Although working-class Philadelphia boxer Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) lost his high-profile bout with the cocky world champion Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers), his Cinderella story has caught the national sports media's attention, and he now has the opportunity to capitalize on his sudden fame. Meanwhile, Creed is still smarting from nearly losing to some palooka no one has ever heard of, and arrogantly prods his newfound nemesis into getting back into the ring.

I always found Rocky 2 to be the most emotional and the fight is the best of the series, esp the music score during those sequences. Epic!
Rocky IV will always be my favourite. His training to Heart's on fire will always blow me away
Fun Fact: some of these punches are real. Sly and Carl got a little heated during filming and threw a few extra punches at each other.

This sequel was a total knockout! And it’s worth seeing how life throws new punches at Rocky, and how he not only learns how to handle it but to improve on it. The final quote is such an icon that it can bring anyone to tears of joy. Get ready for Rocky to face the Eye of the Tiger! 🥊💛🖤✌️

I love the Rocky movies, but I think we can all agree that the boxing in these flicks have never been terribly realistic lol. You simply can’t become the heavyweight champ by taking multiple uncontested hits to the face lol. Ironically, “Rocky Balboa” probably has the most realistic fight of the original 6. Despite Rocky’s age being a factor, in terms of the technical aspects and strategy, his fight against Dixon was a more accurate depiction of boxing. I definitely appreciate the Creed movies for rectifying this to a degree. They’re still heightened fights, but at least we see some defense lol

The lead singer in that group of guys is Frank Stallone, Sylvester’s younger brother. He put out some music back in that era. Oh yea and that was his real life baby they used in the film, Seargeoh Stallone.
In response to your title: Yes, I always thought so too. The first Rocky won the Oscar for Best Picture, the second Rocky deserved that also imo. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe The Godfather part II was the only sequel to ever receive Best Picture.

@@megafan2000 Ahhhh. Yes I didn't think of that. However I do remember thinking that all three LOTR films deserved Best Picture, but they held it back for the third - honouring the whole trilogy at once by honouring the third so they didn't have to give the Oscar to a fantasy film on three consecutive years.
28:58-29:00 Paulie slapping the package out of her hand and saying "feedng these god damn squirrels" is one of my favorite Bury Young acting moments. You could almost feel his pure frustration with Adrian.
And I was annoyed at her as well not letting him fight knowing that she's pregnant and that they need the money.
Carl Weathers was 31 when he filmed Rocky 2.
Rocky isn't a 'fighting movie', you're right, it's a 'fighter' movie. Same as Cinderella Man, except that's a true story. Movies about a fighter, with a little bit of fighting thrown in. Both top notch story telling.

Watch Close Encounters of the Third Kind theatrical version. Carl Weathers plays an Army guy. It is a cameo but I think his performance was good

Dude you do realize reacting ....doesn't mean you have to talk through EVERY scene you are in. Geeezzz its like watching a movie with that friend who doesn't shut up the entire movie. Sometimes its ok to just WATCH and react. This was painful to hear you gab through the entirety of such a great movie.

What is the point of a reaction if he doesn't talk ? Some people blamed him in the past cause he wasn't able to give a good and enjoyable reaction, he was just like "oohh", "damn", "oh man", "eeeehhh"... and now you blame him cause he talks too much... give the man a break
My favorite of the Rocky/Creed series but love them all
Movies with Carl Weathers:
Force 10 from Navarone - Awesome WW2 movie with Carl Weathers and Harrison Ford. All Star cast with some great set pieces.
Predator - This is one of the best and most famous as well. Carl and Sly teaming up.
Action Jackson - Carl Weathers in a lead role as the man himself. A cheesy 80s action movie with alot of awesome in it.
Happy Gilmore - You know it, you saw it and it was great.
Arrested Development - Great tv show with Carl Weathers playing himself in a few episodes.
Semi Tough - Small role in a funny football movie. Not as fondly remembered as other sports movies but its well done and funny.
Amazing sequel Rocky II starring by Sylvester Stallone. Thank you Timothee next time Rocky III

First rocky movie it was little ok
I whole heartedly agree the second is better than the first. You will notice how art imitates life with this series much like Rocky going from a nobody to a somebody. Stallone was very much the same… and both have a lot of ups and downs. Mostly downs though.😅

The fight is better forsure. I don't think part 2 is better , remember part 1 had many obstacles and low budget .

No. It is not. Rocky II is good, but it's a primarily ego-riven project just like most of the films in the series up until the more heartfelt Rocky Balboa.
