    I’m 100% confident that you can pull off the loafer look. Very nice looking shoe - great color! Enjoy and best regards.

    Great video, Dale. Thanks for the insight. I have a low volume foot so I might just try 9.5D (half size up from diesel and Ottawa ) and see how it goes!

    Those are going to look fantastic with more and more wear, along with forming to your foot. I hope you post more about them as you have a chance to break them in and to just wear them.

    Just got my first pair and I though they ran wide rather than narrow. The 10D had me thinking I maybe needed a 9.5D! But still, supremely comfortable compared to every other loafer I've worn.

    Hope to see these worn in. I have a pair of Florsheim in burgundy that are super worn and the leather is so supple and comfortable, my favorite “kick in and go” loafers. I have the GS travelers in blue suede, and they are cool. Very comfortable, very high quality. Loafers are an ivy league look from the ‘80s and either you love it or you don’t, and I am in the love it category. I am a boot guy 90% of the time, but to kick on some shoes, loafers are it. No socks for the win. I also don’t wear shorts. Ever.

    The older I get, the more I’m attracted to loafers, chelsea’s and western boots. In other words, less tying, more slipping on. Haha. I just purchased the GS loafer in storm kudu. I could see myself getting a variety of colors in their loafer line.

    Would you say the pain in your instep is minimal? Would like to take these to Italy but not sure if 8 miles a day is too much for my feet to handle lol

    • @DalesLeatherworks

      Yes the pain in my instep is already gone and I’m on day 2 of wearing them. Just make sure they’re broken in before your trip!!!

    I’m retired at 70 and definitely a boot guy. I worn loafers when I worked and had to wear slacks and ties, but now I enjoy jeans and the security of feeling leather wrapped around my ankles. I live in an ag-based community and don’t see myself going down the loafer rabbit hole because they seem to exude a certain sophistication that is neither me anymore nor compatible with the cowboy/agricultural culture I live in. My brother-in-law in Southern California wears loafers all the time, but he hangs with physicians and folks in Mission Viejo. Can you see the difference? Thanks for your videos!

    • @DalesLeatherworks
      @DalesLeatherworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You sir hit the nail on the head!! I think that’s what I love about boots too, the security of it. I feel “locked in” and ready for any situation in boots; work, hiking, climbing, whatever! It’s the universality of them that keeps me buying them and wearing them confidently. The loafers to me require stepping out of my comfort zone to a certain degree but they are growing on me. Thanks as always for your insights my friend!!!

  • @chemboy63

    I agree brother - don't have the loafers, but I have three pairs of GS boots. Compared to my Thursday (to be expected) and my Whites (not necessarily to be expected) the quality is SPOT ON, and the stitching is obviously better than the Whites, which cost WAY more.

    I felt exactly the same way about wishing I could "pull off" loafers. Got my first pair ever, by Meermin, and I've been wearing them constantly and have honestly grown pretty comfortable with how they look on me, especially when dressed up more than down. I bet other people will look at YOU wearing these and wish they could pull off loafers!

    • @DalesLeatherworks
      @DalesLeatherworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      man thanks so much for your kind words!!! yes the loafer is something I deliberately overlooked for a long time. now that I've worn them pretty hard for a few months I can say I'm now deciding when to buy my next pair, definitely in suede!!!

      The founder of Grantstone, Wyatt, lived in China for 8/9 years, learned to speak fluent Chinese, and has extended family in China. That’s why I make the case that Grantstone isn’t a typical made in China brand. I understand the initial hesitation people have but I believe fine footwear can be made anywhere on the globe so long as the correct skills, materials, and designs are utilized.
