It's worth supporting this fantastic company and product and keeping it sustainable. I have no issue paying the annual subscription. There is no free ride buddies.
from my research it's the most accurate device for sleep tracking. I think the fee is justifiable if you care about your sleep data. Especially considering the price of something like Whoop.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I agree that you shouldn't have to pay a monthly subscription to get your data. I also feel that you should be able to wear the ring at the gym since these metrics are important.
I love ❤ my Oura Ring - it allows me to track so many important stats in my day/day. Oura continue to expand features/functionality so the monthly subscription is worth it IMO.
@@reezfamo - ☺...no, I work in tech. I'm always exploring/trying new products that push and elevate technology to a whole new level. My comment was genuine, and I'm still excited with my Oura & all the stats (*they have released some pretty cool new features/stats since I left that comment too 😁). To each their own, just my 2 cents worth.
Had one 1,5 year. Loved it. Couldn’t justify the fee. It’s a shame. Can’t really replace it with a smart watch either since I was all in for the sleep data
I got my ring about two weeks ago. Someone got it for Christmas and didn't want and put it on Facebook for half the price. Whilst I had read about it, I found it to be pricey, until now. So, it was easy to get started with the app. I do find the information in the app takes a little getting used to but they have guides to help you understand its capabilities. I have the Hauwei Watch D and compared the results. Sleep and heart rate information was pretty close. The oura tends to record more steps than my watch. Overall I'm satisfied with the ring but will not like pay the subscription. My Watch D provides most of the information without a subscription. Going forward, the ring will be supplemental to my watch on the days when I wear a non smart watch, the ring will count my steps. I think it does that and record your sleep without a subscription. Without the discount, I would have skipped the oura but noe that I have it, I'll keep it.
Oh I didn’t realize they record your sleep without paying, good to know! It’s not a bad idea to have both the ring and your watch - I thought about it as well!
for a device of this type and the fact that the readings are not certified by any health organisation so we just need to trust them even when we all know that some of the readings are very inaccurate paying 400$ alone is overpriced. on top of that they want u to pay a subscription too =)) good luck with that
You technically can wear it in the gym but it was too thick for me to wear it in the gym as it constantly got in the way of gripping and got pushed against bars/dumbbells, making it uncomfortable
I was interested in that ring until I heard that you had to have a monthly subscription to be able to use it to the fullest, so I will buy the HALO Health ring instead, it seemed to be the same thing but cheaper and no monthly subscription.
Very honest and interesting video! Thanks!! < Additional subscription no way > Excuse me… any of the ring or apple watch is able to measure blood pressure??? 😅 thanks!!
I purchased the ring, 2 years of warranty and a year of membership. Now they want my CC# for the year of membership again. I already paid for it so I tried to contact them on their Help setup and that’s a joke!!!. You can write a work ticket or try to chat with a pre written bot. This is my second Oara ring and probably my last. They are playing the bean counter sales numbers and not serving the customer. They were first but now have competition. It won’t be long before they lose this race.
It’s unfortunate because I have been wanting this ring for so long but if I am paying over $300 for this ring why do I have to pay for a monthly subscription?
Yes agreed! I can maybe understand if you are really interested in getting detailed sleep data but for most people, I don’t see it being worth the monthly subscription
People over-react over the sub fee. The price of the ring pays for R&D and that small and very capable tech in the ring form factor, the sub pays for the cost for the ongoing cost of maintaining datacenters to process and compile your data. $6 is fine for that.
The subscription is a deal breaker for me. Thanks for this review. I can mark off my Father's Day wish list.
@@z3ro7o Samsung will have something say about that I'm sure.

It’s $6 bucks a month. Lol. Brokie.

I do like that you can purchase the ring with your HSA/FSA and the monthly subscription is eligible also. I guess that makes it worth it?
I agree about the monthly fee, i like the ring but the fee turns me off. Great honest review.

you definitely work for Oura

Yeah I will say sleep tracking was superior on the Oura ring compared to my Apple watch, I definitely miss it!
Same price and half the membership fee, or no fee and $150 up - then I’d still be owning one. Let’s hope competitors step up their game!

Ultra human ring air no subscription
@@scottwiggans6292 not even close still only samsung or apple can take the thrown
While I really want to go with the Oura, I am leaning toward Ultrahuman due to the fee.

Is it too thick to be able to wear it in the gym or just a habit thing?

The perfect question

Yes agreed, so many options out there outside of Oura!
I agree that the information gathered is “ours” with the purchase of the ring. The 5.99 is not a huge amount, but it’s the principle of the thing.
I totally agree you pay all this money for the ring and they wanted to charge you for subscription fee. That’s insane.
Is the charger included when you buy a ring?
Yes it is!
Do you have to wear it on your index finger or can you wear it on the ring finger?
Oura recommends you wear it on your index or middle finger for accurate reading but I think it’ll be okay wearing it on your ring finger if you had to
Can’t see how this ring would be good for running. Most people’s hands will slightly swell from running - potentially making the ring uncomfortable.
Great video. I will definitely pass on the ring
Very honest and interesting video! Thanks!! < Additional subscription no way > Excuse me… any of the ring or apple watch is able to measure blood pressure??? 😅 thanks!!
For someone who doesn't own or like smart watches it's a good alternative?
Yes, especially if you’re interested in tracking your sleep!
Very detailed review helped me decide NOT to go ahead with purchase at this moment :). Thanks

I have a brand new ring for sale 200
Oura Ring is awesome !! So cool sleek and minimal !! I love mine. Dump your big annoying, distracting Smart Watch and get an Oura Ring.
A monthly membership for a ring that costs that much? No thanks.

Wear workout gloves and you can wear the ring to the gym. How are people not thinking of that as such a simple fix. Amazes me.
Try deadlifting with this
James, thank you for making this review for us ......... as soon as you said monthly subscription that's all I need it to hear .... I'M OUT !!!!!
Subscription for a redundant gadget. The audacity.
The audacity indeed!!
Yo, Samsung should go after Oura for copying their Samsung Health Sleep page. 4:47
Waiting for the Samsung ring that won't have a monthly fee.
Yeah, in my opinion, the subscription is bullshit. If you have to pay for the features behind a pay wall, you don’t own the device.
Ours vs apple watch
do you really youre gonna sleep better with this ring 😂😂😂
Terrible take
