This is what I was listening to when I found out my grandma has passed away. I knew she was getting close and needed something comforting. And now, every time I listen, I can’t help but remember all of the wonderful times I had with my grandma, and for that, Mr. Gjeilo, I thank you. She will forever be with me.
Im literally sitting beside with my Grandma in hospice at the moment. This music seems to comfort her in her last days
When I heard this streaming on the radio I thought of a dear friend that had passed and although seemingly aeons apart we are still together at any given moment. Just a thought away.

😢 we just lost our wonderful little rescue dog…she was 18…the sadness was overwhelming me then I heard this and kept listening and listening and I’m finding peace, acceptance and a sweet melancholy. A thousand thanks for such a beautiful gift…

Love the way Ola often avoids the obvious harmonic resolutions but gives them infrequently, just at the right moment. Bach is master of the same.

There is something in his music that sets it apart from ordinary. It's simple but can create an atmosphere of calmness in solitude. I sense longing that is hard to find, it is only through this kind of music it manifest. Abstract expressionism at its purest.
It is the simplicity of it. So much meaning in so few notes.

Listening to your music is like I am left with a sweet and delicate nothing; I don't need to worry anymore. This album took from me all the heavyness of todays actualities such as covid-19 and so on.

Peaceful, soothing
As a lone soul I feel the pain in this work, not a bright pain. A gut wrenching pain, the sort of pain that plagues you for months, years. The sort of thing that nobody can bring you from, yet you still hold onto some piteous part inside of yourself that longs to find happiness, to find love and enjoy life. You get glimpses into this world but your own self cannot let you enjoy it. Rather it further ingrains the loneliness of this world, and leave you to wonder was it worth it at all.
"Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. God settles the solitary in a home; he leads out the prisoners to prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a parched land." Psalm 68:5-6 "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or familne, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, 'For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.' No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present or things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:35-39. "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him." John 14:23. He loves you. Call to him. He will answer. Then the longing in the music is fulfilled.
I agree with Junil C. It reminds me of the album by Richard Stoltzman, "Begin Sweet World" - Clarinet music that has this same sense of deep peace to it. Enjoying it!

It's nice to see the pianoforte played by the first part of its name, instead of pounding away relentlessly at its last two syllables. Like Chopin, I always tried to make my instrument (Steinway B) sing.

Comforting music
Always makes me smile
I wanna live in the sound of a river stream.
I'm picking up some Michael Nyman, Yann Tiersen, and George Winston sensibilities in this... pure, perfect, melancholic, pensive, and elegant, but simple. So gorgeous. I plan on having this in heavy rotation and also pick apart by ear 🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹. Thank you for unknowingly but beautifully gracing my 2020. Cheers to your amazingness 🥂

Ola Gjeilo. - Night (full album)
This piece of music sounds very similar to the Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi. His music is wonderfully tranquil too. This is the kind of music you can listen to while gardening or perhaps even reading. Absolutely lovely 😊 Heavenly but in a good way.

Gjeilo, you really are a genius! My choir sang "The Rose" and "Days of Beauty" with new arrangements, both adapting for mixed choir, with male and female voices and making spectacular videos! Write this in the search: you will surely like them!
