After reclaiming the boxing championship title, Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) plans to retire and live with his wife, Adrian (Talia Shire). However, during an exhibition match, Rocky's friend Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) is mercilessly beaten to death by hulking Russian newcomer Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren). Rocky vows payback against Drago and flies to Russia to train for a Christmas Day fight. Despite their different training methods, Rocky and Drago both wage a long and intense match.

"I must break you" is one of the most iconic 80s line next to "I'll be back."
Nah bro. It's if he dies he dies 🔥🔥
@@JakeCrowley459 nah bro it's "WOMEN WEAKEN LEGS"
Mickey
@Thadd that's the 70s.
"To the end." As well.
100%
Dolph Lundgren was really strong as a bull during the filming. At the time, Stallone even jokingly challenged him to punch him in the chest with all his power, believing you're not that strong. The conclusion was that Stallone had to go to the hospital, because the blow to the chest was so strong that he suffered a heart attack.
Dolph was a national champion in kyokushin, they are used to throwing and taking bareknuckle punches to the body.
Rocky fought through hell and back to avenge Apollo and defeat Drago. That mountain scream was powerful. And the workout music is always great
This movie left me two of the best advices that my dad gave me when I was a kid, and specifically when Rocky checks on Apollo after the match.
1- You must know when to stop, because that can save your life or a friend's life.
2- It is better to have quality friends than quantity friends, he literally said to me "it is better to have more fingers than friends, if those friends are able to risk their lives for you."
And until this day, I have put those advices in practice. And it is true, I have less friends than fingers, but each one of them are very dear and loyal.
And I insist, you have to watch Creed, specially Creed II for long time storytelling!
I remember watching this in the theater and what a great experience!!! Definitely one of my all-time favorite movies!!!
Being Swedish, when I was a kid it was such a cool thing to have a Swedish actor (I use the term loosly here hehe) in a big movie like this, opposite a giant action star like Sylvester Stallone. :) I was 11 years old when this came out, and as far as I can recall, this was the first time I witnessed a Swedish actor in a famous movie, so Rocky IV will always be special for me.
I, too, am Swedish, and feel the same way. Especially since Dolph Lundgren worked as a life guard at the place my mother went to, at the time when she was just a kid, so naturally she and my grandmother were surprised to see him on television.
Yeah it must have been exciting. I myself get excited whenever Australian actors appear in American movies.
Rock and Apollo's story was a bromance before the word was even invented.
100%
The soundtrack to this film is awesome!! This is the first Rocky film I saw. I was 11 years old when this came out and it seems like this was the first MTV Rocky film. I hope you watch "The Karate Kid" soon.
Hearts On Fire, Burning Heart and No Easy Way Out are great songs.
This is my favorite movie of the whole Rocky franchise. The music is amazing.
Stallone saw that robot when he took his son to a pizza arcade for his birthday and thought "I gotta put that in a movie" (celebrities are weird)... there was a similar robot at a pizza arcade place I used to go to called Circus Playhouse.
based
the robot and cars convey the fact that Rocky is now very rich!
12:33 it was at this moment he knew he fucked up
Stallone was absolutely shredded in this movie's final fight lol
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned this but there’s a director’s cut for this movie with more scenes I recommend you watch it
You gotta remember this was made during the cold war
My favorite Rocky film 😅
Probably the most 80s movie of all time.
Also an all time classic, what a fucking film.
What’s amazing about the Rocky franchise is that it’s more than about boxing. It’s about life is the biggest match you fight, and you never know what punches it’ll throw at you. By this point, Rocky has won the heart of his true love, started a wonderful family, trained under a great mentor, turned an enemy into a friend, and has honored their memories by fighting on. Can’t wait for Rocky V! 🥊🇺🇸🇷🇺❤️🤍💙
This one has definitely one the best training montages of the rocky series, also the music fits perfect. But don´t expect to much from Rocky 5 :D
My favorite line from this movie
You cut him, you hurt him! YOU SEE!!
HES NOT A MACHINE!!! HES A MAN!!!!
And it like how immediately after drago says rocky is made of steele
The Rocky movie franchise are very awesome.
One of my favorite movies
The Extended Cut is a lot more intense and has a longer finale fight. It’s truly one of the best movies of the series aside from Rocky II, Rocky I, Creed & Creed Part 2. Rocky III will always be great. Also they don’t have the robot scene in the extended cut since the robot thing didn’t make sense when it came out
This is my favorite Rocky movie
fun fact : the sovjet parts where fillmed in canada and dolph lungren said that the vegas scene where the ring comes up his reaction was real
The best movie in the franchise. I love the Montage in this movie Hearts On Fire, Fun facts: During the filming of this movie Stallone asked Dolph to really spar with him. Stallone ended up in the hospital cause Dolph punch him so hard he moved his heart . Another fun fact Brigitte Nielsen the actress who plays Drago wife was the real life girlfriend of Stallone during the time of the filming. :) Dolph Languren movies like The Punisher 1989, Univiersal Solider, Showdown In Little Tokyo , I Come In Peace, Also Rocky helped stop the cold war :)
me watching timothee watch Apollo vs drago omg HE DOESNT KNOW. I'm bracing myself.
I love how in the world of the Rocky movies, Rocky was part of the reason why the Soviet Union collapsed.
We need a Rocky type hero even now after what's happening in the world today.
You should watch the extended version of Rocky 4 with letterbox scope.
Omg the best ever
Apollo last match and his entrance is awesome his death hurts a lot
He should have at least have information about Drago’s strength
Rocky’s training is incredible
Rocky fighting Drago was awesome
You ask if Apollo is going to lose..... Yes, yes he does 😂
Training so epic
In this film, Stallone wanted to deal with the Cold War, but for me what makes it unforgettable is the friendship between Rocky and Apollo, which leads him to want to avenge his friend, and the indestructible union between Adrian and Rocky.
I have learned that in the new edition of Rocky IV they have deleted the scenes of the robot. I don't get it, they were hilarious. I hope Stallone hasn't fallen into the politically correct trap. Granted, the reprogramming of the robot was macho, but Paulie was like that, macho but harmless and endearing.
And that my friend is how Rocky Balboa ended the Cold War. 😮
I wonder how Drago would do in real life as a boxer.
He threw some good punches. But yea dolph is an exceptional martial artist in karate
Dolph Lundgren was a boxer. There actual footage of his boxing matches here on YT.
The line most repeated after this movie was "If he dies he dies"
That is Apollo's wife. She was also in Rocky 2 and maybe 1. Not sure on 1 but definitely 2.
A lot of people seem to focus on the issue of throwing the towel in as if it would have made a difference. Literally right before Apollo took his last punch the ref tried to pull Drago off of him, but Drago pushed the ref off and continued to hit Apollo. So what difference would the towel have made since the referee couldn't stop the fight either way?
I see the same thing between Tim Tszyu and Harrison at the end of their fight.
Fun Fact: the lady who played Ludamir Drago was another one of Stallones ex wives.
Crazy fact: Dolph hit Stallone so hard he had to be in intensive care for a few days.
You should watch the director cut of Rocky IV.
Someone mentioned it already. But Stallone made a big mistake asking Dolph to hit him for real. Dolph is actually a Kyokushin black belt and much bigger. Funny thing about Dolph is that he actually has a degree in chemical engeneering as well. Interesting guy.
Интересная деталь: Сталлоне предложил Драго перед съемками подраться по-настоящему. В итоге после первого же удара Сталлоне увезли в реанимацию и он пробыл в больнице 8 дней)))
U should watch both versions of Rocky 4 but either one is a classic.
I can't wait for your reaction on Creed 2....how Drago dealt with lost fight to Rocky
Apollo (the character) is supposed to be out of shape in this movie but it doesn’t help that the actor is probably in the best shape of his life in this film lol.
Also No Easy Way Out is the greatest song of all time. I don’t care how many times I’ve left this comment on Rocky 4 reaction videos. I’m still gonna do it.
And ONE MORE THING a lot of people miss. Drago at the end of the 14th reached his hand out to touch gloves with Rocky out of respect, but Rocky refused.
This film ended the Cold War
Apollo get killed by Drago and a year later by a predator
He was super overconfident until he realize he is super powerful. That’s when he lose confidence.
And later in Happy Gilmore...this dude always dies!
R.I.P. Pauly #2023
I think this one's the best
Drago! Drago! Drago!!!
I Iike the bit where the son, some friends & even the robot are watching near the beginning & the son says, "that's my Dad."
One friend replies, (we know; what do think we are? Nerds.)
Can't wait until you react to Creed 2, where Ivan's story is expanded
Hey great reaction. You made a comment about the difference in body weight. That doesn't define how strong you are believe me a much smaller & less muscular guy can defeat a bigger person I know I've done it.
Sweet
Drago's heart grew three sizes...then he disappeared under suspicious circumstances.
great
Ivan Drago's wife in the film was Arnold Schwarzenegger's in real life.
Wrong... she was Stallone's.
Awkwardly enough the Rocket location never got as far as Central United States with all the fights taking place in the surrounding Los Angeles arenas. Never seeped into Russia or Las Vegas
I know what you mean tim stay strong man chin up at least rocky got him rocky 💪
It's kind of ironic that the first punch Rocky lands on Drago is a right hook given that he's a southpaw, or maybe that was intentional?🤔
Drago would have known Rocky favors his left, so would he have been less likely to expect a right?
People ask how the Cold War was won. I always tell them, “not with nukes, not with guns, but with Sylvester Stallone movies!”
U almost 100k yay I hop have 100b sub😁😁😁
So close!
Can u react to rocky 4 directors cut
It’s a nostalgic movie for sure, but the idea that you can learn to get along with each other by punching each other in the face until you both have brain damage is such an 80s American action movie cliche. They make all the violence seem super cool until the end, where they go, “wasn’t that cool? You know what’s even cooler? Peace!” That’s like telling a kid that their video games are too violent. Everyone is pretty much a stereotype here. I’m not saying it’s bad. It’s just…80s. It happens with every movie franchise. Eventually the characters aren’t very fresh anymore, so it’s just cliche after cliche. The robot in a Rocky film was the icing on the cake. But I guess every movie series needs an all out spoof.
14:40 If he dies he dies. One of the best lines in a movie ever 🔥🔥
One of the most cold hearted ones.
@@jdogjohnson382The way he says it is next level 🔥
Poor Apollo Creed. He shouldn't fight Ivan. He's too strong and violent

Can you react to Murder drones it’s really good
How is it an average if he hits it once?
Its about the Cold War.
SpongeBob SquarePants The Movie
Do you speak French to Clariss? 😉
Now we’re at the weird stage of the Rocky films. The next is the worst of the franchise. I haven’t seen the Creed films so I don’t know if they are good or bad in comparison.
Also Dolph Lundgren is a genius with a couple of degrees in chemical engineering including a Masters.
Rocky 5 gets way too much hate but I will agree it’s the worst of the franchise that’s why I’m so glad Stallone came back 16 years later for Rocky balboa
The Creeds are nearly on par with the first three.
Can you post video twilight please
Vitamin S.
Can u react To The Parent Trap 1998
Boo? This aint Halloween
Boxing as a fighting sport is a combat and that is what strikes me with ignorant women, this sport you know what you are going for, if time dies, period, also that guy being a bully American in part I ask for it, Drago concentrated more strength towards his opponent by channeling that attitude, and that is something that is worth gold, I box myself and they have made fun of me because they underestimate me, the worst mistake of a fighter, but there is an eternal code of the warrior, enjoy the Fight no matter what, ordinary people don't understand that
