Someone pointed out in another reaction video I watched that Lucy said earlier in the show that Cyberpunks are remembered for how they died, but in the end she didn't remember David how he died but how he lived, being happy and joyful with her.
Yeah, his final victorious moment is for this.
I think she meant by generic other cyberpunks, not necessarily by their close friends.He surrely became a legend that died while dancing the tango with Adam Smasher and he respected enough the effort and potential to offer him becoming an engram....so yeahhh everyone not close to him remembers how he died.
Well no, the line is they make a name for themselves by how they die. Of course the people in their lives remember them for the good times, but the city knows about David because of his assault on Arasaka Tower.
Also saw someone say that the doc told David that after his last dose of medicine, he won't be coming back....but noone realizes that Lucy's kiss was his last dose of medicine. He wasn't supposed to come back to normal during the free fall until she kissed him. She literally saved him from cyberpsychosis.
If it helps, David did everything Johnny Silverhand tried to accomplish with Alt, and he won because his love for Lucy was stronger than his hate for Night City.
He died with his humanity intact, if not a little damaged. Not a bad way to go out at all.
Johnny Silverhand killed Alt, he pulled the connector in an impulse without waiting to disconnect her from the software, he was an egocentric, selfish and impulsive idiot, that's why he is forgotten in V's era, the only reason his character is likable is how he grows up and accepte all his mistake in V's head, proving that he can be a better person in his Johnny's ending.

Even Adam Smasher had to give David respect at the end. I'm glad he put him out of his misery when he refused to be a construct, rather than letting Arasaka have their way with him and vivisect him into another killing machine to be brainwashed and let loose on their rivals when it's convenient. That may be the extent of humanity that Smasher is still capable of, and definitely nowhere near a redemption arc, but it was a nice touch.
but what if, in 2077 you could rescue David's construct, adding a new story to the game and bringing your soul at peace

How come he killed Johnny Silverhand but his construct is obtained anyway, why wouldn’t he be able to get David’s?
In the end I think it's so tragically sad that David did not realize that Lucy's dream had shifted from wanting escape and going to the moon, to being with David.
To the point where David became her moon. Hence why every time they kiss, the moon is there.
But there is little future for those who don't expect to have one. And David it gave it all for her. And that's beautiful

Rebecca was best girl, if there's ever been a best girl. That friend that puts her feelings aside for the betterment of the group. I think it's truly understated just how selfless her actions are. Would be so easy for her to be jealous, bitter, antagonistic. She's anything but that.

Such a devastating ending. It’s amazing how such a peppy song can become so heart wrenching. Yet, once the tears stop (well, slow), it’s a surprisingly hopeful ending as well.
Another good reaction series. Enjoy joining the legions who immediately went back to exact revenge on Smasher.
I get the same vibes with this ending as I do with the game's. It's incredibly bitter sweet, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Just for Context there is a way to Cure Cyberpsychosis.
Mike Pondsmith, the guy who created Cyberpunk has said that cyberpsychosis can be cured by love.
It's Human connection that helps a person recover from it and love is the strongest form of connection.
That is why David is this resistant, his Love for Lucy litteraly keeps him sane.
My headcanon for Adam Smasher keeping his sanity just got all sorts of goofy 😅
Unfortunately there’s no plans for a season 2, Edgerunners was always planned as a one off story, they did add Edgerunner easter eggs in 2077 and we may or may not get more in Phantom Liberty DLC, but ultimately whether or not we ever see Lucy again will depend on what CDPR wants to do with her character. But they did say they would like to make more Cyberpunk animes in the future with new stories and characters!
Where did they say will make more Cyberpunk animes? I hope that is the case because David and Lucy's story is finished, they should make a new Cyberpunk Anime with a fresh set of characters and maybe Lucy can appear in it for a cameo role

I want more stories from Night City, but I dont want Lucy involved in them at all. This was a perfect ending to her story, nothing more needs to be said and she could disappear forever and thats ok. Would definitely be a huge bonus if studio trigger keeps animating it too because their style fit the world perfectly
Best outcome is another series with another crew, maybe a corpo or a nomad story next time around.

Going in I was excited to return to Night City but I didn't expect to be blown away by this show's story, style and characters. Love it.
Trigger is infamous for good 1 season shows. They have so far never made a season 2 and they likely won’t start now lmao.

The writing of this show is just so fucking incredible. Even though I've relived the entire series about 10 times now through reactions of others after having seen it myself obviously, I still completely tear up at the exact same spots. The one where David says "You're right, mom. I know I can, I'll do my best. You got my word. Arasaka, all the way to the top" puts me in tears because I know it's basically over for David.
The next part where Lucy is desperately trying to bring David back from Cyberpsychosis as they fall to the ground and kisses him, and David says he isn't worth it. Then when David says "Sorry... wish we could've gone to the moon together".
And lastly when Lucy sees David's memory on the moon, carefree dancing in the sky.

Despite the issues at launch which were pretty much all technical, underneath there's always been a really good story about what it means to be alive, what relationships matter, legacy, how people can change you etc.

Spot on, I'd like to add latter half of episode 6, I literally can't watch it without my eyes bawling. Maine and Dorio were so lovely characters and end of their journey put a literal hole in my heart.
Same especially that scene where she kisses him back to reality with the moon in the background as their song plays literally broke me inside, tears were indeed flowing. And his apology for not taking her to the moon is just icing on the cake
Its funny cause as sad as this ending is for us, its actually one of the happiest outcomes you can expect from nigt city.
The editor that David was a fan of said it before "you either lose yourself completely, or die, no in between", while very pessimistic sounding, everything in the city pulls you to lose yourself, lose your humanity, betray those close to you, kill for money. To "die", as an alternative of losing yourself means keeping your humanity.
David pulled himself through in spite of using heavy chrome, he keeps his humanity better than anyone, even after all the trauma he's been through, even after he hits the last vial "the point of no return" (said by doc), he still got back in control thanks to Lucy.
He was offered by Adam to be a "construct", which while it might sound like he could've been kept alive, it would literally lose him what was left of himself. He rejected the offer and to his last second kept his humanity, his own self, nothing took it from him, no matter what he went throught.
Its honestly insane, he was far more special than Adam Smasher.
It's really interesting hearing peoples' different takes on the ending. I personally saw it as one of the most depressing ways it could possibly end. Almost everyone ends up dying, and Lucy is pretty much dead inside. You can see it in her lifeless expression when she's in the shuttle. All she ever wanted was to live happy and safe with David. The moon wasn't really her dream. It was an escape from her past. David became her true dream, but he just couldn't see that. And in trying to give her what he thought she wanted, he destroyed himself and her in the process.
There's a little more tinfoil-depresso stuff you can infer as well. They got the reward money and split it between two. It had to be way less than a million because that's how much Faraday was being paid. Which means Lucy got probably got no more than ~250k, which if you remember is the amount needed for a ONE WAY ticket. Couple that with the way she sort-of had this... "final acceptance" look on her face as she opened her arms to the void... Could make the argument she had no intention of leavin the moon alive.
true but david would've had time to realize that if he didnt get betrayed by kiwi, which led to him having to save lucy. It was his intention to go with her, but then he had to save her. No happy endings in night city. This is the best we get. At least she's out of night city
do not forget they are in Nigth City, and they are ER, this is the only Way how their lives could have ended
Nah, the reward was 2.5mil, it was to be split evenly 5 ways at 500k ea. So Lucy and Falco ended up with 1.25mil each
um what? one million is what Faraday was being paid to hand over Lucy alive. The job for Militech was way more than that, and who knows how much else David had saved up for Lucy.

Yeah David's death was a bummer, but it didn't make me cry.
But Lucy smile dropping when she's sees David on the moon and then he disappeared, that shit hurt me. Day 5 after finishing and i still feel empty.
lmao i couldn’t agree more. i finished the anime a couple of days ago. thought i’d make it all the way through without crying until she envisioned David there with her.
Something about having two people love each other so much, then getting ripped away is gut wrenching. Seeing Lucy hold David so close and never be able to bring him back fucking suckkkkssss
I don't really cry that much from shows/movies/games, but this final episode fucking broke me. The voice acting, the music, everything it's just too good and comes together so well.
Ep 10 got me crying into my cereal.
When I thought about it, Rebecca got the kindest death, and honestly life possible given the circumstances. She loved her crew, but David especially, and you saw how much losing him to cyberpsychosis was killing her inside. At the end she saw no other possible way to save him except Lucy.
So in the end, what 'Becca knew was that David saved Lucy, and most impoartantly from what she knew at the time: Lucy saved David from psychosis. And then lights out, going toe-to-toe with the boogeyman of legend, with no time for regrets, just her usual cheerful rage.
This was an awesome journey, I really enjoy watching what other people think of a series I love, and was even cooler to see how you were able to pick up on details I didnt pick up on by having played the game before. Loved the videos! ✌️

Excellent reaction (as always), Meg! I’m such a Rebecca stan, and this final episode left me absolutely devastated 😭😭 As to your question about a second season, I believe that CDPR has said that they have no plans for it, but it sounds like there is room for them to change their minds.
Ugh, this show really got to me for ALL the reasons. 🙃 But it also completely sealed my love for the world of Cyberpunk 2077. Great reaction to the series Meg!
That last scene, she covers the sun with her hand but then after seeing David enjoying the sunlight, she embraced it.
Lucy and David's relationship hit me like a freight train. Man this show was so good.
Great reaction! I think with the passing of Kevin Conroy today and this ending my heart shattered like the first time I watched it lol. If you go for a replay of the game I had fun finding the show locations. They were super accurate with it all from David’s mega building, Lucy’s apartment and more!

I love how this story was told and how many people are getting to experience a truly dystopian story. Very few if any have a good ending so for this bitter sweet ending still gave me an emotional roller coaster I needed.

There's a drink named after David in the in-game bar. A shot of vodka on ice, topped with a splash of Ni-Cola. "Aim high, and go out with a bang." Describes our boy David to a T.
What people miss with the show is that Night City is a meat grinder, luring in people with the dream of "making it big" or "becoming legends".
The best thing to do is to use Night City and leave, not try make a living in it.
But what David did that made Edgerunners a bittersweet ending was despite dying he beat Night City.
He spat in the face of Arasaka, beat Cyberpsychosis, saved Lucy from a terrible fate and made enough money to send her to the Moon.
His love for his mom, his friends, for Lucy. All of those things are what gave him the mental and emotional strength to use the Sandevistan and the Cyberskeleeton to such an extent.
It what no soulless corporation could ever achieve, for corporations cut away humanity for profit.
What made David "special" wasn't that he was "built different" or was strong enough to take on everything Night City can throw at him.
David was special because despite being born in that shithole of a city, he kept his humanity; he was the diamond in the rough.
The ending is depressing not only because of the tragic ending to David and the crew, but because we knew that this was their fate living in a world like Cyberpunk 2077.
Its a warning of what's to come if we don't change the course of the future, and its a reminder of whats truly important in a superficial world, the people we love and our time with them.

The anime truly does the terror that is Adam Smasher justice.
The song at the end was "I really want to stay at your house" it does have a music video that is pretty good. You should check out "Let You Down" its music video is a prequel story to edgerunners
It made me cry and remember my old day with my father, working hard at construction and fighting every day to rebuild and sell them, but his cancer ended him..😛😂🥲.. this anime can be referenced to any situation in live friends, love and losing love ones

Makes sense. Its a standalone series. Cyberpunk 2077 is Season 2. And next year the expansion Phantom Liberty is coming out.
Rewatching it I just noticed David got over cyberpsycosis if he did ever survived he could have lived a normal life with Lucy but i also forgot the setting is Night City.
It's the song that gets you every time, and I know they said they wouldn't be a season 2, but I saw a video where someone said that if they brought it back for season 2, they could have made it. He was still kidnapped, but what he experienced was the BD he was under

It's been so long and I'm still not over this show. Trauma creeping back in I guess. I love how Lucy wrote each one a message in the Columbarium in the game. I got 3861hrs+ on the game and my favorite radio is 98.7 Body Heat Radio

It's often how you live your life, however short, that matters in Night City. At least he died human and true to himself which is more than you can say for that monster that is Adam Smasher. Next time I finish the game I'll end Smasher for Johnny and David!

So first I have to say that CD has said that there are no plans for a season 2 but honestly I don't want one, short and concise stories like these are just everything to me. Unless it introduces new characters and a new story then I am all for it, second note that song that played during David's retrace of his route to school (Health - major crimes feat - window weather) I feel when most people talk about this EP they don't talk about this song, to me this makes the song so underrated and yet this song tops higher than the main theme I LOVE HEALTH so goddamn much. Anyway I loved the points you made at the end and parallels people have made in the comments 👌 rewatching the final moon scene made me cry again thanks for carrying those emotions across the screen 😊
The writer makes us love the characters and decided to kill them off to make us love them even more.
Here I am again torturing myself and leaking tears right along with you. Amazing how sincere the feels hit on purely fictional character's demise. The line "I didn't want to watch you die" is instant 💔 for me 😭. And I agree Rebecca is the MVP best girl.

Cyberpunk 2077 is the second season. And next year the expansion Phantom Liberty for Cyberpunk 2077 is coming out. I will start my 3rd playtrough in 2023

Dont know if you did that in your playthrough but you can get Rebeccas Shotgun and David Jacket in the game and kind of meet Falco too. There is a Cyberpunk interactive map which shows where you find all of the edgerunner content.

I don't know if you think it's a bit redundant, but I think a second reaction series where 1 person has seen it and 1 person hasn't would be interesting. I just imagine you crying at moments that the other person has no idea about, ha. I know I definitely couldn't make it through episode 2 again dry eyed.
This is late but the animation studio "trigger" best work is called gurren lagann. Its more a of an anime for guys but it is an iconic and irreplaceable series in the community
