I finished the Blue Lions route last night and it was an absolutely wonderful. Dimitri has become one of my favorite video game characters of all time. His arc was so well done and the ending cutscene was so beautiful.
I finished Blue Lions last night at 1:00am. That last cutscene was sad to me and yeah I really like Dimitri. I'm going to do his path again with F Byleth later so that I can marry him.

One small nitpick I had was that the monestary didnt change visually with the seasons, was really looking forward to seeing the grounds of the school all covered in snow, small gripe, games amazing, about 50 to 60 hours in and loving every second of it
the Real Rohagon I’m thinking that it had to do with the geographical location of the monastery. The temperature in the location might not allow for snow and because we grow everything in the greenhouse means that it might not be suitable for raising plants.
Agreed. Also, more varied Master classes would've been cool. It kinda sucks that if you want to use your sword skill, you kinda *have to* go for a Mortal Savant. Same for War Master if you have a Brawler type character etc. It would've been cool to have more of a varied combination of skills.
Same. I know that we are following a calendar, but I always forgot how long we had spent with them because I never saw any visual changes that naturally come with the seasons. They would say we’d been with them for six months and I didn’t believe them for a second😂
I feel that whatever house you picked 1st will be your favorite because all of the stories are really good, and the 1st will always give you nostalgia. That aside Blue Lions is best house.
I went Black Eagles first simply because I rolled a die. And, yeah, going through the other routes just leaves me with a feeling as if I betrayed those characters. This is the first game where I actually feel bad going through the other routes.

Played golden deer after blue lions because ngl I just don’t like Edelgard. I like her as a villain but working with her makes me scared that I’m going to kill everyone in the other houses
#TeamGoldenDeers all the way, well, at least so far. It's also my very first real Fire Emblem game, and I'm absolutely in love with it (I wished they'd let you pet the animals, though. 3 out of 10 for sure). I'm already looking forward to my other play throughs with the other houses.

I chose blue lions because Dimitri reminded me of Clive at first (lance wielder and blue armor) and it intrigued me that he had a dark, revenge crazy personality. His lines and voice acting when he was saying something scary would shock me. I am very much invested in his story. 💀
I have yet to go Blue Lions ( that’ll be my third play through and I’m still on my first soo ) but while Dimitri may look like Clive from the beginning of the game it’s abundantly clear from the trailers that he’s nothing like him at all

I ‘ve said this before, but i ‘ll say it again, this is my first FE game, and with what i ‘ve done so far, it’s been one of the best experiences i ‘ve had with gaming, fun gameplay, lots of content, and a great story, it’s easily my GoTY so far, and I wonder what games are gonna be able to compete against it. Also the Golden Deer house’s man goal is to take down the CEO of racism, which is why it’s the best house.
Yeah those are acclaimed games but I guess I should’ve clarified that when I say I wonder what games are gonna be able to compete against it I mean games i ‘m planning on playing and if they’ll change my GoTY pick.
@@isaac3000 FE Fates as a whole was terrible. I'll agree that Conquest had better maps. But Fates had a much worse story, one dimensional characters, generally worse combat other than Conquest maps, too much skinship crap, and it was paywalled like crazy
@Chris Nguyen You can be unique without being one dimensional. Oldschool FE characters from the pre Awakening era were unique but not one dimensional. I still remember Guy's headband, Hector's tankiness and axe, Marcus being the old vet, Joshua's weird Russian hat, etc. Except those characters had excellent development. Eliwood and Hector's growths during their storyline was awesome
Going into this I wasn’t leaning towards Blue Lions but I ended up picking them after meeting meeting the students. I’m excited to play through with the other two teams but so far I’m happy with my first choice.
I was initially with Claude’s house and loved him and everything that came with it; but I played the Blue Lion’s route. I am now Dimitri trash and I love that man to death.

67 hours in, finished golden deer and now in part two of the blue lions. Dimitri and the Blue lions story is amazing lol I loved Claude and the golden deer but dimitri going psycho at the end of the first part was amazing
You should absolutely play the Blue Lions route. I have played all 3 of the house leader routes (haven’t played church route yet) and Dimitri is just the most interesting character in the game, of course in my opinion. He’s not always the most happy fun time character (which is something I love Claude for, he’s just not as serious and doesn’t have as many heavy issues as the other 2 leaders) but dimitri’s journey is SO interesting. And the scene with him at the immediate beginning of part two is just heartbreaking. One of my favorite and most impactful moments in a game I’ve ever played.
Ikr. My first was with Claude and the scene at the beginning of pt 2 literally made me cry because, for some stupid reason, I didn’t know if he’d be back (plus I’m on some new meds, which make me more emotional) which triggered he realization that this is now my favorite game of all time… but when I got to the beginning of pt 2 with the BL, I was scared because of how defeated Dimi seemed and I didn’t know what he would do. It was the complete opposite of my reaction to Claude. I was just so sad. His whole story and arc has made him become my favorite character and I feel like I will love him forever. Ngl, I ended up marrying him in the end and I loved their scene and endcard. Anyway, thanks for reading the script for my TedTalk.💙

If she had told Dimitri and Claude what really was going on behind scenes (instead of just attacking them) her path would had been way easier and less bloody. Claude ends up agreeing with her in her path and, Dimitri would had if she had told him who truly was responsible for the Duscur tragedy.
Black Eagles was my first run. I'm now Golden Deer. Honestly very attached to Black Eagles and Edelgards motivation. Golden Deer is fine and all, it I do feel dirty not playing Black Eagles a 2nd time.

I picked black eagles as well after spending an entire hour reading the in-game descriptions of each character. This has to be the first RPG I've ever played with so much incentive to ng+ simply for the other routes.

@@TheBigJame_ Nah. Bad for new players because they will either have to ditch Edelgard and Hubert and be left with 6 of the 8 basic students or unlock the secret 4th path which isn't exactly meant to be experienced first.
I was actually going to skip getting this game because I've never really played any fire emblem games before except fire emblem warriors. But, your review has totally made me seriously rethink getting it at my next paycheck
If you decide not to get it right away, it'll always be there! I loved it, but getting it later for a sale isn't a bad idea since if you loved it like I did, you may want to pay for the DLC later which is just more money
I would never vouch for someone to consider Warriors as apart of the main FE line up. Not that it’s bad, it’s decent at most. But that’s like saying I’ll never play a Pokémon game because I didn’t like Pokémon Trozei or something, lol. They’re only spin offs. Anyways, hope you do consider getting the game - it completely went over my expectations, and I’m pretty dang addicted to it. Seriously, I need help.

the relationship and marriage system is from Fire Emblem Fates on 3DS but Persona 3 had a social link system where you can date too so you can say it's Persona 3 or 4 inspired but not 5. Persona 5 came after Fire Emblem Fates

I just finished the black eagles story. This game is great, it really captures the feeling of war in the second half. The characters are great and I love them all. Now I’m going to play the game again but with the other houses

I have never played an FE game, but I’m really considering getting this if I see it. Could someone explain the houses like do they personality traits like Hogwarts houses (I’m a Ravenclaw) or are they basically the same with different leaders and units???
Ian Irwin Houses are based on place of origin (what kingdom the character comes from), so no, not based on personality traits. Black eagles have a few more mages, Golden Deer have a few more archers, and Blue Lions have a few more lance users - but you can mold anyone the way you want or recruit others so it’s not big deal. You’ll probably find one of every kind of personality in each house!

That’s what I am going through right now and I chose Blue Lions for my first ever route. I care so much more for my Blue Lions that I feel guilty about not recruiting them (which I did in New Game + along with recruiting all I could from Black Eagles)
Stefan it really is. It’s Persona tactics. I just finished my NG+ of P5 and hopped right over to this game and all the social stuff felt so familiar. I love it so far.

I’ve already played the golden deer completely and picked Dimitris House on my second run. I LOVE the cute underdogs from the Golden Deer!! This path had my heart melting. I love it, that the story is different with which part you choose. And because of the story background I wanted to reserve the dark side for my last run 😱 There is a feature when you have one run complete: you can start a new game on your old save file, but you get benefits from that: support ranks; professor rank; weapon rank etc. This made the second run so much more comfortable and got to recruit my favorite Charakter so quickly. LYSITHIA IS JUST SOOOO POWERFUL! EDIT: at first I was a bit disappointed from the graphics that it looks like a drag and drop, BUT with the three paths and the whole game and every character getting his own voices there isn’t much left of space they could have had to make it look even more polished. So that’s totally fine to me. Nice trade of😂 unnecessary graphics for a huge story and depth

Went Golden Deer for the first play through and absolutely love that group, really interesting squad. Now I'm on Round 2 with Blue Lions and honestly they are really awesome as well, the post time skip stuff with them is doope

This is such a great game. I was gonna pick Black Eagles but I wanted to save that crazy route last. Went Blue Lions first loved their story, working on my Golden Deer route right now, and then end on the Black Eagle route.

I agree, compared to Robin and whatever Corrin was, I definitely gotta admit Byleth is SUPER boring... it’s kind of funny how all the characters praise you throughout the entire game despite how expressionless and quiet you are, lol. But it’s the game’s philosophy of making the player the main character by not giving the character a personality. It works for other silent protagonist games like Pokemon, but I don’t think it was carried over well in Fire Emblem.

I watched IGN's review for this game when it came out, saying to myself "damn it, this game looks so good but I will never be able to play to it since I already have a PS4 and don't want to have 2 consoles at once".Then I joined the Smash Bros eSports team at the college I go to and finally gave into buying a Switch, along with Three Houses. At this point, although I have not beaten the story yet, I am playing in the best house, BLACK EAGLES, and can say with confidence this is probable my favorite game of the year as well. Now I am going around and watching all the positive reviews to feel good about myself
It could be possible that the area in the Monastery doesn’t have a fall or winter season. I mean, for realistic climates, places like the Antarctic are forever cold, or how most of Southern California is hot. It’s due to the location, and we don’t know where the crater or any of that is in this universe.The Kingdom Of Fargus is known to be a place with cold weather, as implied by Dimitri, but maybe the Monastery is void of those seasons. That’s my theory, other than the creators being lazy.
Guessing eshop games videos are a bit slowed down this time of year, especially this year because we're getting into so many big name releases at this time

Just saw this video, and yeah, I agree with the overall score in general! In my case, a 8-8.5 for this game! And as my very first Switch game, it was a solid pick to kick off my Switch experience! Also, Team Black Eagles as well, and all of them were with me from start to finish - a hint as to which path I picked ;).

Playing this game after watching the good reviews is kinda like when Xenoblade 2 came out and you bought the game because of reviews but it ended up terrible. Only difference is, this game is actually as good as the reviews say it is
@@fightnight14 I loved Xenoblade 1 as much as I played it but sadly life got in the way and I couldn't finish it. I really wanted to like that game but it was so terrible. I honestly understood why people were excited (based on Xenoblade 1) but I just don't see how anyone could defend the final product
For a moment I was terrified when the video started but ofc fe3h is a perfect game, ofc it is. Gratz on getting the limited edition! Hella jealous because I live in the middle of nowhere and shipping costs me a leg, I just got the digital + expansion pass. I so want that artbook!! Great video as usual! God I laughed out loud at the part where Wood was talking about Byleth "In fact, this guy doesn't know ANYTHING" because that amused me while I played it too. I picked Golden Deer first as I'd thought from the moment I laid eyes on Claude, no regrets. And the class is so colorful, literally and figuratively, I love them! I love that there's just SO MUCH to do in this game, its so interesting I haven't been able to put it down in my spare times. And I truly agree that "They're not just some units I control, they're my students" because with the amount of interaction you have with them really makes you attached, even characters I thought I wouldn't care about, I do. I'm truly afraid to face off against the 2 students I failed to recruit pre-timeskip but I think only missing 2 when playing blind was still good. Supports are so much more than just random situations, they give you *information* on the characters which you won't know only from supporting them with Byleth, so I'm actually invested to see as many supports as I can between the many different characters. Also have to agree with the animals, THIS IS TORTURE. There's a bazillion of them and we get to do nothing with them. The way video ended gave me anxiety DON'T DO THAT WOOD!!
My first FE game as well and very quickly it became my GOTY 2019. Amazing game, I'm so happy I decided to pick it up while I waited for Borderlands 3. I put 60 hours into it in a week (it lined up perfectly with my summer vacation). BTW: Team Edelgard FTW.
8.5? This was 9.5/10 This was the best nintendo game hands down this year. And yes Black Eagle all the way more magic users for one. The music is very good too.

One small nitpick I had was that the monestary didnt change visually with the seasons, was really looking forward to seeing the grounds of the school all covered in snow, small gripe, games amazing, about 50 to 60 hours in and loving every second of it
the Real Rohagon I’m thinking that it had to do with the geographical location of the monastery. The temperature in the location might not allow for snow and because we grow everything in the greenhouse means that it might not be suitable for raising plants.

Same. I know that we are following a calendar, but I always forgot how long we had spent with them because I never saw any visual changes that naturally come with the seasons. They would say we’d been with them for six months and I didn’t believe them for a second😂

I went Black Eagles first simply because I rolled a die. And, yeah, going through the other routes just leaves me with a feeling as if I betrayed those characters. This is the first game where I actually feel bad going through the other routes.

I went Blue Lions first just because they seemed to be the least popular house and was so happy I did. They also have really interesting, different personalities and backstorys. Guess I'll be picking the black eagles for play through 2 since everyone holds them in so high regard.

Blue Lions was amazing. From what I've heard, it's the most well-written path too. I'm not sure though, I haven't completed all the paths for myself.

I chose blue lions because Dimitri reminded me of Clive at first (lance wielder and blue armor) and it intrigued me that he had a dark, revenge crazy personality. His lines and voice acting when he was saying something scary would shock me. I am very much invested in his story. 💀

I have yet to go Blue Lions ( that’ll be my third play through and I’m still on my first soo ) but while Dimitri may look like Clive from the beginning of the game it’s abundantly clear from the trailers that he’s nothing like him at all

I ‘ve said this before, but i ‘ll say it again, this is my first FE game, and with what i ‘ve done so far, it’s been one of the best experiences i ‘ve had with gaming, fun gameplay, lots of content, and a great story, it’s easily my GoTY so far, and I wonder what games are gonna be able to compete against it. @Chris Nguyen You can be unique without being one dimensional. Oldschool FE characters from the pre Awakening era were unique but not one dimensional. I still remember Guy's headband, Hector's tankiness and axe, Marcus being the old vet, Joshua's weird Russian hat, etc. Except those characters had excellent development. Eliwood and Hector's growths during their storyline was awesome

You should absolutely play the Blue Lions route. I have played all 3 of the house leader routes (haven’t played church route yet) and Dimitri is just the most interesting character in the game, of course in my opinion. He’s not always the most happy fun time character (which is something I love Claude for, he’s just not as serious and doesn’t have as many heavy issues as the other 2 leaders) but dimitri’s journey is SO interesting. And the scene with him at the immediate beginning of part two is just heartbreaking. One of my favorite and most impactful moments in a game I’ve ever played.

Ikr. My first was with Claude and the scene at the beginning of pt 2 literally made me cry because, for some stupid reason, I didn’t know if he’d be back (plus I’m on some new meds, which make me more emotional) which triggered he realization that this is now my favorite game of all time… but when I got to the beginning of pt 2 with the BL, I was scared because of how defeated Dimi seemed and I didn’t know what he would do. It was the complete opposite of my reaction to Claude. I was just so sad. His whole story and arc has made him become my favorite character and I feel like I will love him forever. Ngl, I ended up marrying him in the end and I loved their scene and endcard. Anyway, thanks for reading the script for my TedTalk.💙

If she had told Dimitri and Claude what really was going on behind scenes (instead of just attacking them) her path would had been way easier and less bloody. Claude ends up agreeing with her in her path and, Dimitri would had if she had told him who truly was responsible for the Duscur tragedy.

If you decide not to get it right away, it'll always be there! I loved it, but getting it later for a sale isn't a bad idea since if you loved it like I did, you may want to pay for the DLC later which is just more money

I would never vouch for someone to consider Warriors as apart of the main FE line up. Not that it’s bad, it’s decent at most. I can’t get enough of this game, it feels like playing one of those amazing JRPGS that was on GameCube/PS2 era, mixed with the polish of a game like Persona 5.
the relationship and marriage system is from Fire Emblem Fates on 3DS but Persona 3 had a social link system where you can date too so you can say it's Persona 3 or 4 inspired but not 5. Persona 5 came after Fire Emblem Fates

The best part about this game is that no matter what house someone picks, they seem to think it’s the best one. That’s how good each one is, and how attached you get to the one you choose.
I just finished the black eagles story. This game is great, it really captures the feeling of war in the second half. The characters are great and I love them all. Now I’m going to play the game again but with the other houses

I have never played an FE game, but I’m really considering getting this if I see it. Could someone explain the houses like do they personality traits like Hogwarts houses (I’m a Ravenclaw) or are they basically the same with different leaders and units???
Ian Irwin Houses are based on place of origin (what kingdom the character comes from), so no, not based on personality traits. Black eagles have a few more mages, Golden Deer have a few more archers, and Blue Lions have a few more lance users - but you can mold anyone the way you want or recruit others so it’s not big deal. You’ll probably find one of every kind of personality in each house!

I’ve already played the golden deer completely and picked Dimitris House on my second run.
I LOVE the cute underdogs from the Golden Deer!! This path had my heart melting. I love it, that the story is different with which part you choose. And because of the story background I wanted to reserve the dark side for my last run 😱
There is a feature when you have one run complete: you can start a new game on your old save file, but you get benefits from that: support ranks; professor rank; weapon rank etc. This made the second run so much more comfortable and got to recruit my favorite Charakter so quickly. LYSITHIA IS JUST SOOOO POWERFUL!
EDIT: at first I was a bit disappointed from the graphics that it looks like a drag and drop, BUT with the three paths and the whole game and every character getting his own voices there isn’t much left of space they could have had to make it look even more polished. So that’s totally fine to me. Nice trade of😂 unnecessary graphics for a huge story and depth

Went Golden Deer for the first play through and absolutely love that group, really interesting squad. Now I'm on Round 2 with Blue Lions and honestly they are really awesome as well, the post time skip stuff with them is doope

Just finished my first route, (Golden Deer btw) and this game has to be one of my favourite games, if not my favourite game of all time. So hyped to make my way through another play through

I agree, compared to Robin and whatever Corrin was, I definitely gotta admit Byleth is SUPER boring... it’s kind of funny how all the characters praise you throughout the entire game despite how expressionless and quiet you are, lol. But it’s the game’s philosophy of making the player the main character by not giving the character a personality. It works for other silent protagonist games like Pokemon, but I don’t think it was carried over well in Fire Emblem.
Byleth has tons of personality if you cant see that you need another playthrough.

You have to admit when he get's called out that he was considered the most feared mercenary because he showed no emotion it was pretty funny.

I went Blue Lions just for Pirate Dimitri, and I'm so glad I did.
I watched IGN's review for this game when it came out, saying to myself "damn it, this game looks so good but I will never be able to play to it since I already have a PS4 and don't want to have 2 consoles at once".Then I joined the Smash Bros eSports team at the college I go to and finally gave into buying a Switch, along with Three Houses. At this point, although I have not beaten the story yet, I am playing in the best house, BLACK EAGLES, and can say with confidence this is probable my favorite game of the year as well. Now I am going around and watching all the positive reviews to feel good about myself

It could be possible that the area in the Monastery doesn’t have a fall or winter season. I mean, for realistic climates, places like the Antarctic are forever cold, or how most of Southern California is hot. It’s due to the location, and we don’t know where the crater or any of that is in this universe.The Kingdom Of Fargus is known to be a place with cold weather, as implied by Dimitri, but maybe the Monastery is void of those seasons. That’s my theory, other than the creators being lazy.

@@flandersmanhandles776 I couldn't agree more, I suspect the eShop is gonna be shelved with all the Triple A titles hitting between now and November... Mario Maker 2, DQB2, Fire Emblem, Link's Awakening reboot, Luigi's Mansion 3, Pokemon, just to name a couple.
As a former patreon, I know that people who constantly ask for eshop videos stress him out endlessly. He enjoys videos like this much more.
Just saw this video, and yeah, I agree with the overall score in general! In my case, a 8-8.5 for this game! And as my very first Switch game, it was a solid pick to kick off my Switch experience! Also, Team Black Eagles as well, and all of them were with me from start to finish - a hint as to which path I picked ;).
Glad you liked it. Fire Emblem is one of my favorite series of all time, so the more people playing makes me happy. Also, I picked Golden Deer.

it is a great game, I am so jealous of you for those pins, I need to buy them somewhere, also it tooke 5 days to find the game, I checked amazon, I went to 22 different game stops, and when the 21st told me that they had it in another game stop 4 minutes away, I had to run to the car and drive at the speed limit to get it, all cause he said it was the last copy, I managed to get it, also I haven't watched the vid yet I paused at 0:59 seconds and thanks to the sftame it paused at I would now like to know who your dealer is.

Playing this game after watching the good reviews is kinda like when Xenoblade 2 came out and you bought the game because of reviews but it ended up terrible. Only difference is, this game is actually as good as the reviews say it is

@@fightnight14 I loved Xenoblade 1 as much as I played it but sadly life got in the way and I couldn't finish it. I really wanted to like that game but it was so terrible. I honestly understood why people were excited (based on Xenoblade 1) but I just don't see how anyone could defend the final product

I picked Golden Deer first as I'd thought from the moment I laid eyes on Claude, no regrets. And the class is so colorful, literally and figuratively, I love them!
I love that there's just SO MUCH to do in this game, its so interesting I haven't been able to put it down in my spare times. And I truly agree that "They're not just some units I control, they're my students" because with the amount of interaction you have with them really makes you attached, even characters I thought I wouldn't care about, I do. I'm truly afraid to face off against the 2 students I failed to recruit pre-timeskip but I think only missing 2 when playing blind was still good.
Supports are so much more than just random situations, they give you *information* on the characters which you won't know only from supporting them with Byleth, so I'm actually invested to see as many supports as I can between the many different characters.
Also have to agree with the animals, THIS IS TORTURE. There's a bazillion of them and we get to do nothing with them.
The way video ended gave me anxiety DON'T DO THAT WOOD!!

My first FE game as well and very quickly it became my GOTY 2019. Amazing game, I'm so happy I decided to pick it up while I waited for Borderlands 3. I put 60 hours into it in a week (it lined up perfectly with my summer vacation). BTW: Team Edelgard FTW.

8.5? This was 9.5/10 This was the best nintendo game hands down this year. And yes Black Eagle all the way more magic users for one. The music is very good too.
