I remember being a teen and roaming through the streets of the town with my young hooligans looking for magical, mysterious and hidden skate spots where we could hone our skills and shred super sick rails and tre flips and nollies over a 5 step gap to nose manuals.... and then life hit. Had to work 2 jobs, we all got girlfriends or moved away for college and our skate team all disbanded. I miss those days... some of the best (and most sketchy) days of my life... R.I.P. my skate bro/best friend Dusty 🙏🏾
How skate spots are born: Start a business, put up a no skating sign because you don't want legal responsibility for the numerous injuries skaters acquire...that's it.

Yeah, I used to skate. It wasn't until I became a business owner that I realized how destructive and disruptive we can be. It costs several thousand dollars to repair damaged concrete, and no business owner wants you splitting your melon on their doorstep.
@@SkunkApe407 it’s incredible how it’s gotten to the point that a private business is somehow responsible for kids who trespass and then proceed to injure themselves. It’s such an ass backwards system started by the toxic sueing culture that Americans love so much.

@@SkunkApe407 yeah its crazy. Same for homeowners with trampolines too. Make sure those nets up. If someone goes on your property and flip n buss they stuff they can sue.
To all the people saying this is vandalism, this looks like a drainage ditch that is dried out. All the edges and curves are to manage the flow of water. If there isn't any water the system just sits there taking up space. It is literally the perfect place to do this. It's not private property, and it's out of the way.

I was gonna say this, but it looks like a ditch spot, so no one really goes down there. If this was a sidewalk or really any other spot with traffic id use clear
Believe it or not it is clear lacquer. When it’s wet it makes the concrete look black, and when it dries it’s a darker slightly yellow clear coat.

i remember buying wax from my local skate shop & applying it to a long fountain ledge only for some older skaters to come along & scrape it all off with a football shin pad saying it’s pointless.

I apply the wax while the lacquer is still wet so the wax keeps it from evaporating and it becomes almost like grinding on a coping

I'm a old time skater. We never used any of the tools you used. The reason why we had black spot on the edges was because if the wax. It wasn't no rub brick or lacquer crap. Just wax and grinding with out boards was enough.
Your rub brick and lacquer is what gave boarding a bad name. That's why your boarding in a ditch.
Ledges are also black because bmxers rub their tires on them. At least thats why i figured the sides of ledges are always black. Heavy use bmx spots have like a half-a-wheel high strip of rubber on them, it never fails
Damn back in the day we just used a white candle or clear gulf wax. Doing it your way (making an obvious dark stripe down the ledge) is what gets spots around where I live shut down quick. And $75 tickets. That ledge looks super slick fast! I think I'm gonna try this technique...thanks!

i’m 26 and i dont feel the need to get bothered over things that have little to no impact on my life. like, this wall, isnt gonna last forever. no reason it needs to stay pristine when it could be used for entertainment. then in 20 years when they knock all that concrete out to make room for an apartment complex to house the growing population, at least i got enjoyment from that wall while it was there, while u just get angry the wall u’ve come to obsess about isnt as pristine as you thought it would be 20 years later. also, an apple a day keeps the doctor away, and black lives matter, more than yours does. Try to aim for no more than 2 sheets of toilet paper to wipe your pussy when you pee, and 4 sheets to wipe your dripping anus after you poopie. you can fold the toilet paper in half after the first wipe, then again after the second. inspect the third wipe and if there is still poopie debris, then and only then you may take 2 more squares of paper and repeat the process until complete.

I use those stones to buff out latex before I lay vinyl floor for coverings.
I use those to smooth out block before it’s painted. Like school gyms and fire stations and such
You forgot about the step where someone who can see you from 3 blocks away in their highrise condo sees you and calls the police saying you are disturbing the peace. Then you try to explain to the officer that you are in the middle of a storm surge water collection area and the officer gets aggressive saying he does not need back talk. So you take your board and leave.

I'm a big fan of skating, been doing it for 20 years. I just want everyone to know that what he did is considered vandalism and can land you in jail with a hefty fine.
U don’t go to jail for a misdemeanor, at least in the US there’s no way ur getting locked up for this.

@@Dreadspn prob just got that from being charged with sadly more misdemeanor’s than I can count myself, including a handful of gross misdemeanors, and also having experienced being charged with felonies and seeing the difference of how they’re dealt with in court. It may be possible , but generally is extremely unlikely to have jail time for a low class misdemeanor like this ledge (i believe new york is harsher with 250$ and below being a class A misdemeanor, while most other starts are around 450$) unless you already have a record of similar offenses. Also, I prob got the idea from having more run ins then i could ever count with cops kicking me out of spots and never having been threatened with jail time, but having been threatened with fines and having to pay fines twice. So, you’re right, it’s technically possible to go to jail for a misdemeanor, I shouldn’t have said that, but having been charged with low class and high class misdemeanor’s, my experience was that even for gross misdemeanor’s you usually get probation or fines until you’re a long term repeat offender. in the case of vandalism (through skateboarding/waxing a curb or rail) it is extremely unlikely to get you jail time unless you’re ruining something worth an abnormal amount of money. On paper it may say “up to a year in jail”, but that being the maximum sentence for all misdemeanor’s, in my experience even if u had 3 class A misdemeanor’s and this is your 4th, you’re not spending any jail time. But, good catch, misdemeanor’s do carry the possibility of jail time, and I should’ve said if you’re committing class A misdemeanor’s like skateboard vandalism, the likelyhood of you going to jail for it is extremely slim to nil.

Why is it that people hate skaters with a passion? Cyclists don’t get hate this much. I saw a comment about a guy going out of his way to run over every skateboard he sees. This is absolutely irrational hatred over a mere hobby.
Like there are people in the comments who genuinely believe that skateboarding should basically be outlawed. Or that skating on concrete or railing will cause damage? It doesn’t even make sense, that’s like saying bikes should be banned because they damage the roads meant for cars.
Then when it comes to “private property” most of these guys don’t own the building that’s being skated around. Nor do they get paid enough to act like the building inspector. Like, I get it, if it was your front porch or perhaps in your driveway or yard. I promise you that the actual owner of the building, or CEO of the company or whatever, doesn’t even know you exist, let alone that there are rascals “causing damage” with their wheels.
I don’t even skate or have the balance to, I just had to pop off at this insane amount of unjustified hate for literally no reason.
