My dad took me to this place in the 1970's. He introduced me to vinegar on fries. Ever since then, I've been hooked. Providence will always be in my heart.
Went there this summer. Greg was so friendly and accommodating. Took the time out to talk to my girlfriend and myself, explained why it's called "NY System" and made some great conversation in the meantime. Weiners and coffee milk lived up to the hype. Would definitely go back.
Rhode Island Treasure!
I went today. Greg was as friendly as could be. Told my wife and son the whole story and even offered a coffee milk taster which they loved. So delicious
I've eaten at Olneyville New York System several times as an adult. Love the wieners, love the meat sauce! I grew-up eating them with my Dad. However, my Dad used to bring me to N.Y. Lunch since we lived in Woonsocket. Dad would order two wieners for him and two for me all the way and coffee milk. Two wieners were never enough to satisfy me. Dad used to act like he didn't know. :) He would ask me if I wanted another one when we were finished eating the first two. Of course I said "yes" to another wiener. This was routine every time we went for wieners. When my Dad passed years later I couldn't restrain myself one day. I drove to New York Lunch, ordered and ate 10 wieners all the way plus coffee milk. My craving was finally over. I love and miss you Dad! Thank you for the memories! And thank you, God, for my Dad, the wieners and coffee milk!
I used to eat there when I was working at the Star Market as a meatcutter on Manton Ave, around the block in the late 80s...
I remember when they were 10 cents. I would eat 12 when I was a kid. There was no glove or covering of the arm back then.
My friend brought me here for the first time 5 years ago after the club, was good.
Totally a Rhode Island thing. You only appreciate it if you grew up on it. Definitely a stop-in place if you're a tourist or visiting.
Looking good thank you for this video 📸😊
They need to ship this on goldbelly
I yearn. Also a beautifully produced video.
The ONE place I insist on going when I go home to visit. AND I would have my daughter bring me back some after she visited almost every break.
Was there 3 weeks ago, love it!
I live up the street I’m mad I wasn’t there when ya went
"It's a steamed bun with a certain type of hot dog"
Seconds later
"We do not call them hot dogs"
It's a hot dog until it hits the steamed bun and the toppings go on. Then it's a Weiner.
"Beef Stew" was originally called: "Chop Suey", there in the 70's.
If you go to a local stop and shop in RI you're most likely able to find their original spice in packets for you to make at home yourself!
My father’s favorite ! He used to call them Gaggers. 💔💔💔😭😭😭 RIP
Let me tell you, I lived in Providence near 'Onleyville'. You have NOT lived until you've had a New Yorker System weiner. For a long time they would stack the buns on their bare arms. NOOOOOOBODY cared! It's almost sacrilege that they have to use paper now (lol). Whenever we go home there's always a trip to Onlyville. I wish they shipped. That, and Del's lemonade.
Hi Greg
It’s Christina from Colortyme back in the day!!! How are you?
Rhode Island Tradition is coffee milk is made for kids but adults cant get enough
The Olneyville special is two wieners with a medium coffee milk. Add fries for $1.69.
I miss this place so much.. Rhode Island needs a direct flight to/from Las Vegas
Beautiful
Big Nick my boy 🔥
People who have never lived in R.I. will NEVER understand. It's a Little Rhody Staple....I SO miss my Hot weiners. LOL
Well I'm in the Midwest and we call it Coney dog. And I've been trying to come over my own special recipe. I all over the internet. they will give up other recipes but not. coney sauce chili sauce. they really hold on to those.I love Coney dog. And I think I will probably kill for that special recipe ☺️🙆🏽♀️
they sell the seasoning to make the meat sauce. its only really found locally though.
@@ivSpooIKy It's cumin, you can buy it anywhere, but it is impossible to reproduce a proper hot wiener at home.
@@Brocktoon68 they have the seasoning on Amazon do you .know if it's the real seasoning that they use for the . Coney dog sauce. Because I do not want to waste my money. if it's not the same stuff they really use..
NY Lunch in Woonsocket is the only way
4 all the way and a coffe milk please
Fall River has the best dogs you could ever eat!!!
Shhh...the secret spice is cumin. The base is a Nathan's hot dog, the meat sauce is finely ground beef with mainly cumin added, with yellow mustard and finely diced onions that are sweating for hours, topped with an ample amount of celery salt. That's the recipe, and no one can reproduce it at home. Not even close. @AL.BUNDY above is full of it.
You can get better cheaper at weinerama in cranston. Only drawback is there hours!
yall sleepy on olneyville
Want
This was the very last gift I gave to my father before he passed away.. I bring the seasoning packet, Del’s and chow me in sandwiches to his grave on Father’s Day. 😭
So sorry for your loss, amazing things to bring to him.
Love that
I firmly believe your dad is standing right beside you when you visit!!! 🫂❤️
