I have had my high lift cross cut blades for about a month now, and all I can say is wow. I find myself emptying my bag more now, than ever. The cut is clean, I'm quite satisfied.

I went ahead and bought the blades from the link you posted above (EGO Select Cut Series High Lift Blade set @t ) and just got them in the mail today. So I immediately put them on to try and mowed for about 5 minutes. They definitely have more pull on the grass, no doubt. They suck up leaves no problem and I went over a few stragglers since my last mow this past weekend and they cut all of them. You can tell that they tax the motor a bit more but not enough to kick it into high gear just running with no load. I can tell that it will kick into high with less grass load now since the blade itself adds load. Which IMO is a good thing, talking about blade tip speed. I thought that before it took too much load for it to kick into high which hurt the cut quality (minimally as I think this mower cuts well out of the box with the aggressive blade). I tend to cut high using the 2nd to highest or highest setting. I have fescue in the south and if I don't cut high it will burn up. I noticed that on the old blades on the 3rd highest setting or lower it cut just fine with the old blade. It was when I went higher where you could really tell it would leave stragglers and parts of the grass uncut. That's where the cut quality suffered. This new blade definitely helps to cure that. Here's what I will say though. It's a big improvement but if you are expecting commercial honda type lift you need to temper your expectations. I've had mowers that will lift big twigs when set at 5 inches. This new blade will not do that, although it did pick up a very small twig with 3 or 4 leaves attached on the 2nd highest setting in my quick test. So if you're expecting a hoover then I'm sorry to say you might be disappointed. But if you are expecting adequate lift on higher height settings, which is what I really wanted and where the old blade was lacking, this is DEFINITELY worth the $40 you'll spend. I haven't mowed in tall grass yet so I can't really comment on the mulch ability however based on the above video I believe it will do just fine there given the results as well as the fact that we have the cross-cut blades. Very impressive. I may have to remove the mulching blade (I always bag) and install the high lift blade.
I'm doing a conversion from my single blade ego to the dual blade. I was on the fence between getting the high lift or the mulching blade. I was originally going to get the mulching blade since I almost always mulch, but the high lift blade seems to be a better, more uniform cut, and does pretty good with mulching. I'm going with the high blade. Thanks for the content

The High lift produces good suction but will leave larger pieces of mulch compared to the mulching blade
Using an impact driver I have found that I seldom have to secure the blade while loosening the bolt/nut. The impact action loosens them without rotating the blade.

@@TechMadeEzy I did! I just did a mulch at 4 last week, and a 3 bagging this week, both with high lift blade. Same results as you. I have KBG and 3 is as low as I go too.
It’s a better cut quality with high lift. The mulch is a little bigger and can clump in the deck more compared to gator blade. Very similar. I think high lift should be installed standard. I think they should make a new blade, a cross between the high lift and the gator, like the Toro Atomic. Thanks again for your efforts.

I’m in the same boat with my impact wrenching and would like parts numbers and availability of both the center blade bolt and washer and even the larger bolts and nuts that hold the blades together(I’d like my blade combo’s pre-built and ready to swap).
Love the videos! Was just switching to high lift blade and watched how you replaced them. My issue is when I put the screwdriver in to stop the blade from spinning with my impact drill or hand wrench the white disc spins and nothing will come loose. Have you seen this!?

Hi, thanks for your video. I may not have the same grass than you, I have very dense grass and the mulching dual blades does leaves mowhak lines. I believe that the grass is not enough lifted, the mower does not get enough air. Do you think those dual high lift blades will be better even if I mulch (they sell it for bagging). Thanks for your input!

Great video. I was wondering if you can tell me the nut sizes I'll need because in going to install the double blade system on my ego.. kinda hack... I heard you mention 9/16 or something. But I'm not sure what I'll need

Which one was what? How many do I need. I know there is a total of 3 bolts
I don't know about the hack so I won't be able to help you, also be careful you could void your warranty.
Yea it needs a high lift blade leaving a few stragglers when mulching. But the mower works great bought it for my daughter.
I wish you'd show tightening the bolts/nuts with a torque wrench to the proper torque values called out in the owner's manual. Otherwise, nice video.
I didn't even think of that. I should've read through the manual...off the top of your head do you recall the torque called for?
@@paula.2422 , yes. Center bolt is around 36-40 ft lbs. Blade holding bolts are 22 ft lbs.
Note that recent manuals for the 2135 and 2150 have the torque values swapped. Do not follow the manual if those values are swapped.

@@TechMadeEzy I actually have not purchased the mower yet! We are that new at this. But leaves are a big deal at our place. There are a lot of trees. So my purchase decision is going to be heavily based on the ability of the mower to mulch leaves.
Right now we are leaning heavily towards the newer EGO Select Cut XP, though we are also looking at the Ryobi Cross-Cut. I’ve seen on your videos that they have different blade choices.
I would recommend the Lm2156sp you get the mulching blade but if you are dealing with leaves I would recommend using the high lift blade it comes with and do some bagging. The 2156 has amazing suction power with the high lift blade.

@@seanrice7511 Toro is not very big here. I' have seen a gas Toro in a Bunnings store, but I've never seen them advertise and heard very little about them locally. I think the Toro name is already registered in other areas such as irrigation, which may hamper their introduction here.
Be careful when you are replacing the blade nuts. There are torque specs that should be adhered to.

Awesome.... ok I know that the battery of this mower can be use on the blower and the weed eater but how about the battery that comes with the blower and the weed eater? Can you use the weed eater battery and the blower battery on the mower? I ask because looks like this battery of the land mower is more power full or has more amps ! Please let me know. Thanks
Hi Angel yes 100% but keep in mind the more amp hours the longer your run time, 5ah will probably be a minimum but I say 7.5 is preferred. How big is your lawn?

Ditto. Be careful using an impact gun for tightening . They are super powerful and it wouldn’t take much to cause damage
Are you getting a lot of mulch stuck in your mulch plug area? I have a ton plugged up in there when I pull the plug out.

Freedom no officially, you could void any warranty you may have. I have seen unofficial videos online that show people how to do the dual blade. Or check for special pricing on the Lm2135sp or LM2130 or LM2130sp might get better pricing now that the LM2156sp and LM2150sp are out

Yes select cut mowers come with twin blades already, then you can change blade types like high lift etc.
@@TechMadeEzy sorry I didn't explain myself better. I don't have a select cut mower. I have a single blade mower.( LM2100SP) but she said I can put the 2 blades from the select cut on my mower. I think I will call Ego again and ask another representative to confirm. Goodluck with the channel.

What determines regular grass? The big thing with 2135 vs 2156 is a stronger motor and more torque, this can be useful for tough jobs. If you cut your grass often and keep it low then the 2135 would be fine.

I don't think so, pick up the high lift blade now that it's available that will help with your cut in some examples.
I had the first gen select cut last year. Decent mower but I didn’t care for the bagging on it. Got the XP model last month. Night and day difference. Love the XP mower. Great reviews.

Rarely but it seems that’s the nature of the design so I stopped complaining about it
This happens on 3 of the 3 egos I have owned.
Mine does too. When it does that just push the the mower slightly forward then it will unlock

I think it's just the way the motor works, always has. It bothered me in the beginning but now I just push forward a little and it disengages.
I would prefer not to have this but I've accepted it.
Should have compared the mulching blade to the high lift blade when mulching.
How much of the grass blade would you say you cut during this video?
It would also be interesting to see this blade used with the side discharge shoot attached. That way you can re-cut the mulched grass and it gets dispersed more so there isn't so much of it sitting on top. At least that's how I think it would work out. Anyway, awesome vid and thank you. I tried that rear side discharge just for the heck of it and still pretty messy, rear discharge isn’t worth it for me

Sorry Johnnycat, try looking for the ego official room under groups in Facebook. A lot of regular people like you and I, ego is in there as well and helps in many cases. Maybe they can make you more aware of some of their authorized dealers in Canada

Just watched lots of mower reviews, most American but can’t understand why you guys don’t cut your grass much shorter so it looks more like a billiard table. Anyway I’ve just bought the EGO with the steel deck rather than the plastic deck but first impressions after only one use are great, never going back to petrol.

Hi Nigel, short during the spring and fall is OK, not too too short but summer don't do it or you will burn and kill your lawn. Congrats on the new mower 👍🏻
It takes a lot of work to maintain a lawn at golf course putting green length. You need a special mower to keep it short. You need to mow it 3 times a week. You been to water it often.
Maybe that is doable on a lawn this small, but we are talking hours of daily work on a a yard with a bigger lawn. An some people do pay a yard service to do this … and who am I to complain if you want to spend $$$$ on keeping up with the neighbors. I’d rather invest mine.

Be careful using chrome-plated sockets with an impact. It can be dangerous. It probably won't happen with an impact driver like that, but I would still google why it's possibly an issue.

@@milanjurich1526 It's the HRR 216 Model with the GCV 160 Engine. Got it from Home Depot back in 2019 and it's already a dog - incredibly hard to start and the rear wheels continue to lock up all the time - after only 2 seasons of mowing. My EGO already destroys it!

The high lift blade is made for bagging.
Mulching is not good for your lawn - I don’t care what anyone says. There is not a residential mower available that “mulches” adequately for the grass to get broken down between mowings.
Very confusing when you say you cutting at 4. Just to make it clear, your cutting at setting 4 on the mower which is a HOC of 2.5 inches. Just refer to the height that your cutting at, it'll make it way less confusing , especially for some people who may not have an ego mower. Good videos otherwise , love my EGO mower.😎

These battery mowers aren't yet ready in my opinion vs gas. They still cut like crap, look at all the mulch left behind. Not powerful enough to mulch grass blades.
I have watched practically every video on the ego lawn mowers. Why do the ego owners 🙄 🤔 lol have the worst looking lawns!! Omg is it just me or does the old saying not hold true any more. The grass on the other side of fence is no longer greener?
Same here I noticed that too. I actually got an electric automower and push mower, both leaves patches of uncut grass. I'm about to give up on electric and go back to my John Deere 60d deck, when that thing spins it sound like a helicopter but it cuts beautifully. I doubt this Ego is any different, it's for those who just wants a cut, if you want a show lawn you have to go with gas.
