@@BravoBassin Yep. I am literally terrified when I watch a knife review on TH-cam. I wait in panic for the moment when the guy starts batoning a piece of wood as ritually as it is pointlessly. The idea is to enjoy the video, but be quick enough to close it before that fateful moment. My God, what a bunch of parrots...

@@user-eh8qy6lj5n OMG! you have me rolling now! My wife even cracked up on this comment!
ANd ya everytime I see someone start batoning a piece of wood with a knife I just sit there and think what a moron.
And then I click off the video and go watch something else.
THe funny thing for me is My older brother is actually a blade smith and his knives just got picked up and put into smokey mountain knife works. (Jackalope knives) if your wondering they are lsited on there sit as coming soon currently but that is beside the point.
THe point is he and I were talking and he as well as many other blade smith will say to me all the time batoning is stupid and it is a great way to damage and destroy your knife.
Just be cause you can baton with it does not mean you should and it is not what a knife is designed for in the first place.
And then they follow up with that is what hatchets and axes are for stupid lol!
he expained to me that it will cause major stress cracks and fractures you may not even see until the knife finally breaks.
And he and other said it will eventually fail maybe not today maybe not tommorrow but it will.
So ya I will keep saying it Batoning is dumb and I will say it in every knife video I make lol.
thanks again for the great comments and watching the channel.

It is a nice knife, just a tip: if you get the sun behind your camera your videos will be a lot more clear, I can hardly tell anything about the looks of the knife because it’s blurry

thanks for the comment and as far as the sun goes usually I am not filming so late when the sun is setting but I have to deal with it sometimes as this bench were I shoot these videos is mounted into the ground so there is no moving it.

Awesome seeing this in use in the kitchen! I gravitate to that shape in a fixed blade, with a nice tall blade that acts like a guard. Id love to see a flatter grind from them, id probaby buy one specifically to use just in the kitchen, as that size is the perfect size for a utility knife, and then use the sheath and fire steel to upgrade a different knife. I might just do that with the stainless model
Totally agree that the sheath and firesteel really make the knife worth every dollar, i commented on another video that you should buy some extra sheaths to upgrade your other knives but you already thought of that!

ya it works great in the kitchen I am probably going to get another one just to keep in the kitchen. And ya BPS sells there sheaths with fire steals separately as well I have bought 3 of there sheaths so far for other knives and they work great.
I think for the money and quality there knives are the best deal around right now but that is just my opinion.

How's the edge retention on the stainless vs the 1066?

So far I would have to say it is just as good in my opinion as mine has stayed super sharp so far.
I will say that either one would be a great choice as I have several BPS knives both in stainless and the carbon steel and I feel that both are great.
It really just boils down to how much maintenance you want to have to do on your knives.
me I like both but living were I do stainless steel is just a better choice do to all the rain we get.
