Hi all! New video on the channel "TM ZHENATAN Woodworking"... How to make an apricot wood barrel with your own hands... Friends! I wish you good health and peaceful skies above your head. Like and subscribe to our channel!!! Enjoy watching!!!
My grandfather used to do a lot of woodworking, however he is in his 80's now, and no longer does any. He told me I can get some of his equipment. Maybe I'll also try making a barrel. Either way, a very nice video :)
I have great respect for people who can create something instead of "officials and politicians" who tend to only destroy and believe they can make regulations and thus ruin all states and people. This work in the video impressed me.
Nothing like a nice cozy garage to work in. Heat appears to be an option though. I don't know how cold it was in there but I'd be looking for the contents of that wee flask first.
Nicely done! In case anyone wants to know - the wooden plug on the side of the barrel is called a “bung”, so the hole it goes into is called the “bung hole”. Now you know!
Labor of love. It’s quite obvious he’s very content when making and building. I can tell because I am the exact same way. Take away my ability to create and I may as well be dead.
Another fantastic video as always! I love seeing these come together! What was the reason for routering out the center of these staves? To help with bending? And you wouldn't happen to have plans anywhere for those barrel stave router jigs would you? Being able to repeat tapering and shaping the staves the exact same way every time is brilliant! Thanks for making these videos!
Thank you very much!!! I cut the middle part of each barrel stave with a router to a depth of 3-4 mm to make bending them easier, because the staves are quite short...
Great work! Can someone explain to me (around 10:45) does he eyeball the radius with the compass and then confirm it going around the inside to a certain point?
Nicely done. I have some apricot wood that I used to make some plane bodies. It makes a wonderful fruity smell when you work it. Does this permeate the whiskey when you age it? Might be nice for various brandies?
Thank you very much!!! I age my homemade brandy in barrels made of apricot, cherry, pear, apple, mulberry, oak, ash, maple... Each wood gives the drinks its own unique aroma and taste...
One of these rollers is made in the shape of a small cone. With its help I crush the edge of a steel strip and get a conical hoop for a wooden barrel...
@@ruttur1072 You can try... But I think that making the hoop conical will not work... Therefore, I recommend that after rolling through the rollers, then still rivet one side of the steel strip with a hammer on an anvil...

The craftsman in the video has all of his fingers, but the 'rule of the missing thumb' is to never get your hands or fingers within 6" of a moving blade. Otherwise, excellent video.

That is absolutely awesome. I hate you... 😀 You wouldn't be willing to give out that stave template as a file, would you? Or at least the measurements? Perhaps the string & parabola measurements used to create the template? if that is how it was done... Heck, I'd be happy with head and middle outside diameters & # of staves..

@@tmzhenatanwoodworking7252 it is, and I found it amazing that you managed to assemble the barrel by yourself, I thought you would need help
Get that grandpa to work with you!
His equipment is worth its weight in gold! If he is willing to give it to-you take it gratefully and learn how to use it!
Terrific things made by men yes grandpa
waiting to see it filled with whiskey !
This is a pleasure and an education to watch. A real craftsman in action. Many thanks for the tutorial.

My granny has a quite similar barrel which my grandfather made for her 18th birthday in 1956.
