    When first getting to know someone, it’s hard to distinguish ENFJs and INFJs since INFJs can come across as social and sometimes, ENFJs can come across more introverted

    This is was really interesting! ENFJs are sweethearts. Regarding what Vicky was saying about loud Americans, it's so true. I lived in Sydney, Australia for 13 months and when I first got there, I couldn't hear what people were saying because they all seemed to be soft spoken. Then after living there for a few weeks and being immersed, I started noticing that the Americans were SO LOUD! It made them come off arrogant, oblivious, and obnoxious. They didn't even realize how loud they sounded. I vowed to never speak loudly again. I have visited many countries and have friends from several others and apparently the whole world sees Americans this way. Americans who have not traveled much have no idea how they are viewed by the rest of the world. It's embarrassing once you see us from the perspective from around the world.

    As an INTJ, I must push back on the notion that the damaged version Maleficent is an INTJ. I agree that her child version seemed to be ENFJ though. But the INTJs I know, including myself, are VERY strong in their values and making the world a better place. All of us are very driven and consumed by doing good, improving the world or at least the community. There is no way that an INTJ would be intentionally cruel like Maleficent, even a damaged INTJ.
    Also, even if we were damaged, we are just not that people-focused. I think a damaged INTJ would more likely manifest as more of a cranky recluse, reverting back into herself and shunning the world in favor of focusing on her own projects, not bothering to get along with others or even interface with them at all. As a personal anecdote, my entire life I have fantasized about living alone in the wilderness. I used to dream of being Grizzly Adams or the boy from My Side of the Mountain. As an adult I have promised myself one day I will outfit a camper van and live in it in a state park or national forest so I can focus on my projects in complete seclusion and focus without fear of the Se tidal wave taking over.
    So, I think an unhealthy INTJ would more likely manifest as to reject and withdraw from all other people in a very bitter, resentful, misunderstood way, rather than engaging with them in any sort of manipulative or dramatic way as Maleficent does. Maleficent is extremely focused on and engaged with the other living beings. Her whole life is consumed by all the creatures and people. INTJs, whether damaged or not, are just not THAT into people (animals are a different story). Don't get me wrong, healthy INTJs LOVE their favorite humans to the end of the world, but taking it as far as engaging with the whole Kingdom of creatures, fairies, all the creatures of the forest, the King, etc., not gonna happen. That's a LOT of socializing! LOL Also, we are just not going to look back, revenge is not our thing. We're more likely to ghost than take revenge. I think Maleficent is still an ENFJ just a very tragically damaged, hurt ENFJ. It broke my heart that they took her wings.

    As an Infj I tend to hold space for people, and bring less extravted clarity to the group than an Enfj would. Although, I can come up with some uncomfortable ideas, I am more likely to keep them to myself. One thing I am learning via Ni is boundaries of privacy and navigating that.

    Ok, i have to say Something about this! I think this way every time people type characters in movies. First i have to preface with how MBTI practitioners always say that you can't just type someone based on behavior, but off of the functions themselves. Because many different types can adopt the same behaviors. So when talking about the characters and their types, say for instance the type was an ENFJ. ENFJs have introverted intuition, which is something going on inside the mind and not actually directly visible in Behavior. These characters in movies are actors. Likely what is going on in their minds is actually just that they need to follow the script and act according to what the director of the movie directed them to do. Meaning what's going on inside of their heads is actually just following the instructions. Them as an individual themselves outside the character they play in the movie may be having introverted intuition going on inside of their heads, but this is not going to be going to be defined by the action of the character. The character is only doing as the Director directed them to do. So for starters, I think typing characters in movies is all just fantasy, which is fine for having fun. But as a serious conversation trying to type characters I feel like one could actually type each character in many different ways just assuming how a character like that in real life may be getting to the conclusions of action that they are portraying in the movie.

    ENFJs need to have a job that serves the community like a community center director, homeless shelter director, retirement home director, nursing home director, domestic abuse shelter director, addiction center director, mental health center director, dean of a college or university, principal, psychiatrist, psychologist, minister, pastor, priest, doctor, nurse,, teacher, counselor, or social worker. By the way, Meghan, Leeann, Rebecca, Stephanie, and Vicky are definite female ENFJs.

  • @heatherbryant4197
    @heatherbryant4197 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    I found it very interesting that Stephanie, the only type 5 ENFJ here, had a very INTP-ish cadence, pausing to reflect when speaking, as well as a less (outwardly) emotive affect and sort of stoic presence. It might seem like it should be super obvious that a 5 would appear withdrawn and reflective, but I guess I've never seen a type 5 ENFJ before. Based on statistical correlation alone, I can't help but wonder if she had a leg up on Ti. I've seen type 5 ENTPs who originally mistyped as INTPs. I can't help but wonder how often she's thought an introvert or whether she ever mistyped herself.
    It trips me out sometimes how much I (think I) can relate to ENFJs... but I guess they're good at making people feel understood, kindred -- mirrored, if you will, and amplifying commonality with their Fe. Plus there's that intense Fe vs Ti struggle (what OP would call single-decider or people problems) coupled with being an intuitive (moreover, intuition tool with a sensory blind spot). Some traits, of course, (everything Se) I don't relate to at all. This video actually helped me realize something I've been noticing lately, that often when I recognize a similar energy or perspective in someone, it's coming from their enneagram type and not necessarily their cognitive functions. Stephanie, Rivkah, Denzel, and Meghan all stood out to me as relatable in different ways based on a common enneagram type (if my tritype typing is correct as 5w4 9w1 2w1... lately I've been toying with the idea of being a 5w? 4w5 1w2 but that's just a loose possibility).
    I really enjoy listening to ENFJs talk in a forum such as this, especially where we are brought together by common interest, but I think dominant Fe might feel a bit too overwhelming in person for me... especially out in "the wild." This is part of why I doubt Socionics intertype relations. I think I'm digressing too far in too many directions though, so I'm gonna wrap it up soon...if Ne will let me!
    BTW, for whatever it's worth, I think I have decent Si but I'm also terrible with names. (I made a conscious effort in this comment). But for me, in person, oftentimes that moment when a person extends their hand to shake mine (which I guess is a thing of the past now!), it's like my mind goes blank that very moment they say their name...like a split second of static over a broadcast. So strange. I think it's partly nerves during high-pressure social interactions (which I'd say includes first impressions) + some kind of involuntary detachment from "reality" from Se PoLR... so I imagine it's the same phenomenon for entirely different reasons. Once I actually _learn_ a name, I'll remember it and feel pretty confident in my memory. Problem is when there's no memory to retrieve in the first place because the initial encoding got scrambled into Webdings. It's probably an Fe+Se issue. I imagine for ENFJs it's more of an Si issue of retrieving that detail from memory (correct me if I'm wrong). I think many intuitives might not place such a high value priority on calling people by name because it's the meaning behind the words, not the words themselves, that really matter. Personally, when someone uses my name too often, my geiger counter for sycophancy starts chirping, so I try not to overdo attempts at ingratiating others towards me via name-usage. Of course, habits like these are likely heavily influenced by culture & family too. But to circle back to my original point, I think Si doesn't guarantee you'll remember names well. Si users tend to be very particular (or, subjective, lol) about what they recall, and can get so caught up in other details that they mix some details up, or reinforce an incorrect memory via repetition, or fall victim to misattribution or blocking. No doubt, in my experience, SJs are the biggest offenders when it comes to calling you the wrong name several times consecutively, as they go down a list of the names of everyone in your family. My SJ family members do this on a regular basis!

    • @k.t.5519
      @k.t.5519 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Heather, what you say about relating to ENFJs struck a chord. I too was surprised by how much I related to the discussion of Fe vs Ti although I'm not Fe dominant. I'm not 100% on my type but have considered INTP since reading Drenth who focuses more on the Ti / Fe tension than other descriptions I've read. One hesitation is I tend to think Ti doms sound so much more precise and articulate than I do, at least in writing. That's also an interesting point about enneagram and tritype and I also find I relate to 5 energy across MBTI types.
      Geiger counter for sycophancy! Love that, I feel the same!

    • @heatherbryant4197
      @heatherbryant4197 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@k.t.5519 Thanks! Glad it resonated with you. I'll admit I never got around to buying any of Drenth's books, but I've read some of his articles online and concepts credited to him by other INTPs I've spoken to sounded interesting and resonated as true. I think I know what you mean. INTPs do tend to be precise with language, especially in writing. There's a (perceived/felt) need to communicate ideas as accurately as possible, create logically defensible arguments, be realistic, avoid hyperbole (except when obvious usage of sarcasm or poetic license), etc. We want to establish definitions to make sure we're on the same page & perfectly understanding what is actually meant. Plus Ne is always gonna be considering alternative possibilities, exceptions, and synonyms, which can come across as ambiguous, wish-washy waffling to some, or failing to take a stance. Just as the Ti comes off as pedantically splitting hairs. But I think the extent to which that might be the case will vary depending on life experiences. The more people (do/have) relied on you for the truth, the deeper your sense of responsibility to tell the truth precisely might be. Knowing that people will believe almost anything you say without questioning, and knowing the damage that ignorance can cause, places the feeling of a huge burden on your shoulders-- the responsibility to do the research and choose your words carefully to ensure what you say is as close as possible to 100% accurate, because almost no one else is gonna bother to verify or fact-check or look for holes in your logic or play devil's advocate. We are good at noticing mistakes and inconsistencies, and the world hates us for it lol. Or at least for tactlessly pointing them out. The other, somewhat opposite, possibility is that if you've grown accustomed to being challenged and having to prove yourself, whether through speech & debate or people who are paranoid, argumentative, or defensive, you will probably have trained yourself over time to anticipate possible rebuttals and counter those before they are even raised. However, if you haven't had experiences like that in life, I could see an INTP being more sloppy with their wording. It's not until you suffer the embarrassment of being proven wrong, especially publicly, that you start to take it really seriously. And INTPs will secretly beat themselves up over both Ti and Fe mistakes, so the embarrassment will really get under their skin if they're an INTP. The third factor that comes to mind is how much your Fe has developed. You live & learn, and as you slowly develop emotional intelligence, you realize sometimes you have to suppress your inclinations and either let mistakes go or speak a little more loosely. I do think that female INTPs tend to feel more pressure to develop Fe due to normative cultural standards, but any number of other factors could theoretically cause an INTP to learn how to sacrifice Ti for the sake of Fe. As for being articulate, I think that's not necessarily always the case. Whatever you repeatedly do will determine your skillset with Si, so especially when it comes to actually uttering words out of your mouth, it's gonna take a lot of practice before you can convert the thoughts in your head to spoken words and have them come out right. Especially when you're nervous. But even with written words, we really need the practice, I think. The more you write, the better you will be at writing. Not sure if you can relate to any of this, but that's my perspective.
      As for your type, if you're sure you're on the Ti/Fe axis and not Fe dominant, you might consider INFJ. Or even ISFJ. Do you relate to Ne/Si more than Ni/Se? Or, I guess I should ask, do you value Se? Like, do you see any use in Se? Do you feel the need to get shit done and be productive? Are appearances important? What about physical skills/prowess? The thing about auxiliary Ne is that if you do have that, you might never feel 100% certain about your type. And if you're a 5, the 6-wing, whether your preferred wing or not, will likely add a bit (or a lot) of doubt and skepticism to your thought process. Sixes are famous for saying "it depends" because they're forever weighing different options/factors/alternatives in their minds. So they can also struggle to pin down their type. And actually 4s can be reluctant to comit to a type for different reasons. It's more like nothing seems to capture the nuance or uniqueness of their identity fully, and it always feels like something is missing. A 5 with a 4 wing is likely to be a better writer though, in my opinion. At least when it comes to poetic wordsmithing, creative or maybe even persuasive writing, and obscure word-choice. I could see a 6-heavy 5 being better at technical writing.
      Btw, on that note, I realize I switched pronouns back & forth several times in the first paragraph, going from "they" to "you" to "we," but hopefully it wasn't too confusing.

    • @jizerumon9391
      @jizerumon9391 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm also an ENFJ 5w6. It's a very much uncommon combination but every MBTI can have any of the 9 enneagram numbers and wings. It seems that we're quiet but in the inside we're analyzing the situation, our attention is focused on people reading the vibes or energies, and so on. It's not always like that, it happens more often when I'm surrounded by many other extraverts and I let them to have the spotlight, I don't care about that unless that, according to the situation, I feel the responsibility of being the master of ceremonies and entertain the group.
      I think that there are traits that we all have regardless our enneagram type. We get along with most people because we can accurately spot the boundaries, they feel secure next to use because they think we're reliable. We're good at giving counsel but so bad at applying it in our lives, and many other things that all the ENFJs in the video could relate each other.

    As an INFP I think I’ve adopted the behaviour of ‘emotionally pivoting’ and it’s a guilt thing for feeling like I know what I need, but I don’t get it from people, so I do this in the hopes that if I fill their cup they’ll fill mine. Otherwise I feel I’m too much/too intense and don’t want to lose people for not being ‘something’ enough. But I no longer feel comfortable receiving because the fear has grown past the goal - this may be my fearful avoidant attachment quirk though 🤷🏼‍♀️

    ENFJ here. I accept fashion to a certain extent. I don't really like when people are too extravagant , more so in environments that require sobriety. I also don't agree with dressing slutty. I think nowadays women dress showing too much skin and their body and then complain when men get the wrong message. So I am all about people being comfortable except when fashion seems to be driving humanity to individualism over the mood required for a place/moment or to drive them to hyper sexuality. I find that high Fi users go too far with expressing their individuality with clothes or tatoos to a point where they are not capable of not being distracting and out of place in certain environments that require sobriety. I am against that for sure.

      @@AntoinetteSarpong they're probably an introvert, and my assumption is that ENFJs are a bit too passionate about what they believe in and sometimes might force that on to others, especially less healthy enfjs

    Can someone tell Rivkah she is an ENFP or stuck in her INFP shadow? ENFJs are not into fashion. That is an ENFP, INFP, ESFP, and ISFP thing.

    ENFJs sound like they're filibustering, to me. Do they ever stop the monotone talking, or ask questions? It's like they're filling the air with words, to avoid any real vulnerability.
    I don't find myself to naturally reveal myself to an ENFJ because they never stop talking long enough.

    • @shahjmir
      @shahjmir 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      This was such a good point! I noticed that there was a lot of "filler" conversation said between points without any real personal input from their own experiences aside from Rivkah. A lot of the conversation was stating typical experiences ENFJs have rather than personal stories
      I am an ENFJ and it was frustrating to listen to at times! Because I love sharing my own personal experiences with others so I thought that was strange lol.
