WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use TH-cams lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and TH-cam deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

I love how watch brands are gravitating towards VH31. It's an exceptional movement. I swapped out miyota 2035 from Addiesdive's quartz sub homage with VH31 as a mod project and couldn't have been happier. Satisfying to look at sweeping seconds hand whenever I take the watch out, without no need for winding.
Does 2035 hands fits V31 or should I get new hands for it??
@@chem9773 It fits. No need to buy extra unless you want to change it up. 1.2/0.7/0.17mm diameter (HH/MM/SS) iirc.
@@chem9773yes, they're a straight swap. The only thing you'll need to do is modify or 3d print a movement holder for the vh31.
I agree. I got an Charly Paris watch (the Concordia) which houses a VH31, too. I am totaly happy with this movement … and this watch 👍🏻

I've been waiting for a Murph 38 homage, so thanks for reviewing 👍. I think they have done a good job on the case and dial, but the hands are a deal breaker for me. They are too short and the colour and proportions are wrong ☹️ . Milfortic have just released a Murph, their hands are better, but the dial numerals aren't quite right. Why don't I buy the Hamilton? I'm not willing to pay that much for a watch with a movement I can't regulate or service.

What I can't understand is why the Chinese manufacturers don't put a VH31 in an SKX homage? They'd sell loads of em. 😊
Frustrating watch! It's good looking but: mineral crystal only. And it's about time they do something about their branding. I hate shiny faux croc straps anyway so I wouldn't bother with it.

"Cathedral Handset" is how I've heard these hand designs called most places.

Tip for "breaking in " a leather strap rub it with rubbing alcohol, leave to dry , cover with Vaseline (petroleum jelly) overnight and the wipe off.😎
The watch is great, but they need a proper logo.
NIW makes a 40 mm with the same movement and sapphire glass for the same price. but has other pointers

I have this in my wish list for consideration, and the one watch I allowed myself to purchase during the Black Friday sale was quite similar to it, but this one lost out to the new Rdunae RA03 homage of the MIL-W-3818B/GG-W-113 specification watches (most closely mimicking the Hamilton and Benrus manufactured ones), which I managed to score for all of 42 euros. Sadly it houses a much more common Miyota Super 2035 standard quartz movement instead of the Seiko VH31, and only has 50m WR. It looks the part, it looks right, and good, but we'll see how good it really is when it arrives. Maybe I'll look into swapping out the movements, but probably not.
But getting back to the 'Murph' style, as others have mentioned for only about $25 more you can grab a full-sterile dial NH35 powered ($50 more for a PT5000 movement) Tandorio with sapphire glass, claimed 200m WR, and no issues with the hands being so stumpy. Note that there seems to be two different hand variations on offer, one is more the classic 'cathedral' style, and the other is a seemingly longer so called 'snake' style that might actually manage to go too far the other direction and look TOO long. So with all those considerations, I'd almost certainly go with that offering over the Escapement Time.
Whatever one's preferences and choices, between the new offerings from Tandorio, Thorn, Rdunae, Escapement Time, and some others, we're spoiled for lovely, affordable, vintage military tool watch offerings this season!

Really like this one. Love the VH movements. But I can't have nonsensical branding staring back at me every time I look at my watch. There might as well be a big clown face printed on the dial.
My loss, I guess. But I'm ok with that.
I would love if they also made this in 40-41mm but i will prob buy this anyway. It really looks good.
Get it while it's cheap because once the word gets out the price doubles. Escapement Time came out with a Hamilton Mechanical with the VH31 quartz movement and it only took about two weeks to go from about $50 to $100+. And I can't blame them either, the Hamilton homage, both the one I mentioned and the one in this video, look fantastic. I'm just saying if you want one of these watches at this price it's probably best to jump on the deal now rather than later.
The doubled price is from resellers, ime. I've never seen Escapement Time change prices but when they run out of stock other stores charge far more. ET watches are a bargain at triple the price.
@@SingleTrackMined I didn't think about the resellers raising the prices which makes sense. Thanks for sharing that bit of insight and from what I saw of the Escapement Time Hamilton mechanical homage, I would agree with you, they are quite the bargain!
@@BosunM8James ET is one man. Closes his store, makes a bunch of watches, opens the store and sells them, then closes and makes more. It's more a boutique company than an Aliexpress brand even though that's where they are sold.

I still think Casio A1362 (~$35) or A2091 (~$45) or really any sub $50 Casio quartz is far better choice than those no-name aliexpress brands. At least Casio is proven to be durable and easy to repair if needed.

A question: I have a fairly thin wrist for a male, 16cm (about 6.3inches) perimeter, and I'm usually comfortable with 36-37mm casesize - typically the old style Seiko 5 (7s26 movement watches from the 80's and 90's). Should this watch fit for me?🤔
The hands are too short. Especially the hour hand... it's freaking hideous.
The previous Escapement Time you reviewed gave me tingles and I bought it right off the bat.
It shares a lot with this one. Black dial, mineral crystal, VH31, crappy strap. Also, seems to be, again, a Hamilton homage (I don't remember you mentioning it was a Hamilton homage)
I bloody love that watch.
This one doesn't give me the tingles so won't go for it.
I'm still wondering how much I should spend to replace the previous Escapement Time watch's strap. Is it ok to spend more on a watch strap than what the whole thing cost? I'm thinking a Vario strap.

@@ilikewatches I commented on this before and you may be correct in that it is a device issue. However, every other TH-cam video I watch on my desktop set-up has good audio levels (I'd say twice as loud as this one) and your older videos, before you changed to the fancy descktop mic, are good too? I don't mind cranking the volume up for good content though 👍

There's something wrong with the sound in your setup...this is the second or third video where everything sounds very low. Other channels sound fine so it isn't my hearing for sure.
Does anyone know if Seiko has (or will have) a day/date version of the VH31?
Mineral crystal and blue AR hue are deal breakers for me.
Coincidently I was looking at this watch today, it looks great in my opinion.
I don’t mind the mineral crystal, for literally decades watches only used acrylic crystals, mineral ones were consider luxury when they were introduced.
I also saw the movement is the SII version and not the TMI, I will have to buy one now.
What makes the SII version better?

To take two other VH31 examples, I reckon Berny (with their titanium field watch) and Addiesdive (with their ad2030 sand dial) are offering a similar level of value :)

The Lobinni model 17015. Moon phase watch. I just saw an advertisement for it and I have to say, my jaw dropped when I saw it. The dial is extremely impressive. It is using a beautiful miyota movement too. Please do check it out.
My Murph arrived yesterday delivered within 7 days from China and I agree it is a very nice watch especially after changing the strap for a more premium leather one. Now the downside; mine is keeping terrible time and has stopped at least 10 times since wearing it. I don't whether the battery is about give up the ghost, although it should have been installed from new, and risk replacing it or send it back for a refund. If I open the back to change the battery I assume I won't be refunded
With headphones I have your audio at max and it's OK. Switching to Jody's channel and he's way too loud at the same setting. Is there a TH-cam setting that's different for yours?

Looks ok, but strap will have to go, the crystal will need changing ( got a double domed with ar for my SNKX77 from Monsterwatches in Holland for €25) and it's quartz so not so cheap really.
I don’t think Escapement Time sells a bad watch. Although I personally would pay double for better specs. But I know not everyone can or wants to. Thanks as always.

Love what Escapement Time are doing. The VH31 is a uniquely marvellous movement and I think that this "Murph homage" is a good choice for ET - the Murph was unusual when it was released in the 2000s but the design was completely generic in the 40s. So the Murph itself was basically a homage to the past.
I have ET's King Seiko homage, which is nicely done for the price but the fully polished case doesn't look great - very uneven and smeary reflections.
So I reckon a basic brushed case should be easier for them to pull off.

Hey Gary I saw that Steeldive also have done a Proplof homage watch something you don't see homaged every day. Plus Steeldive typically have a decent reputation.
The worst part of the watch is definitely the strap, looks so plastic, unfortunately they just will start cracking before it soften to the wrist (true experience). As for the rest of the watch, an incredible watch for the price.

Could have been so much better with more harmonious colors on the front, like the Murph. I would have got one in that case. Choosing colors must be one of the easiest thing to implement in watch production?
I took a deal on a boderry titanium.This was a contender though but they didnt discount.
I got one of these with my order from the last sale. It's a nicely built, inexpensive, grab-and-go option, but nothing about it makes me say wow.
Finally, a great review of this amazing piece that looks pure class, classic design, grab and go and extremely affordable.
