, it has 3 lockers. Sort of :)
The center diff, is a pretty normal type.
but for the front and rear axle, it has what they call "Torque biasing differentials" but what they really are, is "Torsen-differentials". that you can "Lock" by applying the brakes, when the wheels are slipping.

Same to you - now this might sound like a stupid question: But does a HMMWV have a cabin heater?
This age HMMWV has a cabin heater and it can get REALLY hot, assuming the coolant flow is good and the heater core isn't blocked. There is a cable actuator under the hood to direct hot coolant into the core, and then a two speed (low/high) fan control with a cable controlled diverter for dash/floor or window defrost.. (The window defrost really doesn't work well.). But even with a soft-top on this, it can stay plenty warm enough even down to -20F/-29C.. (I've not tried it colder yet.)

A better set of tires would help a lot.
Chains too. They make a huge difference.
learn the break modulation technique and you'll reduce risks of breaking a shaft when a spinning wheel suddenly catches.
This was part of me praticing it. so i was doing it :)
It just didn't always help much, in some of this slippery snow and ice.

It satisfies my curiosity in the far northern United States like Alaska when in winter it snows with Siberian temperatures come on - 12 to -16 and even -35 - 40 degrees, what is the grade and viscosity of the engine oil used for your SUVs, do you use off-road mud tires for mud on snow or do you use thermal winter road tires or snow chains? ) I drive my petrol Suzuki Jimny 4x4 with the m13a 1.3 LT petrol engine. , petrol since 2001. I use Liqui Moly Mos2 10w40 engine oil with molybdenum disulphide and I also added an anti-wear additive from Liqui Moly Certec and, like all Terrain tires and Terrain Mud tires, it measures 205-70-15 and therefore I use gasoline additives that are used to clean the fuel line! And i'll just say right away, i'm not in Alaska, or Northern America for that matter, I'm in Denmark.
So i really don't have to deal with those extreme tempratures. the worst it will get here, is about -15c but for most of the winter, it's barely below 0c so my machines are just running the standard oils, that they would normally have.
And most of my trucks are just running the same mud-tires all year round. apart from my daily-driver, (Suzuki jimny) what will get some more dedicated "Winter tires"
