Fun facts, he can sing in 12 languages and play seven instruments, and even won a national piano contest. He is also 6'3" and a model, having been on the cover of many magazines including Men's Health, Lifestyle, Fashion, Elle, and was featured in Cosmopolitan. Oh, and he has perfect pitch. I'm sure I'm forgetting things.

He is not the composer of this song, but he rearranges it and revives it for a new life. You just bought a one-way ticket for the biggest vocal roller coaster ride in your life. Dimash is like a bullet with a shifted center. He enters through the ears and eyes, passes through the brain, pierce the heart and stuck into the soul. You even can't imagine what is capable to do Dimash with his voice. He is simple the greatest. The one and only on the planet. If you continue to react to him, you will soon become convinced of it. He is making some pretty 'extreme' music and breaking мusic impossibility and all rules with his unbelievable vocal techniques and his 6 octaves. His ability to mixes pop, rock, opera, rap, hip hop and r&b music, in his own unique way makes him a favorite singer to fans of any style of music. Dimash is a God of EXTREME VOCALS. He sings whatever he wants and the way he wants to. And he always slays. You will be blown away by the other his performances.
Side note, Dimash is also a song writer. (You are right, this is not the original SOS, that's from the 80's.)

@Valya Todorova, perfectly said! He never fails to capture my heart and soul, I’ve been a Dear since the I am Singer in 2017 and haven’t been a day without listening to since! He’s the best in the world in my opinion(along with millions of others) I love watching people react to Dimash who’ve never heard him before, although it’s hard to believe there’s anyone who hasn’t listened to him, I realize there are still plenty. #dimash #dears

You know what's amazing about this guy?
He pushed his way through fame, with that style , no one else would have been able to do this. the choice of songs he do, are peculiar and MANY MANY people don't like this kind of songs/music.
But he didn't give a crap, he is so good, that even though you don't like this genre of music you will listen to it just because its him singing..
I pretty much spend 3 days in bed listening and watching and crying my eyes out when I first heard Dimash. It was cathartic. My frozen heart opened.

Welcome to the magic world of Dimash! He is was born in a family of professional singers and is indeed classically trained. He has been obsessed with singing since a very young age, so you are correct that behind this performance, there are thousands of hours of practice and experience, despite him being only 24 years old in this video. Dimash was offered a position at the Kazakh opera house, but he denied the position to go on his own way and lucky us, he did!!
Many requests will probably flood the comments, but to me, the absolute must-see apart from SOS are "Sinful Passion" from Sochi and "Ogni Pietra" from his Arnau concert.

His ability to sing any style of music (including Ukrainian Folk & Chinese Opera) to top professional standards is unparalleled. His vocal range (6+ octaves) his vocal flexibility (being able to sing ethnic music) is frankly incredible. As one professional voice coach said, "There are many great singers in the world all with different qualities. But Dimash is the only singer I've ever heard who has Everything." There are several Opera Singers/Coaches who are going through his catalogue of videos and reacting to them. Mainly because every performance he gives is completely different. He will surprise and shock you every time you watch him. He is already a Megastar in Russia and China, it's only a matter of time before the same happens in the West. 😊🏴👍

Just for info, Dimash has a Vocal Range A2 - D8 (yes, D8 - Dimash has left the Piano)! Some say he can sing 6 Octaves and others say 7 Octaves. In one of his new songs (Your Love), you'll hear him go from an F2 to F6 (4 Octaves). The Journey you are about to take will be one of the best in your professional career and I have seen many vocal coaches that just can't get enough of Dimash. He is not only the best singer, he is a very humble man and truly the pride and joy of the entire world.

Katriinka, I've watched your Dimash SOS reaction before and maybe I commented. But I've returned to view it again, and your reaction and comments almost brought me to tears. Such an honesty and generosity in your assessment of Dimash. The world is so troubled, but when I listen to your comments and Dimash signing my faith in humanity is renewed. I don't know what is more beautiful, Dimash's voice or your heart. Thank you for brightening my day.
The way you go about trying to or attempting to analise the Dimash's performance and his voical abilities intrigues me and I find it really of much value. Much of the things you mention I rarely hear from other vocal coaches. Yours seem to be more or much closer to the truth. I like that you use the "fluctuate", which hits home because, as you alluded to, he essentially keeps the standard of his performance at a that high level throughout. He does not waver or get laxed anywhere. His focus is virtually 100% in what he is engaged in.

When I was about to enter the NY library I saw Dimash's parents who were also entering, Dimash's younger brother was our translator ... that was a nice meeting..I had some photos with them ....❤

I've lost count of how many times I have listened to this exquisite performance. And many of his others....
This is actually a song from a French rock opera from 1978, this is Dimash's version which he calls Neo-Classical his definition of his style. Take a look at how far his mic is when he hits those sky high notes, that's some power to contrast that achingly vunerable breathy notes. Katrinka, you hit a homerun by being introduced to the Mozart of our generation. Dimash chooses his music carefully. Many of the songs have backstories as you will discover he takes his hard work and gifts (he has admitted he has extra long vocal cords even though he is 6'3" tall. The CCP agents are currently on the watch given the pandemic they accidentally let loose (optimistic?) and the 2020 Singer competition going on so you have to pause the video regularly as you did here Dimash does not trust the US to try and tell him what to do therefore he is ignored by our music media for the most part, especially after he went on 2019 The World's Best and he withdrew after being the prohibitive favorite after 3 rounds when he discovered the producers lied to him. He turned down millions in prizes and endorsements because he does not sing for fame or glory except in his own words "to glorify God" per his own statements (I am not trying to push religion); thus he produces all his music and only trusts a few. I recommend if you review Opera 2 you either mirror it (not hard, just google if you don't know how) or play it black and white. The Gloria Wu Channel has all the back stories of his music. Be sure to watch them with subtitles also.

Anything he does with Igor Krutoy is automatically gold!!!! They are setting standards right now that will probably never be matched!!!
Lisa Roberts I actually have watched dozens of interviews of him (out of work for first time in life) and he has stated in response to why he hasn’t done much in the US he wants total production control and that is not likely to happen in the US. He won’t even let them tell him what to wear and that is his words. He recently stated he is looking at doing an internship in Los Angeles for his upper graduate degree. And the producers of The Worlds Best did lie to him. He told them up front he would not compete against children and then the show tried to spin it to make it look soft that his culture precluded him upon his discovery when they knew it up front. Daniyela surprised him when she told him she was competing against him in that round. I am a dear to nth degree but I call it carefully. His latest We Are One is terrific and important but Dimash’s Chinese team made it in such a way to try and make China look better than a politically savvy genius musician would like edit in such a way if he knew how China has acted regarding transparency of the CCP virus aka Covid-19. If you google articles on Dimash even last year there were expressed worries China would use Dimash as a propaganda tool. I am pulling for him to come to USA and conquer and not have to rely on China who pays him top dollar. Context is important. Don’t believe a lot of spin you read. I thought this out carefully and stand by my statements unless someone points out evidence otherwise. And thanks to Dimash for making isolation much more tolerable.

Dear Katriinka: Welcome to the world of Dimash. I truly hope that you will review and analyze many more of this "once in a generation" vocalist's performances. Incidentally, his repertoire includes many songs sung in Russian, Mandarin, as well as his native Kazakh. Throughout Asia, this young man is a Star of the highest order. His fans number in the millions and because of TH-cam are spread throughout the Globe.
With every version I’ve seen, my favorite is still the first I saw: his performance on China’s Singer (2017).
I still love watching others see Dimash for the first time.
So very awesome! A great reaction and do not feel alone on that last little bit, because I think I speak for most of us that we can just watch it over and over because it is just so crazy. A fairly recent one he did, which you may like is "Your Love." He does it so brilliantly and as always makes singing look like it is so easy. Dimash did not create the song SOS. The original singer /writer was Daniel Balavoine. Dimash did however write and sing Unforgettable Day and Screaming and I believe some others as well. Unforgettable day I think he wrote when he was still a teen.

I just found out today that Dimash's released ON HIS Channel, a new video mix of his new song ''WE ARE ONE' - the previous release was done by the production company in China (whose PEOPLE he loves) in support and love of all peoples during this virus crisis and the helpers, those who suffer, and those who are isolated... a little China oriented, but well done(the video part I mean) - Dimash is excellent of course... - HIS mix is much more whole Earth orientated and much more personal loving eye contact - It's lovely... Another extraordinary artist is a young girl, (I'm 70 yrs old, so everyone is young :) ) Please read up on her back story if you can find it - well... here it is in short... abused and abandoned by her disturbed mother, 3 yrs old? - didn't talk til about 4? yrs old then in the orphanage it was recommended that she take singing lessons to help her speech - which she was having some difficulties. Later adopted by one of her carers... entered some singing competitions - the one I'll link was on a 'The Voice' type show for kids without parental care called 'Super Kids' - she won two seasons. In this video she is 14 (she is 16 now, coming up to 17.).. This is not going to be difficult to beat, it's going to be IMPOSSIBLE! Because there just isn't anyone out there, in my opinion, that's better than Dimash, or even equal. You started with arguably the best vocalist in the world at this time so you might as well just keep reacting to him as he has a huge selection of songs and performances to choose from.
