Not even sure how he can be in a competition when there’s no one on his level.
I think he came in second in that competition, which to me means it was rigged somehow. (Maybe family of a VIP or something like that)

I say yes, in the professional world. Unknown amateurs could be better you never know. Apparently somewhere is a guy who can sing 10 octaves, but he doesnt have the skill and fluidity that Dimash has.

It’s a roller coaster isn’t it? After I heard Dimash sing this song for the first time I was unable to listen to anything else, it’s all consuming...This is what this unicorn does. I first heard Dimash over 18 months ago, just flicking through videos on fb .... I heard one note of SOS and that was it... didn't know what he was singing but every hair on my body reacted . I cried ... I constantly listen to his songs and listen to feedbacks like this and smile when the reactions happen . Dimash is like nothing else...

Guys, I want to add to what people have already written, the following information: Dimash sang a duet with Chinese opera singer Li Yugang song in Chinese, in which he showed the note B0. And immediately after this song they performed the aliens from the movie "The Fifth Element" and Dimash showed the note D8. In fact, the range of Dimash's voice is from deep bass to the highest soprano.
Dimash really has a higher musical education in classical vocals and modern singing, and plays six musical instruments. Indeed, he started singing at the age of five, and his parents are opera singers. He has a huge number of fans, whom he calls "Dear", he speaks English, Mandarin Chinese, Russian quite fluently. Dimash loves his family very much and they also love him. He is a very kind and honest person, often does things that people do not expect - just out of kindness. The most revealing: during the "Best in the World" contest, when he learned that he would have to compete with young singers in the final selection, he simply refused to participate - he said that he should give children the opportunity to take the first step in their careers.

After being a Dear for four years, my first thought is that he looks so young here. He was only 22. He's almost 27 now, and believe it or not his vocals have gotten even better. He continues to study to this day. The first time most of us heard him do this was on Singer, a Chinese singing competition for professional singers. I prefer that version because it was a more intimate venue, the performance was heartbreaking, people were crying in the audience, and because we watched ALL of China fall in love with this young man after only one song. Kazakh language courses filled up, every TV program in China wanted him as a guest, and every time he performed in Kazakhstan, the audience was half full of Chinese fans who flew over just to see him. It was like the early years of Beatlemania. In the 4+ years since, he has never once let us down. I can't wait for you to get to Ogni Pietra, but you can react to anything he does. They're all too astonishing for words. I subscribed immediately. It was great to hear a fun and knowledgeable reaction. His register changes really ARE kinda hard to believe, aren't they? Dimash is moving to the US later this year for his Doctorate studies in Musicology and of course to become more well known in the West. He had a sell out debut concert at the Barclay Centre New York in December 2019 which was a great success (all his full concerts are on TH-cam, which are absolutely amazing)! The song you just listened to was in 2018, you should hear how much he’s improved now! He sang this song at the US Presidential inauguration in January. It’s probably 10 times better than this performance, if you can believe that! He is THE greatest vocalist of ALL time. You have probably seen about 5% of what he can do up to now! He sings in all genres and every performance will amaze and surprise you! He’s also a great composer and arranger! A multi instrumentalist (7 instruments) and he’s excellent at playing all of them! When he was very young , kids made fun of him because he sang very high and they associated him with a girl. He worked very hard to improve his lower register and what those bullies did was only to make Dimash angry and he developed his lower register like no other ! one woman who went to one of DImash's concerts said that the whole stadium was shocked at the power of his voice and likened it to a religious experience. OKAY, first off, you nice folks have just scratched the surface of Dimash. All songs he sings are totally different than any other song he has sung. When you get around to doing "OPERA 2", make sure you pick the one that says "not knowing his father" and then watch all the way to the end, do not cut it short!! In the end, when he sees his father it is "PRICELESS"!! Now Dimash has an excellent female counterpart!! Her name is "SO HYANG" and she is from Korea. She and Dimash are true "EARTH ANGELS"!! Some info on So Hyang, she now is 43 years old and when she was 20 21 years old she had ovarian and uterine cancer and survived!! Bad needles in South Korea she got Hepatitis B, so she has bouts of pneumonia. She is a devout Christian. She only sings for the heart, soul, and comfort of the people. She does not sing for money or fame. SONY has tried to sign her for over 15 years. She had it when she sang "YOU RAISED ME UP," Dr. said no high notes!! Yeah, OKAY!!! What do I think about how he is changing things up? He's a Mozart. Not a one-in-a-lifetime, but a singular unrepeatable talent. It's imcomprehensible and nothing will be the same again. Watch him working with young singers.... they are all over this and trying to figure it out. Ten years on nothing will be the same, but he'll not only be the first, but probably the best for a long time to come. Maybe always. Everything came together right for Dimash. Born into a performing family, he's literally been on stage his whole life and it shows in his top-notch performance skills. Mom sings opera, dad is a pop singer. Family friends were all artists, and that's the stew that he grew up in. Dimash's piano teacher realized he had perfect pitch at age 5, and voice lessons were immediately add. Being a performer is all he ever dreamed of: when his peers were drawing pictures of cars and houses, he was drawing musical instruments and himself on stage. He won his first competition at age 6 in piano. He has multiple college degrees in music; classical &contemporary voice, and composition.. He's currently working on his PhD in composition. He still works with a teacher and practices 3 hours every day. His drive, dedication and artistry combine with that amazing voice to really create something new. I'm 70, and I've never seen anything close.

He's 26 now and sings since was 5, academically well trained in classical and contemporaneous music and reach perfectly (perfect pitch) from bass, baritone, tenor, counter tenor till all the sopranos voices...
He plays piano, plus 5 instruments, composes, writes and produces. He performs more them 150 different songs in his historical. His fans are known has Dears and you'll read some of them, just ask.

👉 This is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears. (This is what Dimash calls us fans.) This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
In 2017 Dimash received a wild-card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant of all time (22 years) and the first non-Chinese. Only professional, award-winning singers take part. Nobody knew or hear Dimash before and he also had to start first... and after this song Dimash captured the hearts of millions of viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood at his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds, over 4 months. The jury consists of 500 spectators. With up to 1 billion people see this tv-program, that's generated international interest. The performances were uploaded to TH-cam... and so, we became Dimash’s Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned that Dimash would survive two episodes of the competition and go home again. They didn't really believe in him. Dimash lost his voice the day before he was about to perform "Daybreak" on the Chinese show "The Singer." However he still managed to get through the song, but apparently lost his voice again shortly after his performance. His Bastau concert version of "Daybreak" is much better as his voice was back to normal. 😃🏴👍

He does not deceive for long in front of a singing professional. there are many singers who sing better than him. His public does not know them. Good for him

Dimash is from Aktobe, Kazakhstan. He is everything....bass, baritone, tenor, counter tenor PLUS all sopranos. Not only he can do all these......he is powerful and fully supported in all areas too.....which puts him in different level altogether because it is extremely rare.
That's what makes him extra ordinary..I mean who hits a d8 and then add vibrato..most people struggle to maintain a whistle note on a linear scale never mind having to riff with it
