Agree with the ammo econ and damage even compared to other exotic snipers. The free 3 ammo is golden it also lends itself to better spread among more diverse roles, taking on orange bars all the way up to bosses as you have the capability to both charge its and get ammo back which feels greatly rewarded.

The other thing to consider is that to do this massive dmg on still hunt it requires TWO exotics. Celestial and Still Hunt itself, so while it still may be busted, it isnt quite as busted as its being made out to be
Especially when you consider loadout swapping is not an intentional feature and will most likely be patched out/nerfed in some way. While the build has great boss dps it falls out a cliff for everything else. It’s the ultimate 1 trick pony
NGL I got still hunt and immediately vaulted it as a titan, 0 kills on that bad boy, maybe I'll have to pull it out but it's pretty depressing that one class doesn't have a weapon synergy 🙃
Aight, we know this will get nerfed sooner or later. Bungie has said MANY times they don't want any specials doing more damage than heavies. There's a couple ways it could go down. I'm betting that they will remove the ammo generation as well as nerfing the damage of the golden gun shots. Hell, they may even remove the interaction with Nighthawk, though I think they'll just reduce the damage.
I treat Still Hunt as Izanagi with its niche or straight up power creep, and power creep is fine. I think bungie wouldn’t nerf the numbers but instead bring things up to be close contenders of Still Hunt. But that wouldn’t be any soon.
I just hope they keep going with these weapons and give titans and warlocks their own synergy weapons. Remind me of the old class specific weapons like Tlaloc in d1
You can absolutely make it work for Titan, instead of hazardous with cloud I’ve been using this and apex. I haven’t put the two side by side but still hunt gets the job done of loading rockets for hazardous. Either that or I’ve been opting to do ghally/tractor duty and pairing that with double specials
I've never really understood why nighthawk both makes it deal more damage and be one shot, because like making do one shot, even if it does the same total damage is a huge benefit because then you can fire rockets and such when you would normally still be firing the sniper.
I like Still Hunt on Prismatic Hunter, but even as a Hunter, when I'm on Solar I like Whisper more for DPS. On solar, my issue w still hunt is that it takes up the Energy slot, and I like to keep Empyrean up on Solar using a solar primary/special addclear.
The thing as to the reason i dont use snipers: i don't like them in pve. More often then not they feel like a chore to use with little payoff personally. Why you might ask? Other special weapons, the drawbacks of a sniper: ads, aoe, single target damage, aimming, awkwardness of distance/general usage, ammo, flinch. Ads: to get the most benefit, and to usually hit crits you need to ads, as thats the only thing that allows you to see cross hairs and to hit crits. Aoe: just the drawback of it being a sniper, it's meant for single targets in most cases, ofc you can argue most special weapons are, however the fluidity other special weapons have i feel trumps snipers, usually in the form of handling, or acquiring target for Max damage/effectiveness. Aimming: The amount of effort feels like it is more compared to other types of special weapons with similar reward. Which is tied to it's intended role long range -- the things is most encounters or design space throw so much at you every second ur feels more practical to go with another weapon, unless of course you need the range, or distance for safety/other reasons, like time, mechanics, using precision where it makes sense, possibly flying enemies. In most cases tho i don't like sitting in the back trying to hit something while my teammates are progressing in the activity, and I shot a couple of shots which doesn't feel as rewarding, just more like it's support. Same with the ammo, most likely it's far away, so you have to go far to pick it up unless of course using another specialized weapon. And one of the biggest pain points with snipers, flinch, compared to almost every other weapons paired with the fact snippets have the highest multipler for headshot and vs body and missed shots it's just extremely punishing comparatively. All these factors also affects your loadout-decisions of your 2nd and 3rd weapon so you can be well balanced. In the sandbox the synergy just seems not geared towards snipers and the relative buffs/nerfs over the years also contribute to that factor as well. With all that said i still use snipers where in pve fun/ applicable, and in pvp. Because it's a satisfying feeling. Still about 90% of the time I don't use a sniper.
Brother this thing is getting buffed next week lol. So I’m pretty sure it ain’t being nerfed until episode two. Incendiary rounds, ignition damage increase, and snipers meditation will send this thing into the stratosphere.
What if we got a new melee weapon as a fist/gauntlet that could make stasis crystals on heavily slam and insta shatter like behemoth from zavala. Comparable to still hunt
This doesn’t tell the entire story tho, sure you can use base stillhunt but you dps goes way down due to it taking longer and nighthawk just doing more damage. Base still hunt isn’t that good when you put it through the full cycle, better off using cloud strike or something tbh
FYI, Cloudstrike Hazardous Crux does like 75% of what a still hunt rotation does and is your go-to if you're not a Hunter I don't get the outcry about all of this. Destiny is an MMO as its core, and that means that classes have upsides and downsides. Titans have unmatched add clear and survivability, Warlocks have the best support and CC while Hunters are the DPS specialists. Even with the combination blow build it's hard to survive in GMs while Titans spam down their consecrations and controed demo or spam hammers without a drop of blood on them and Warlocks freeze and heal everything. It's fine for the damage specialists to do the highest damage in a sltuation thats perfect for them. Reminder that Titans, who are survivability and add clear focused, still out-DPSed the damage specialist in melee situations for years, and can *still compete*. You shouldn't be upset that your class that can do better than hunters in every aspect that isn't damage cannot also do better damage. I'm also not biased as a Warlock main at heart that plays all three classes equally. I'm hopping on Hunter for damage carrying, I'm using my Titans in 3 fireteam size content or when survivability and frontlining is very important and I'm hopping on my Warlock when we need lots of heals and crowd control.

Imo still hunt is mid at best outside of raid encounters (in which its probably too good). Izi does the same thing except it can be primed so you don’t have to shoot and hit 6 regular sniper precision shots.

You realize you can use rockets and hgls with still hunt? One copy of solar holster and you can fire the celestial shot, get 5 more crits, swap to heavy dps for one holster proc, swap back and celestial again without reloading? Hunter dodge to reload and repeat.

Continuously nerfing every class through the floor and allowing this interaction on Hunter only - you can't tell me they didn't purposely keep Spirit of the Nighthawk out of the exotic class items just to spite everyone - is not equal treatment. Titans don't even HAVE a super they can use during DPS phases on ranged bosses aside from Twilight Arsenal - which is very difficult to actually hit on Witness(you have to aim at his head and time it so you can still dodge the attacks), and it does...1/4 of the damage of a single Celestial Goldie shot? Warlocks throw Nova Bomb and get just over half of - again - what a Hunter is able to achieve with a single Celestial Goldie? You cannot seriously tell me this isn't class favoritism. Remove the interaction with Nighthawk or give it to everyone. Hunters are literally just more ammo efficient on Witness too - they get to pop off the Still Hunt's full damage in one shot vs. three without Nighthawk. The game is not balanced right now. When Titans had HOIL spam, Bungie wasted no time putting that exotic through the floor. When Shadebinder was freezing people out of their supers, Bungie wasted zero minutes nerfing it after Beyond Light came out(literally the fastest subclass nerf in the West). You also can't convince me that this particular interaction with Nighthawk wasn't crafted so six Hunters have to run it in the raid instead of using 6x Star Eater Scales and just firing normal Goldie endlessly(which they nerfed - massively). The only thing that even comes close is Strand Locks running Euphony and running an extremely niche build to generate as many threadlings as possible to maximize the damage on that weapon. If I want to run the raid with my clan on multiple characters, we shouldn't be locked to needing a Hunter to spam this weapon during Witness.
