One of my favorite ships in the game. If you are getting one, try the customizer options for it guys. You will be allowed to make yours the way you like it. It's awesome!
I own a few ships, 315p is still equally my favorite ship in the entire game and is my daily driver. It also has a larger quantum fuel tank compared to other ships it's size. Except the Cutter, which has a ridiculous sized quantum tank, even bigger then a 600i lol. I think the biggest issue with the 315p is the same as all ships, they need completing to the standard they have been set to in their descriptions.
Grav-lev landing gear would allow the ship to automatically raise itself for cargo loading, and to lower itself for entry by a small staircase like the 100 series. It would also look cool and match the shapely blue glow aesthetic of the Origin thrusters. I know some people don't like grav-lev landing gear but such exotic high tech would definitely increase the luxury theme of Origin.
The nomad is the ship I'd like to see you analyse: weird ship with lots of potential as an exploration/pathfinder but crippled because "reasons" to your average pickup.
Thank you so much! :) I confirm that Nomad will be covered soon :) And I agree with your summary, it deserves more consideration. It is a very good ship
All the weaknesses of this ship are being worked on and being rebalanced. The hold up is what will help this ship will also help other ships especially those with advanced sensors, cockpits and aerodynamic control surface physics. There was a recent talk on CIGs latest thursday Inside Star CItizen how aerodynamic control surfaces will work and how they will be closer to those of a flight sim game. 6 months ago they were covering how all the ships will get further customized cockpit displays depending on their make and role. All these things of course take time. Advanced sensors are the elephant in the room as they have not really advanced significantly on how various sensors will work because a lot of the other aspects of the PU have not been fleshed out.
I had an Origin 325a before the rework and was glad to see it get redesigned to its' current layout. I picked up the 315p with an optional paint scheme and all the little add-ons that were "quality of life" and "rule of cool" that were sold with the ship at the time of the rework. I soon realized my mistake when flying in any sort of combat with only two wing guns and lacking the nose gun of the other variants. With the cargo hold loaded from the rear of the ship I never figured out how a forward aiming tractor beam would be of any benefit. The lack of any dedicated scanning suite or other science station on board sealed the deal for me getting rid of the ship. My fleet of ships is geared towards whether I have org friends on or not, so I want ships I can solo as well as crew depending on the number of buddies in game that session. My Exploration/Science division of my fleet used to start with the Reliant Sen (which I saw as more of a runabout for the MISC Endeavor), then the Origin 315p, a Freelancer DUR, and a 600i Explorer and then tops out with the MISC Endeavor. I've since melted or CCU'd most of that lineup. Instead of a SEN, I have a Cutter Scout as my starter for that career and to carry in the Endeavor's hanger with a C8R Pisces ambulance. The 315p was replaced by an Origin 400i, while the 600i was replaced by a the Carrack Expedition with the Pisces Expedition snub and an Ursa Rover. The Freelancer DUR with its useless fuel refinery went to the MIS missile variant. Finally, I have the Drake Corsair which is classified as an "Exploration" vessel but really, we all know it is a gunship masquerading as an Explorer.
I agree with you. I've had a similar exploration fleet in the past, and I've CCu'd all of them. The 600i is a ship I regret buying so much, I hate it, it's internal layout is nonsense and just not functional. Today, the only exploration ships I love are the Carrack and the Terrapin, especially the latter because it makes me feel safe, it's basically a flying tank :)
With a 600i rework promised using up some of the wasted space I may look at it again some day as a step up from the 400i to my goal of a 890 jump. That won't be with a CCU though, that will be with UEC.@@gioru5
Those interior changes would be incredible. Only alternative I would give is move the external storage to under the bed like in the 400i, and replace it along with the wine glass holders into the suit locker so you can keep the gun racks.
Ive been using the 315p as my daily driver for a bit, it surprisingly holds up in combat and can hold its own during bounty missions and sometimes in PVP thanks to it being so small and fast. It works as a good drug smuggler thanks to the 12 SCU of storage, and with its stock quantum drive, its slow sure but it can go across the entire system several times thanks to it being so efficient.
9 months later - thank you for this video and for the informations about "fuel scooping" in star citizen. I have heard about that but was not able to find informations. The Origin 315p is best compared to the Avenger Titan but is sadly outperformed. But I like the Tracktorbeam and the very good Quantumfuelcapacity. thats why I am thinking about a 5,- € update
Great video. Exploration is still is a long way to go. And maybe the 315p will get some tweaks once it becomes available (many years from now). I absolutely love the idea of side windows. And having more long term living quarters or even access to the cargo hold would be great. There is a chance we get ship tractor beams in the near future (1-2 years). This could be little game changer as we already get removable ship components with 3.19. So if you could fly up a derelict vessel and use the tractor beam to take a weapon to your cargo hold - all from your cockpit - that would be great. (hopefully so) Really love your ship reviews - keep up the good work.
That's right! This is exactly what I believe (hope) will happen. The 315p is destined for greatness, I am sure :) Thanks for the kind words and for this comment, which was a real pleasure to read. Next stop: the cutter! :D
Honestly, this is an amazing smuggler. With some upgrades you can get rhe EM signature down to that you cannot be spotted until you are 2KM away from your target. With its speed you can outrun everything and 12 SCU is perfect as a smuggler due to the low availability of illegal goods. I strongly disagree with the 4/10 rating or that smuggling isnt sustainable. There is a lot of money to be made with small amounts, and 12SCU is the perfect amount as you can fill it up but there will still be enough to buy the low amount of stuff available. Unlike a cutlass which will be hard to fill up. The risks arent as high as 12 SCU isnt that much to lose but at the same time can make you millions
I like the 315p, however i do feel it needs some attention from CIG.I like your points on how to improve the ship i would add that increasing the hull hp particularly around the fragile wings and removing the wing mounted guns to replace with four fixed internal size 2 mounts similar to the ones on the nose of the vanguard series to increase stealth and firepower would be a great addition to this ship which also would give the option for four missile mounts on the wings thereby making it more competitive in combat. I also feel that despite its larger fuel tank it still needs a boost in that department if it is to become a true pathfinder I tend to use mine for smuggling most of the time at the moment.
Excellent reviews, subscribing. 👍Regarding the tractor beam, it's in the game now. It can not be used to load the cargo bays. It's unbelievably silly, all it can do is move things around in front of the ship.
Thank you so much! Yes, it's a sad implementation of the tractor beam... it could be easily modified to be able to turn 360 degrees, which would be more useful...
I just upgraded my Cutter to this ship and aside from missing the VTOL in high winds in atmosphere I am already finding the 315p to be more enjoyable to mess around with. The cutter is fantastic and has weight and that quantum fuel load is crazy but it is too slow - doing the box cargo missions in the 315 took me much less time, for example. Anyway, good to read in the comments that this ship is being worked on along with others so it may turn out to be a very sound investment :)
Thanks for the comment. Yes, the Cutter is so slow, that's one of the reasons it didn't score higher...the 315p will probably become a great ship, but in the meantime you could consider a Nomad. It's really a great ship. Not pretty, but versatile and feature-rich
@@gioru5Yeah, the 315 has some foibles for sure. The cargo bays are fickle and sometimes glitch through the cargo and drop it. Also got stuck in the bed when it retracted before I stood up but I am enjoying the speed. Picked up an Avenger Titan actually which is a bit slower than 315 but probably more versatile.
@@gioru5 Yeah, I actually considered the Nomad but I've picked up an Avenger Titan to try that since it seems pretty versatile and I actually like the cobbled together ancient Star Wars interior. The 315 has some issues with the cargo trays where cargo glitches through it and I found it very problematic with multiple packages where one would lift with the tray and another glitch through and then I got stuck in the bed because it retracted before my character stood up. Anyway, the Titan should be more versatile and hopefully less fickle than the 315. Having a fun time with the game but have only just scratched the surface really. Need to setup my Xbox Elite controller and try some of the dogfighting and only tried my first bunker mission the other day.
@@gioru5 Yeah, it's definitely more practical than the 315 at the moment but I'm not really getting the chance to use it at the moment. SC keeps breaking in some form or another that forces me to quit the game to fix it. Currently re-installing the whole thing but not sure that'll make any difference.
I would also love if they added a Nomad-style fold out chair to the counter to the 300i series in general. Should the bed really be the only place to sit in a luxury touring or exploration ship?
Hahahaha you are right, great idea to use the Nomad chair. I totally agree. The 315p has so much untapped potential... btw, I have to update the review, since the tractor beam has been added ( I didn't manage to activate it yet, tho...)

I think it's awesome for scouting for resources, delivery missions and fast trading of small cargo hauls cause it's really fast, has a good amount of cargo for its size and a good amount of QD fuel and near infinite H fuel, because whether it has a fuel scoop or not, it has an enormous H fuel tank. However, with that it cuts into the territory of starter ships. It does all those things better, but how much better and whether it's worth the extra cost I couldn't say.
Woof. This made me compare the 315p to the Mustang Beta and it is not a fun comparison for the 315p as SC currently stands. Give it a quantum drive that means something. I would love to see the 4scu cargo sacrificed to a s2 quantum drive and a tank to match. That alone would be enough of a change to really make it special.
Ironically, I think its home is as the scout for a very small mining org, as its tractor would allow swapping saddlebags to a cargo vessel and the scanner can be used to find resources. Entertaining to be a luxury ship for mining...
