A Review of 9” Android 8.1 Car Head Unit (Stereo / Radio)

- This video is about a 6 month in-depth review of my 9” screen Android 8.1 car head unit (or stereo or radio whatever you wanna call it) on Toyota, Corolla.
I bought this from Ebay, and it was shipped from China and took about a month to deliver to Sydney, AUS.
This Android head unit is also known as Android 8227L, with 1GB Ram and 16GB internal storage.

Great video,I managed to get it installed,downloaded apps,hotspot and loads more but for some reason I couldn’t change the date and time(I have an iPhone not android)you mentioned android settings(as I didn’t think about it due to having an iPhone)I ran out to the van and changed it within minutes.Now I’m very happy.Thank you👍

This headunit fits real good , almost if it come from the factory with it. Did you buy a specific model headunit for your car ?
Thank you C2Tech, I have a different Head Unit, but have the same Launcher. Noticed on the Home Screen you Pressed the Radio and Settings and they went where they were suppose to go. How did you set that up? If I press Bluetooth, Radio or Settings nothing happens. I do have to Drag the Screen Down, and have access to the settings, etc. I'd like to configure the home buttons. Thank you in Advance.

Hello, I've just purchased a Android Car Stereo 2GB, but I have an issue, my stereo is connected to a Amplifier in my car, and when I use Bluetooth, Video, etc, I can control the volume using the V+, V- that it is in the sidebar of the stereo without any issues but once I open the native radio app no matter how low or if I mute the volume the sound of the radio is still listening, if I raise the volume, the radio will hear louder but if lower the volume or I mute the volume the radio is still listening. any help?

Hi Mate, I recently got the same unit with the same interface as yours. Just wondering if you can help me with the installation of the Navigation system. Mine came with the Google Maps and the IGO Navigation. GPS is connected and detects fine but can't get the IGO to work. They sent me the IGO World file to download and save to a USB which needs to be transfered to the unit.
I have done the download and copy and pasted from the USB to the Internal Storage of the unit but can't get it to work.
PLEASE HELP !!!!

I'm looking at getting a android system. Do you have to keep these systems connected to your phone for them to work? What if my sis borrows the car? Will it work for her? Did you ever had any problems connecting or rather “hearing” what you play over bluetooth? My phone connects to the HU, but no sound nor when I play directly from youtube
Hi mate, i got same head unit, after few days of good running today the touch function is not working properly, couldn't do factory reset because touch is not working properly. I bought from ebay, and seller isn't answering my query. Do you have any idea to do hard reset of device.? Thanks

Very nice review, thank you! Do you have any idea if in "Factory Settings" is any option to display the battery voltage with decimals in "Car Information"? I saw on other players that is not a problem for CAN BUS module to read this info from ECU with one or two decimals.

How do I change the apps on my main screen? Mine currently shows file folder and video and I don't use these. Would like to switch the to other apps I use more often on the main screen. Thx
Hi can you help me with my Andriod multimedia system ,unit was working fine until late April when when I press Radio play its Video that plays and if I press Video the Radio plays also any radio station if I press right side it's the left side station that plays ,please any help would be great

I also purchased this unit for my Golf Mk6 and watched you video several times to get a better understanding of the installation process and functionality. My only remaining issue is, no audio when making a mobile call using the steering wheel buttons (I can see the screen making the call but no audio). However if I use the screen to call I get the usual audio ring tone and can see the call on the screen and talk time is all normal. Any suggestions ?
Did you hook up the microphone
@@cashusclay69able I understand that the Android head unit has a built in microphone and I am not aware that a cable connection is required. I assumed, maybe incorrectly that the connection is covered when the unit is installed via the CanBus cable connectors supplied with the head unit.
I have noticed that when using the hands free to receive a call, I can see the caller ID on the screen and take the call using the OEM steering wheel button but my caller sometimes complains that they have trouble hearing me. This seems to indicates that the head unit microphone is not very sensitive or that a physical cable connection is required to get the OEM microphone working. So this remains an outstanding issue for me but the rest of the head unit is good and functions well for a low budget unit.

Hi thanks for the video. Have you ever disconnected your car battery? Dont I did, and now my Android doesnt recognise my steering wheel settings! When I go into protocol settings it hasnt even got any options to select my car model (Ford Mondeo), and just has a list of Japanese and American cars! So it looks like when you disconnect the battery, it wipes any pre uploaded settings from the factory! not cool ha ha
How did you get the GPS working? I have a Ford Focus (mk2 2011 model) and the display of my stereo is the same as yours. I’m having issues with even though the GPS antenna is plugged into the stereo properly but nothing in the detection. Need help please
you have to click on google map app, then is gonna ask you to put your google account info id and password, once you do it your are good to go.

I bought this unit from an Australian seller and the supplied user manual is absolute crap.
Also, my head unit doesn't have a digital manual.
I have an Android phone so I can only connect with a usb cable via ZLink which is hit and miss. 😖
I just fitted one. The radio reception is terrible. There is a dark blue wire with a bit of coax that isnt used, is that supposed to be powered?

Any way... About the USB DVR...icon in your Android which you are not sure about...
It is to view the front camera which I noticed you fixed on your car windshield..
Looks like you already installed...
If not just go to the file manager folder and find USB folder... Click open usb.dvr icon and the program will install. Then go to the installed USB DVR icon and touch it... Your front or even rear camera will appear on screen...
If does not for rear then... Touch the screen for a few seconds... Then change the your of camera and settings... Your rear camera will pop out before you...
Try it out mate... well if it does not work... I'm sorry... Try other methods...

Unfortunately it does not, but apps do run in the background and you can quick switch.

I bought from ebay. Just search for steering wheel control on eBay or Amazon and around $30-40 price range, you’ll find some good ones like those

I got the same head unit and i have an issue.when i activate the radio, after when i switch to music from youtube or usb or anywhere else there is no sound.any thoughts what it might be? Settings propably?
I am not too sure, I haven’t had that issue. May be try factory reset. After I installed my headunit, I factory reset it to reset all the settings and I manually set it up.
