BeatEmUps This game man, this game. It's fantastic. I have a lot of games for the Switch (most I got from a video of yours) and I enjoy every one however as far as Octopath goes this game was a no brainer for me. I've always loved RPG's and have been waiting for a game like this for what seemed like an eternity. They definitely pushed the Switch to its limits with the visuals I love this game so much I haven't played my PS4 or Xbox One since it came out and I don't foresee that changing anytime soon!
I started playing this game very casually at around 5pm...stopped at around 3 am after remembering, as a human being, I had to eventually shower and eat. It hooked me violently in an almost Zelda BOTW way. Almost.
I'm new to Nintendo, and I was looking to get an RPG, my list came down to the Octopath and Zelda BOTW. But I can only get one, which one would you chose?
I think you should get BOTW, all the games mentioned are good, like really really good. I say zelda because: The game is beautiful (so is the other games) The pacing is amazing, i was immediately hooked! Xenoblade chronicles 2 is what I struggled with, its good, the story is extremely interesting but the gameplay is hard to get into, ppl say that 'you'll get into it once you get to know the combat' which will take a long time, there are also many tutorials so if u get this game, play it properly so that you understand everything. I don't have octopath, but I heard the ost is amazing, (again all of the games mentioned are amazing), but its turned based, so you might not be into it, however, if you're into turned based battle. But I'd definitely say get BOTW!
@@anikethperumthodi1537 i would say emulate and play for free xenoblade chronicles 1 on pc with hd textures. One of if not the best game of all times. Xenoblade 2 is awesome but takes an absurd amount of hours to get into. At first I agreed with him and didnt really like it. The game sat for 5 months and xenogears is my favorite game so im a fanboy lol. I finally beat it last week. It has some of the worst item grinding ive ever seen and the battle system requires rare blades to get imo fun. But when you do unlock them the game really opens up. Wow man!...you've really enthused me towards getting a copy of this game. Your energy enveloping this title is infectious...really it is!! I don't have a N-Switch just yet but I am looking thru the games lists out there and checking out the reviews for what appeals to me..and now, because of your relentless enthusiam, I am enthused...lol. I totally agree with your take on the graphical style, its a whole new genre of art that has been pioneered here..and yes, its already been knocked out of the park!!...AND..don't get me started on the music! You're right, music is huge in game and in film. You can judge a film as lacking, just because the atmospherical score is not right; its the same with games. Not epic when it needs to be, not sombre enough when it needs to be..this stuff can really have a huge impact on the visual story telling aspect. Get the music right and most of the time, you have doubled the creditibility of that media. So, right you are, the music rocks like a Led Zep concert, even though its a poor description of the ambience within this game, it descibes beautifully, for me, the way this music takes hold of you. Great review buddy, I think you will have turned alot of people onto this game. Peace!
I bought this game and immediately after buying i thought: "I should have gotten something else like Xenoblade or Tropical Freeze." (I'm not an rpg or jrpg fan as of late). Got home, reluctantly removed the seal and popped the game in. The theme music ensnared me and I listen to its entirety before i realized that i had to start the game. I picked Cyrus as my starting character and went through chapter 1. after roughly 2-3 hours, I decided that I love this game and that my purchase was more than worth it. Go buy it peeps.
TealTrumpet11 you and I were in the same dilemma! Lol I was going to buy Xenoblade but my coworker was telling me how awesome it was and I also looked up reviews for it, as they were all stellar, and I couldn't be happier! So glad I picked this game up.
I already love this game, just wanted to watch you nerd out over one of the greatest switch games to release. I've only played 15 h (work sucks) and I already feel like I got my money's worth, it satisfied my wallet so fast, I dont even need to beat the game to be satisfied about the purchase.
I am in the same situation (when FE got delayed I almost broke my computer mouse). I have played Disgaea 5 and even though it is an.... intresting game, it did nothing to quench my Fire Emblem thirst.
This game holds a special place in my heart, because this was the game that me and my boyfriend relaxed, and played together, he had played the game, I hadn't... and we just cuddled last winter, and went through it together for the week he was here visiting. It was special, and will forever be nostalgic to me :)
So in a way, this is like Final Fantasy 6 where we have a beautiful roster of character that plays differently, and each of them have their own story that captures the players. I think I see why I was looking forward to this game, I love FF6!!
How did I miss this game for three years?! I just saw it on gamepass and downloaded on a whim. As someone who grew up on Final Fantasy Tactics, it feels like I found an old friend
Ophelia Fielding shouldn't a game be good and enjoyable at all parts of the game though. The problem with the game is that it takes so long just to pick up. That's why the game is just ok.
I have put over 180 hours into my save file, and let me tell you, every second was worth it. Bought it last year when it released, and finished it this year right before Three Houses dropped.
I thought I was the only one. I'm still several hours away from completion. I've been playing casually for almost 2 years now, and have over 110 hours of play time. I MUST finish it! Lol.
Beating the game and putting 140 hours into it, it reminds me so much of RPGs back on the original playstation. This game was such a breath of fresh air amid free to play games and yearly Call of Duty releases. I, too, have the collectors edition!
Well, the only chapter that i miss is the 4th one of alfyn, then i got every secondary class, the 8 ones + the 4 sevret ones, lile the starseer etc. And i'm at 40 hours. Is that much stuff to do after game?
I just wanna say that if it werent for me watching this review, I would've never gotten this amazing game and fallen in love with it. Thank you for sorta unintentionally introducing me to one of my favorite games of all time :)
When I first saw Haánit, I first thought she was boring and very dull and I wouldn’t keep her in my party. BUT OH BOY WAS I WRONG! I literally have a deadly petting zoo in my grasp!!! Haánit is one of my favourite characters now~
Thank you so much for not yelling. I love it when videos are calmer; don't get me wrong, I love it when you are crazily excited too, but it is nice to be calm sometimes.
I love how this game feels like the older final fantasies, where it has that same love and care put into it we used to feel, in which we actually cared what happened to these characters. What's better is that it brings back the turn based combat, which I feel is why FF has been hurting so much lately (they've put more focus on combat, less on story and exploration in the last few games).
Bought the NSwitch some weeks ago, at present I'm hooked with zelda botw, but loved octopath since they revealed the trailer. Played the demo some days ago and totally loved it. Just waiting for my birthday to get it xD
I love you Wood! I literally always thought I hated video games. But then I started watching your videos and you convinced me to get a switch and now it is ALL I DO and I LOVE IT! You’re wonderful! Keep doing what you’re doing!
Man I played the demo, and instantly took me back in time. I loved it automatically. I loved the demo and beat the 3 hours. I then got my keys and drove to a gamestop and bought the full game
I wanted to play this game for ages. I’m not usually one for RPGs of this kind but my curiosity was itching to give this go. 20+ hours and I am hooked, really wish I played it earlier just never got round to it.
Played the Demo when I first bought my Switch and loved it. Been trying to convince myself to buy it for months and your video just gave me that hype so I bought it. Can’t wait to dive in, too bad I’m trying to run through FF9 at the same time.
So glad to see this review! This is easily one of my top 3 games of all time and I really enjoyed you talking about it! Side note, I finished the 4:30 quest by guiding his mother and she scolded him and made him give up. I didn't know you could actually get them to fall in love by challenging him! That's really cool.
Yeah, there's another side quest in Flamesgrace where an innocent man was put in Jail. You could either steal the key from the guard and free him, or you could Inquire the townsfolk and find a witness who can clear his name. The amount of detail put into this game is insane.
Funny that just a couple of months ago people said that Switch doesnt have system seller after zelda and mario release, and then BOOM came this bad boy out of nowhere 😂 Its a good time to have a switch fellas
This isn't a system seller . Is a collector's item seller . This means people will buy the game for collecting increasing value . No many people would buy a new Switch just to play this game . But some people would be interested to buy the game to say they have good taste in collecting things . Or to resell . Or for retro / nostalgia collectors . Or speculators trying to see if their investing on this game will rise on price .
Maria Rodriguez Did you see the system sales bump in the Japanese market alone immediately when this was released? I mean I wouldn't say it's on the scale of a new Mario or Zelda title, but it definitely have Nintendo a big sales boost even though they're consistently the top seller over there.
infernaltim1 sales are fluctuating between 40k and 50k weekly on Japan since the start of the year. And last week, the most sold game was a drum rhythm game . I could say that game was the reason for the extra sales last week and not be wrong. Or that Nintendo release 10,000 - 20,000 more units on the market the week they think Switch new games will be released on Japan. Sales last 2 weeks were only a bit higher than average. Is possible to say they were due to OT . But they weren’t high enough to justify calling that game a system seller yet at least on Japan.
This game has, without a doubt, the most stunning visuals I've ever seen in a Switch game. The background set pieces are STUNNING1 If this had been the art style for Bravely Default for the 3DS, that would have made it my all-time favorite RPG.
You are gushing over this game the same way me and my best mate do, and we don't even have it yet! We have been excited since the announcement day and everything we have seen since only pushes us to wanting it even more! Sadly we are incredibly broke right now :P which disappointed my friend most of all because he was REALLY wanting the collector's edition.
At first I thought I would never even think of buying this game, but since this review you have changed my opinion, and I want to thank you for that as now you have interested me in a whole new genre of games that I never thought I would enjoy. Until now!
I was thinking about buying this game before I watched your video. You so successfully brought across your love for this game that I got goosebumps. Subbed - liked - hyped to get this game tonight. Thanks so much for your effort and passion!!
Oh no. I can't watch the rest of this video... *Starts flashback* "I'm going to buy a switch." "don't know I don't have any games". "Let me get a demo. Oh this one looks fun." *Downloads a 3 hour demo of octopath Traveller* *then plays the game addictively Non-Stop* "Oh my gosh so unhealthy for me I'm so glad I don't have the full game need to make sure I don't watch anything else about this game or I might end up buying it" *And took watching the rest of this video. Rushes down to GameStop and buy the full game.*
I found a standard copy at Best Buy. They had 5 or 6 on the shelf but I already have the game. I buy my games physical. Good luck though, it’s an amazing game imo.
It might be my new favorite RPG. The 8 stories and characters are so great and the over arching story is presented in such a smart way. I was in the middle of Cyru's story and they were about to reveal an ancient city and I audibly spoke "Hornburg" before they said it. I had subconsciously been putting the clues together while playing other characters stories. Looking forward to trying to complete a story with only one character. The freedom of how you progress is super cool.
I'm really enjoying this game 50 hours in but it's not perfect. My biggest issues are the length of the chapters (some characters) and dungeons as well as the progression of the story in each chapter. The story objectives are very "go here. talk to this person," and the dungeons are just b-lines to the boss with random encounters and chests being the only challenge/reward. I wish the game incorporated more puzzle solving. Maybe have a series of switches to activate to get to the boss. Maybe have the player search various rooms for a key. Maybe don't tell the player exactly which 3 townsfolk have the info/items they need to advance the story.
I was a little bit shocked to see the amount of hand holding this game does during the story telling segments, but I haven't let it spoil the experience for me yet.
Just bought a Switch last week, and I'm feeling a renewed itch for JRPGs. Haven't played a JRPG since Final Fantasy VIII. No particular reason, just got into western RPGs and competitive shooters and was sidetracked for a couple decades. I want to get back into the Japanese stuff and this game looks to be perfect!
Ha i did the same with the collectors edition. I bought it normal , love it so much went and bought collectors and gave normal one to a friend. Therion is the best imo
The map is the only weak point of the game where I’m concerned. The mini-map shows to little to be useful and the lack of zoom in on the world map is sometimes frustrating. On the upside, I like how you can teleport to previously visited towns. BTW, been playing this in French, and the translation is top-notch.
you can zoom in and out on the world map with right stick. imo the mini-map doesn't need to be more detailed, that would make finding the chests less challenging
Planning to get a switch in a couple of weeks, already got BOTW, lol. Then I've been hearing about this, and this gave is exactly why I decided to get a switch. Instead of forcing things into to 3D with polygons and real time action to cater to a bigger base, Octopath uses sprites, which I love, and improves upon a well established formula that works.
I did Tony and Mathilda’s side quest when I was around level 55, and unfortunately I was too strong for Tony to beat me. Thankfully, his mother is lurking nearby, so I figured out to allure her to talk to him and solved the side quest that way. How cool that there are multiple solutions!!
Subscribed! :-D Youre enthusiasm totally won me over! Too many people have been complaining about the story so I'm glad to see someone agrees that its fantastically enjoyable
I haven't played octopath traveler yet but I do plan on it. Currently, my favorite RPG is EarthBound, but the way you are hyping this game up, I wonder if that'll change.
Earthbound and golden sun (1+2) those are my favourite. They have a special place in my heart for being so amazing and I think octopath will be perfect for me and hold another one of those spaces
People actually like puzzles? I usually like puzzles to be reserved for actual "puzzle" games. I always kind of wondered why so many games (of varying genres) utilize so many puzzles, so it's refreshing to know that people actually enjoy them.
Lucas Kattah not necessarily, it's mainly the art style of the fighting that reminds me of Golden Sun, but the story in Octopath is pretty neat so far, I'm only about 2 or 3 hours in
Steve Kealey It's usually used to provide some variety and break up the pace. It also helps get the brain pumping before the next fight. Puzzles were included in Mario & Rabbid's and I think it's better with the inclusion of it.
I'm so grateful i found your page. Your taste and opinions match mine so well plus your energy is awesome. It's making me consider getting into point and clicks lol. I've had my eye on octopath for awhile and it's why i got a switch (that and breath of the wild)
60-80 hours long, you say? I've been playing it more than 60 hours already and I still didn't get to any 2nd chapter with any character tbh, I didn't collect all the characters yet. I just travel and grind :D
Gamer Addy 99 Xeno 2 never caught me because the fan service is just extremely cringe and the story doesn’t seem to appealing. This game is a lot of fun but that’s just me.
I fully agree that (a) it's my favorite Switch game to play right now, and (b) it's not better than Zelda or Mario. But I do like it more than Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
Im a salesman in a gaming shop, i used to make faces when people pick out these kind of games like are you serious even tho i have switch, then i got interested into your review and now i realize that i was a dumbass. Looks freaking awesome and the story and characters are unique plus the combat, the way u presented it, i like it. Tho i have way too many games sitting on my desk some of them arent even opened yet, im deff getting this one for my collection.
The game has its nice moments (soundtrack, combat, art style) but the bad story, no interaction between the characters and the HUGE grind after each chapter (so you can have a fighting chance on the next chapter) is killing it for me. It's a shame because the concept ideia is great. Just my opinion.
Mário Lopes Dude I've literally just started the chapter 2s and if you're actually grinding then I'm convinced you don't play many RPGs, if you just explore a bit then you'll find you're actually overleved
Yeah, I'm nearing the end of chapter 2 and I haven't had to do any grinding at all. I guess if you just want to go straight to your destination ASAP, or if you run away from fights, then you might have to grind later. But if you wander off course and explore the maps a bit then things are pretty easy. That's half the fun of RPG's for me anyway.
i have only had to grind when I've gone out of my way to do something which i don't have to do yet like getting the advanced classes, and even then it's not taken much. and concerning the interaction between characters, sure its not to the level of bravely default, at all, but i do feel the travel banter gives enough of an insight into how the characters perceive one another and they can be really interesting, especially considering most jrpgs with continuous party interaction just have everyone all friendly and super buddy buddy all the time whereas octopath has characters question one anothers choices and conveys the idea that they really do come from different walks of life and don't know one another that well. and the story is very subjective. there are definite reasons not to like it, it doesn't have an epic overarching story and there's no big bad overlord which everyone needs to come together to beat and stuff. but in the smaller tales there's a lot of heart and i found myself really invested in each character and their story.
This game is not near a 10 in my opinion. Good rpg but had problems with the story structure. Xenoblade chr 2 is better than this game felt more grand in everyway. zelda is ofc a better game too.
I love how, after 3 years, this is still exactly what I think of Octopath, but also what I think of Triangle Strategy that just came out (same, if not EVEN better) - also eager for your review of Triangle!!
Look, I'm gonna say it. I enjoyed this enough to put it above all games on the switch right now, having played the majority of the big names on switch, this game takes the top spot. I've played and loved Xenoblade 2, Smash Ultimate, BOTW, Mario Odyssey, etc, but none of them have the same charm. Xenoblade 2 DLC is an extremely close second, but the main game just didn't give me enough to throw it top spot - too much fanservice for me. Smash Ultimate is fun, but burns out fast. It's good for short plays and the occasional WoL marathon. To me, BOTW just felt like Nintendo saw Dark Souls and just said copypaste the combat with some editing to separate it. Story is passable, but wasn't anything special. Shield surfing was the best part of BOTW. Mario Odyssey was nice. It had it's quirks, and is a solid game, but it's just another Mario game - Peach is kidnapped by Bowser, albeit higher stakes this time, and Mario has to save her. None of these games have the soundtrack to come close, either. Xenoblade was exceptional in some pieces, especially the DLC, but some of the area themes just weren't memorable at all, Smash Ultimate literally just uses music and remixes from other games, BOTW was nice while listening but extremely forgettable aside from the Talus theme and Mario Odyssey had no memorable pieces aside from Jump Up, Super Star!. Octopath is just the best switch game, period, for me right now.
Eh Breath of the wild is my least fav game on switch right now. It just does not feel like a zelda game to me. I find myself not caring if I find hidden stuff because it just is a orb or a seed. The old zelda games I was all about finding new stuff. Upgrade power glove? Hearts? Stam? Finding stuff is more fun than doing shrines. So this game is the best rpg on switch to be honest.
Well i played only two zelda games. One of them (the first one) wasn't much about finding stuff, it was more about exploring, but for the sake of exploring; not GREAT items (and most of them are items you are going to find in a normal playthrough, because a normal playthrough required you to explore, no linearity). I'd rather say that (for what i've heard, don't have a switch, only an old NES) this new zelda seems to have the heart of the first Zelda on the nes. The other Zelda i played: A Link to the Past: is awesome, but this one is different from the original; you have missions to do, places you require to go before advancing: there is some sense of linearity, with the exploration as an option, not the game itself.
I dont even like JRPG’s and I can confirm the game is super sick. I got it around christmas but just the past weekend I finally got in the groove of it and now i’m HOOKED. Its addicting once you unlock a few characters

Of coarse octopath is my favorite switch game, no question. It’s hand down my favorite, and I only played the demo

Great to see Square back in the public eye with this one - really takes it back to their glory days, and it's completely well deserved
I'm playing a game called chaos ring 3 on my Samsung phone and square is the publisher. And its ana amazing mobile game with a great story.

Octopath is amazing.
The next time you are looking for another JRPG, however, I would recommend picking up Ys VIII instead of Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

and now think about it again that the word octopath has 8 letters
It also pertains to the "8 Paths" you can take. Hence, the name. (Better late than never)
"it's like they invented a whole new style and perfected it at thte same time" YES!! YES. soooo well put! Well made
My top 3 switch games rn
1:Botw
2:Octopath
3:Hollow knight
hollow knight is actually not a switch exclusive
I respect you
Strabby Crabby neither is hollow knight
I agree with this list completely
Yess yess
This is me. I feel this whole experience hard haha. This is keeping me alive until Fire Emblem for the Switch
The Bookish Babbler Glad to know I'm not the only one in this situation :D
You should play disgaea 5 it's a strategy RPG
I am in the same situation (when FE got delayed I almost broke my computer mouse). I have played Disgaea 5 and even though it is an.... intresting game, it did nothing to quench my Fire Emblem thirst.
Xenoblade is keeping me busy until Fire Emblem which hopefully will keep me busy until Shin Megami Tensei V
The Bookish Babbler me too! Im holding on for Fire Emblem!!
When I finally pick up a Switch, this will probably be the first game I pick up.
Any updates?
Same. Loved every single aspects of this game
did u get the game king
Get it for pc

At last, we get a good legit Octopath Traveler review.
Ryan B ikr like Stephanie wanna go shopping tonight
By good, you mean one that reaffirms your own bias
Joey Rodríguez you mean a reviewer that doesn’t say the game is just ok.
lol
Ophelia Fielding shouldn't a game be good and enjoyable at all parts of the game though. The problem with the game is that it takes so long just to pick up. That's why the game is just ok.
I have put over 180 hours into my save file, and let me tell you, every second was worth it. Bought it last year when it released, and finished it this year right before Three Houses dropped.
Screw Fire Emblem.
I thought I was the only one. I'm still several hours away from completion. I've been playing casually for almost 2 years now, and have over 110 hours of play time. I MUST finish it! Lol.
This game is soooooo good! It was worth the wait !
👍

I just wanna say that if it werent for me watching this review, I would've never gotten this amazing game and fallen in love with it. Thank you for sorta unintentionally introducing me to one of my favorite games of all time :)
You don’t have to keep shouting. It’s okay. It’s okay.
So it's been some time since I've watched your videos. But I noticed that you talk louder and yell a whoooooole lot more, lol
It's just because he's so excited about this game
Yeah it’s annoying. Just talk. We can hear. No need to yell
I’ve been watching since the Game Quest days, it’s just feels a lot different then I remember lol. Nothing against it though.

If Woody made a serious league of legends video and bashed it I wonder if people would take it seriously.
When I first saw Haánit, I first thought she was boring and very dull and I wouldn’t keep her in my party. BUT OH BOY WAS I WRONG! I literally have a deadly petting zoo in my grasp!!! Haánit is one of my favourite characters now~
Therion is my favorite along with Primrose.
Olberic or Cyrus are my favorite. I gotta say, H'aanit ended up being one of my least favorite.
Thank you so much for not yelling. I love it when videos are calmer; don't get me wrong, I love it when you are crazily excited too, but it is nice to be calm sometimes.
Just got it, started as Primrose. Loving the game so far.
She's mah faaaave.
Player Parker literally picked it up after work today and started as primrose wish I didn’t have to wake up at night 5am
Tayler Sommerfeld dam work getting in the way of gaming ☹️.
I've only played the demo as primrose and I want the game so bad!
Katrina Oreon never played the demo how much of Primrose story did it show?
Cyrus best boi!!! (And best glass cannon 😂)
Wood is cheating on BotW, everyone
DJ Dragon He can’t help but be allured to a better game.
I can only say one thing It's SQUARE ENIX
Maple Lover love it u anti-mink
its SQUARE *EPIX*
Square Enix has been the biggest let down this year so that doesn’t say much today
It's square enix being Squaresoft
I wouldn't bring square enix up. They let their Male staff get raped by women
*BLADE BECOMES UNBENDABLE*

Thank you for the review without major spoilers ! Amazing info mate.
PC release on June 7th. Can't wait!
Keep doing what you’re doing!
wait why’d you start watching him if you hate video games
TheKewlPerson I watched his video about his life and depression and stuff :)

This is my kind of game. It scatchs all my itches.
Yes it's amazing, really hope they keep this franchise going, the formula is amazing. Visuals, mechanics, story telling, music. I crave more content.
Good to know that there are multiple ways to complete side quests
Yeah, there's another side quest in Flamesgrace where an innocent man was put in Jail. You could either steal the key from the guard and free him, or you could Inquire the townsfolk and find a witness who can clear his name. The amount of detail put into this game is insane.
When you said "Bring it all the way down" my phone went into night mode and I thought, for a second, that you had some mystical power over my phone 🤯
Funny that just a couple of months ago people said that Switch doesnt have system seller after zelda and mario release, and then BOOM came this bad boy out of nowhere 😂
Its a good time to have a switch fellas
pradanakusuma it's only a timed exclusive, it'll be out on PlayStation
This isn't a system seller . Is a collector's item seller . This means people will buy the game for collecting increasing value . No many people would buy a new Switch just to play this game . But some people would be interested to buy the game to say they have good taste in collecting things . Or to resell . Or for retro / nostalgia collectors . Or speculators trying to see if their investing on this game will rise on price .
Liberty Prime False.
The background set pieces are STUNNING1 If this had been the art style for Bravely Default for the 3DS, that would have made it my all-time favorite RPG.
music : suer mario galaxy
art : ff6/bravely
plot: persona
You are gushing over this game the same way me and my best mate do, and we don't even have it yet! We have been excited since the announcement day and everything we have seen since only pushes us to wanting it even more! Sadly we are incredibly broke right now :P which disappointed my friend most of all because he was REALLY wanting the collector's edition.
The Collectors Edition is currently available on amazon as I'm commenting this, i'm about to pick up my copy and I am absolutely ecstatic for it.
Thank you Jacob! He will be incredibly excited to hear that!
For the love of Mario, I love your channel!
I couldn't stand the story of most of them, but loved the combat.
The look of this game is how I imagined a new Final Fantasy tactics amazing
Oh no. I can't watch the rest of this video...
*Starts flashback*
"I'm going to buy a switch." "don't know I don't have any games". "Let me get a demo. Oh this one looks fun."
*Downloads a 3 hour demo of octopath Traveller* *then plays the game addictively Non-Stop*
"Oh my gosh so unhealthy for me I'm so glad I don't have the full game need to make sure I don't watch anything else about this game or I might end up buying it"
*And took watching the rest of this video. Rushes down to GameStop and buy the full game.*
Good luck heard this been sold out in a lot of places
Same thing happened for me. All the standard copies were sold out but the special edition wasn’t, I don’t regret it though
Could always buy digital
What? You could actually purchase the Collector's Edition because it wasn't purchased? I'm shocked!
I found a standard copy at Best Buy. They had 5 or 6 on the shelf but I already have the game. I buy my games physical. Good luck though, it’s an amazing game imo.
One of the best JRPG I have played so far!!!
Tressa’s hunter hat is the best thing about this game. It’s so frickin’ adorable!! Pretty great game overall though.
I wish I had a switch to play octopath ( update : I finally bought it 250 bucks need to buy games tho )
I bet you have a $800 phone! Spend the money for what it's worth being spent!
DarthChrisB u is very wrong buddy its a 20 dollar phone
lol don't assume things my dude
Casey kasum I want Pokemon let's go
Animated trashcan Still don’t have a switch...
I think the thing that makes up for this is definitely the story and writing.
Stop it with this review. 😭😭😭 You make me want to really WANT a Switch. I can't even afford the game, let alone the console. 💔
This video made me subscribe to you.
Thank you so much for your passion, high energy and great videos. It's been a great couple years.
Tijjeroo Woopdidoo it is perfect... it’s my first JRPG as I mainly play western RPGs 😂
Ha i did the same with the collectors edition. I bought it normal , love it so much went and bought collectors and gave normal one to a friend. Therion is the best imo
Nice bro!!! Without an art book idk if I wanna get it tho. Also my original is digital lol
This damn game..........I thought I'd hate it, but holy good crap, it's addicting. I love it.
Why did you buy it if you thought you hate it?
@Daniel Voss, for that exact reason....
I agree. When looking for shrines or caves, I would have loved to zoom in more.
Not as many titles if you like western rpgs too. Botw is good tho
Playing it now. I'm back in love 💛with turn base games thanks to Octopath Traveler and Yakuza Like A Dragon.
Ok fr he needs to play octopath traveler 2 already lol
Who’s here 2 years later because this is on Game Pass now?! 🐲
I’m here because the 2nd part is on Game Pass now
@@Rocket7Thaha me too!! Good luck beating it!!
I did Tony and Mathilda’s side quest when I was around level 55, and unfortunately I was too strong for Tony to beat me. Thankfully, his mother is lurking nearby, so I figured out to allure her to talk to him and solved the side quest that way. How cool that there are multiple solutions!!
Hey, man. I'd seen lots of reviews, but it was yours that finally made me decide I had to play this game. Cheers!
The only thing this game (or it's sequel) needs, is some puzzles like Golden Sun!
People actually like puzzles? I usually like puzzles to be reserved for actual "puzzle" games. I always kind of wondered why so many games (of varying genres) utilize so many puzzles, so it's refreshing to know that people actually enjoy them.
golden sun was my favorite rpg game back in that time. does that mean I will like octopath as well?
Lucas Kattah not necessarily, it's mainly the art style of the fighting that reminds me of Golden Sun, but the story in Octopath is pretty neat so far, I'm only about 2 or 3 hours in
Steve Kealey I enjoy smaller puzzles that don't stump you. I'd prefer maze-like puzzles fo4 a game like this
Steve Kealey
It's usually used to provide some variety and break up the pace. It also helps get the brain pumping before the next fight. Puzzles were included in Mario & Rabbid's and I think it's better with the inclusion of it.
I saw someone online say the graphics are trash like bro do you know what pixel art is
Yours is fast becoming my favourite youtube channel
I'm so grateful i found your page. Your taste and opinions match mine so well plus your energy is awesome. It's making me consider getting into point and clicks lol. I've had my eye on octopath for awhile and it's why i got a switch (that and breath of the wild)
60-80 hours long, you say?
I've been playing it more than 60 hours already and I still didn't get to any 2nd chapter with any character
tbh, I didn't collect all the characters yet. I just travel and grind :D
Strabby Crabby longer it takes to complete a game. More rewarding it is to finish~
That’s what I think about it 😅
@@haydomo1069 I don't know how NOT to grind when I encounter monsters on my every step
I love grinding.
I feel like I would enjoy OctoPath Traveler more than Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
Gamer Addy 99 Xeno 2 never caught me because the fan service is just extremely cringe and the story doesn’t seem to appealing. This game is a lot of fun but that’s just me.
I own both games and I really would choose Octopath Traveler over Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
I own both and love both but xeno has my heart.
I did.
At least Octopath doesn't take 20 damn hours to get good.
Cause xeno 2 is trash
It’s my favorite Switch game at the moment. Not better than Zelda or Mario though. Also not as good as Xenoblade 2, but it’s pretty damn close
I fully agree that (a) it's my favorite Switch game to play right now, and (b) it's not better than Zelda or Mario.
But I do like it more than Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
I LOVE YOUR ENERGY! KEEP IT UP BECAUSE I INSTANTLY SUBSCRIBED!
Did i miss your review of Octopath traveler 2?

The mechanics, visuals, pixel art, soundtrack, story telling is BAR NONE! I crave more. Please square keep this formula going!!
first square enix experience?
I’ve watched this video TOO many times, I can’t wait to pickup the game, only been able to play through the demo so far, Thanks Wood!
I dont even like JRPG’s and I can confirm the game is super sick. I got it around christmas but just the past weekend I finally got in the groove of it and now i’m HOOKED. Its addicting once you unlock a few characters
Dude i feel the same way, im so excited about this game. Love your channel, greetings from México.
