I was diagnosed 18 months ago at the age of 35, but ‘knew’ I had it for much longer and was avoiding confronting it. My doctor was really helpful and my main concern was not having regular periods which isn’t good because not bleeding can lead to developing abnormal cells in your uterus. I was put on the progesterone only pill and persevered for 6 months until the headaches and constant spotting got too much. I decided to come off it and read some scientific research on supplements that help with PCOS. Here’s what I discovered (note: this is what I read in medical papers and it has worked to improve many of my symptoms. You should always follow proper medical advice and do your own research on reputable cites):
    - Cutting out (or majorly down) on dairy was one of the best things I’ve ever done. I did it before my diagnosis to help with migraines but it has also stopped some of my excessive hair growth and vastly improved the clarity of my skin. Dairy has been linked to ovarian cancer, but not enough research exists yet to fully determine how far this is true.
    - Taking Myo Inositol has been life changing in terms of my periods. I have a regular cycle for the first time in years, which also means my fertility has improved. Myself and my husband don’t want children, but if you read the testimonies of women who have taken this you will hear about some successes. It’s worth a try and can help alongside other prescribed medications.
    - Other supplements that improve the symptoms of PCOS are folic acid, zinc, vitamin b complex, N-acetyl cysteine, and L Carnitine. The first three help regulate periods and improve ovary/egg health and the last two help with insulin resistance.
    - Eat more protein and cut down on carbohydrates. This is good advice for most people, but anyone with PCOS should definitely consider doing this. Carbohydrates turn to sugar/insulin in the body and get stored more easily as fat. Upping my protein and actually eating more (just less carbs) helped me lose 9kg in five months. I wasn’t massively over weight but I was on the boundary according to BMI charts. I feel more like I’m in my own body now and have more confidence and energy. It was more about improving my self esteem than trying to get a ‘perfect’ body.
    - For hair loss, use rosemary oil on the scalp and leave on for a while before washing. Massage your scalp well and use Castor oil on the ends of your damp hair before drying. Also, sleep in a silk bun or equivalent to prevent breakage. I was shocked how much healthier my hair got overnight.
    - Other skin tips are to use jojoba oil at night. It’s not greasy and mimics the skins natural sebum. This means your getting moisture and softness, without risking a breakout. For spots, use salicylic acid and try to use a moisturiser that contains HA. Again, avoid dairy and eat plenty of leafy greens (spinach, kale etc).
    - For my mental health I take sertraline, as prescribed by my doctor, and I also take lions mane mushroom to improve my mood as well as making sure I get out for fresh air whenever I can.
Sorry that this comment has gone on forever, but I really hope this advice might help someone : )
I didn’t do all of this overnight, I implemented things over a few years and slowly built up to my routine now. If you change or add one thing to your lifestyle once a month, think what you’ll achieve in a year.
Be safe, be healthy and be happy with who you are ❤️

SAME! I had heavy, painful periods so I was put on birth control to make them more manageable. I felt crappy & my periods stopped, so I went off the meds. I went back complaining things were worse & was told you have PCOS, you have to go back on birth control. Nothing else. No tests, even! And the meds are making me so sick & only worsening my symptoms so I'm finally quitting them for good & finding something else to help.

I used to have all the symptoms, then I make some lifestyle changes... now I'm number 2☺️☺️ the list of the things I did that change my life and I lose weight.
    1) prayer...(2)I drink chamomile tea with apple cider vinegar first thing in the morning on empty stomach..
    3) I drink two cups of water an hour after the chamomile tea
4)...I don't go to gym,I do simple workout at home, like walking 10 000 steps just in my room..
5)I eat seeds like, pumpkin seeds, flaxseed, almond, sunflower and peanut..
6)I only eat vegetable soup, eggs including chicken breast..
7)...I stop eating fried foods, pasta, rice, noodles, refined carbohydrates and surgary food..
    8) I drink 3-4 liter of water a day and I drink mints tea twice a day, and I drink chamomile tea mix with a little cayenne pepper and apple cider vinegar and drink it before I go to bed...I pray that all women suffering from pcos will receive healing in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ 🙏 God Bless y'all 💗💗💗🥰🥰
Edit.... Hello pcos sisters.. here's an update.. well i started this routine last year, for 9 years i wasn't ovulating and i was overweight with horrible breakout and irregular periods, I was also struggling with depression.. but last year I made a decision to change my lifestyle, which i posted before, and it's the best decision i ever made, my period became regular, my weight from 88 kg to 56 kg.. my skin is clear now,I now have alot of energy, I started ovulating and conceive twice but had miscarriage, my doctor told me that I had miscarriages because I'm anemic...I never knew i had anemia until my doctor told me to run a blood test... my advice to y'all is don't give up, you can overcome it... believe in yourself,if you want to follow up with my tips, make sure you take iron supplements, vitamin D3, vitamin B12 and folic acid in other to prevent anemia..even though i miscarriage twice am still happy because for 9 years i wasn't ovulating at all not to talk of conceiving, there's hope y'all.. God is with us all 🙏 Good luck to everyone one of us in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ 🙏

Wow! I could literally cry right now. This was the best explanation of pcos that I’ve ever seen. The biggest Aha moment was the different types of pcos. I was diagnosed years ago as a teen *cue 7 years of different birth control horror stories* In my 20’s I stopped taking it and managed to lose weight by (over) working out, but my period regulated somewhat. Then I had my daughter naturally and thought pcos was behind me. She’s 7 now and I have been struggling with pcos symptoms for the last 4 years. It’s so clear to me now that the pre pregnancy pcos type i had is not the same as my current pcos type/symptoms. Literally eye opening. Thank you!

PCOS is a lifelong GENETIC condition, but it displays more/less at different stages of your life. I'm in Menopause, and it's affecting that a bit.
Look for it in your family tree, and give your relatives a heads-up about it. Men can have it too, but for them it has a different name.

Whenever I did keto a few years ago I had lost 40 pounds but the weight loss stopped and my hair was falling out. I had cut out all berries, stevia, dairy and even increased protein but my weight kept going up. Then I tried working out and I was just hungrier, dizzy, nauseous and I was still gaining weight. My health went down hill from there. It’s frustrating because even trying to go plant based(starch solution) I still couldn’t lose weight and my acne was still bad. Even carnivore didn’t work.

I totally get it I think PCOS doesn't like extremes and responds much better to a more gentle approach Anything else just raises cortisol levels and leads to an even greater hormonal imbalance Think 10÷14 fasting rather than 20:4 intermittent fasting Think low carbs vs. keto Think pilates, yoga and walking vs. HIIT or high intensity cardio Anything that takes things into extremes puts your body into a survival mode and further exacerbates existing PCOS symptomps

Definitely all 4 of them. But I’m working my way through dealing with them and along with working with a Bio-Identical Hormone Specialist, my symptoms are slowly improving. There is hope. Going to try those CBD drops at night though and see if it helps with sleep. That ones still a huge challenge.

I quit my personal trainer last year bc I was working out almost daily and I just kept gaining weight! I didn't know it was PCOS and I was just depressed and my weight is now over 300lbs. I've always struggled with my weight and my lowest in adulthood was like 190 (and that was when I had a borderline ED). For everyone struggling, please keep your hopes up. It does get better. I see my weight lower as I'm trying these new methods.

I can't thank you enough. Even doctors couldn't help me explain or tell me that to treat PCOS, you not need to lose weight but need to heal your insulin hormone and make your blood sugar level back to being normal. I have been diagnosed with both hypothyroidism and PCOS and your videos make more sense. I have gone through a lot of stress which can explain as to how it has affected me. Thank you to both of you. Now, I really know that hidden long-term stress can also contribute to PCOS.

I didn't have any issues until I started depo provera. I was on it from 2007-2011 and gained 120lbs. I had trouble losing while on depo. I also have insulin resistance and estrogen dominance because of the depo. So many people think I'm absolutely crazy to believe depo caused it all. I started keto in October 2017 at 272.6 I'm 5'0 I started intermittent fasting January 1st 2020 at 222 and have been walking since starting keto I'm up to 10 miles a day 7 days a week. I sleep better since keto and I've lost all that depo weight. There's no hormonal issues with anyone else in my family. They all have 2 or more kids and none have taken any birth control including depo. I had my first cycle at 8 years old around the same time my parents divorced and my grandma passed away.

Now I have this problem of having a regular cycle due to the Depo. I want one more child but hard due to this. I advice others don't take the depo it will harm your hormones.

This is helpful! I was irregular, so my pediatrician had suggested that I had PCOS when I was about 15, but then nothing was done since we were already managing that symptom. I moved and then bounced around to a few other doctors and mentioned it, but it never elicited much response as other things (since I have a heart condition and overweight). Finally my current doctor was the one who had a reaction that made me take it seriously, since PCOS just seemed like a minor background thing in my life. I didn't realize how many things connected back to it and I'm still trying to get things under control, but I swear as soon as I turned 30 all my symptoms started changing and I feel like I've been playing catch up on how to take care of it.

Thank you for this video!

  • @celesteadams4833

So I have all 4 types...the only PCOS symptom I do not have is period irregularity. I have never skipped a period in my life, and seeing that I also suffer from excruciating endometriosis that was the one symptom I was hoping for. So all the gynaecologists I have ever consulted have always said lose weight and the symptoms will go away, but no one told me how to. So last year I decided that if they can't help me, I will just have to figure it out. Fast forward a year later and I am down 36kg's and 2 kg's away from a normal BMI. And as proud as I guess I should be that I managed to do that despite the odds, none of my symptoms have subsided or improved in the least. I am currently gluten free and dairy free so I don't understand. I can literally count my hair on my head, I can grow a beard that would shame most men, I have to cover acne with layers of makeup and even with the significant weight loss my abdomen is still carrying a significant amount of fat. In fact because I lost weight everywhere else, I think my stomach appears larger (and yes, I am going to punch anyone that asks me if I am pregnant). I just don't understand how a condition that is so prevalent in our society is so misunderstood and under researched. I don't think any healthcare professional I have seen knows exactly what it is, they just know how to diagnose it. And from reading comments on the thousands of videos I have watched trying to educate myself it seems I am part of a vast majority. Sorry just had to vent... Loved the video! ❤️

I found out I had a orange sized fibroid and had it removed last year, it had been contributing to my month long cramps and spotting. But I recently moved into the inflammation type of pcos and may stop eating gluten and dairy.

Tell her to STOP the HIIT workouts. Some women are very sensitive to that type of workout and it can cause high cortisol in the body as it’s very intense.
Just search up stories of women who deal with acne, hair loss, weight gain when they do too much HIIT. It’s very common.
She should stick to basic weight training, easy cardio, and yoga.

I definitely have all of them! Do you have any other natural treatments for inflammation? I’ve gotten mine down, but still not where it needs to be. Also, any other tips for adrenal fatigue?

Hi Andrea, I was diagnosed with PCOS years ago but it's currently unclear whether my current doctor agrees with the diagnosis. Although there is variation from person to person, inflammation can be managed by not exercising too intensely, by taking baths when needed, and staying hydrated. Foods that help me greatly are fish, tomatoes and cinnamon. And recently I started regulating the humidity throughout my living space and I've noticed an improvement. I see you posted this 3 months go! aha but maybe you'll see my response :) Let me know if you found any other effective treatments!

I have all types and then add post-menopause and a mental illness. I really don't know why I am still alive.

My endocrinologist said Adrenal fatigue is not a real condition. It is manmade.

I got a hair tissue mineral analysis and based on that they told me my PCOS symptoms were probably caused by copper toxicity...especially the irregular cycles. but also I was on the border of adrenal fatigue. it was quite interesting. once I started eating less carbs my cycles normalized...but then they went crazy again and I found out it's because of iodine deficiency. its all quite confusing.

The thing that hurts the most is that people look at you with irony when you tell them you don't eat and you exercise and you still look like balloon. I am so grateful that I discovered your channel ❤
