That looked like an enjoyable experience. The fragrance must’ve been fantastic. My Grandpa used to dig up the sassafras roots and taught us how to make tea with them which tasted and smelled like root beer. Great memory.
Neat. The endless variations in these things are amazing. Posted my own vid last week (only just seen yours) and mine looks the same from the thumbnail. Nope!
@@BecomeaWoodcraftingWizard You're very welcome! May you have many more smiling, beautiful days, strength, health, peace, of course, just like that for everyone! Good luck in all respects!
I've made one of these but I use some power tools especially for drilling. The only difference was I used some leather and some chain at the back of the angled board instead of making it stationary so you can adjust the height and angle of your working surface.
Nice work! Only handtools and raw wood, love it. Maybe i'll copy that. I think for me it would be a little bit too high. Working with 90 degree elbows is not my favourite. Thank you! Greetings Gerrit
@@BecomeaWoodcraftingWizard I would've never guessed. Seems like if it's not perfectly symmetrical, that over time it would develop a wobble, and start falling apart. I had the pleasure of finding a large sassafras and obtained a log big enough to build custom front door for my house. Too bad it's not more readily obtained, it works wonderfully.
It only has three legs because it's hard to find a spot where the ground is flat enough that all the legs on a four legged bench could reach the ground at once.

I love the smell and also make tea from the roots.
A magnificent work of art. Thanks for sharing this delightful video.
Nice work. Sassafrass, it's fun to say sassafrass..I made mine outta fir 15vrs ago.
Beautiful work! Beautiful bench. Rugged and will last for a couple lifetimes. Hand made, an heirloom
Great how simple tools can make a masterpiece with the right knowledge.
This is a great video
Thank you!
thanks for the lesson, great job :-)

Good Ol’ American ingenuity. Thanks and I subscribed. My late father left me all those same tools. Kudos

Seems like a lot of time, and effort, for something that looks like it wouldn't last long enough to make this a worthwhile project
I bet it lasts 30 years. There are some around that are well over a hundred.

I’m just curious about the log splitting, instead of having the timber pointing upwards to just make it a little easier?…….
It was a little to tall for me if I stood it up. Also heavy!
What wood is that, it looks very straight grained, Yet sounds hard
It sassafras. Rare to find it so large. This fairly soft and a pleasure to work.
perfect.
Great job , do you have a video on how you made your beetle ? Also what type of wood your beetle is made from ?
The beetle is from hickory, I'll make a video on that in the future. Had to take a hiatus from TH-cam for a while.
@@BecomeaWoodcraftingWizard that would be great i look forward to it .
What is the diametr of spiral drill?
1 and one half inch. That’s something like 30 mm
Sassafras, is it ?
Yes!
Great eye! Use it to examine the thumbnail.
Subscribed for your name alone, never mind the content!
That's great!

Does it smell like root beer?
Yes, it smelled amazing!
Super 😅

Интересный верстак, но почему у него всего три ноги.
It only has three legs because it's hard to find a spot where the ground is flat enough that all the legs on a four legged bench could reach the ground at once.
Three legs is more stable on uneven ground. 4 will always rock.
@@BecomeaWoodcraftingWizard может вы и правы, но мне кажется, что четыре ноги надёжней

Why are you using that wimpy mallet? Get a sledge hammer
The mallet was free and is as heavy as a sledge. It also does less damage to what I hit with it.
