No surprises in Gaza, Palestine, Israel : The END of RADIOHEAD ?

    Bonjour Dalila, Hi everyone,
Radiohead has always been a moral music band full of integrity. Thom Yorke has always been very politically engaged (remember the Tibet / Hail to the thief eras?). He was some kind of a modern John Lennon.
However, the band chose to remain silent during the whole conflict in Gaza, Rafah, Palestine, Israel. No alarms and no surprises (except Ed O’Brien who called for a ceasefire).
Jonny Greenwood has even performed music in Tel Aviv during the massacre in Rafah a few days ago.
What do you think of their silence ? Does it change the relationship you have with their music? What will be the future of Radiohead ? Will they ever produce politically engaged music and support any other political cause again ?
Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.
    Peace & Love for EVERYONE
    Dr F.L.

Feel the same about them…I was expecting them to be among the first to raise their voice to call for a ceasefire….

Saw this video mentioned in radiohead's comment section on instagram. Needs more views. Absolutely correct. How much of a hypocrite do you have to be to gain fame from art that is about being human, and then not address the glaring human rights violations in Gaza? Very disappointing. I love this band's music. It's not that hard to publicly make a statement about a war that started 75 years ago. That is, unless there's something (money) to lose. I've seen claims that Jonny Greenwood was seen protesting the Israeli gov't in Tel Aviv and Ed posted a statement. It's not enough. To be such a politically charged band and turn a blind eye... to innocent people being blown to bits for existing on their land.

We all love(d) their music and are all very disappointed. Well, Jonny was protesting for the release of hostages and calling for new elections in Israel : no words for the Palestinians. Also, I don’t think it’s a matter of money at all, it is just a simple biaised blind conflict interest through Jonny’s personal situation..I Might make another video about it,

@@DrFalfaLuta You are correct. It really is just a biased view because of Jonny's wife. Thank you for your video. If you upload another I'll definitely be seeing it :)

Grow up the situation is far more complicated then your childish diatribe makes it out to be. I'm sure Radiohead has sympathy for the issues you're talking about but they have the right to play wherever they want and don't have to alienate an entire country because a minority of it is toxic.

@@jameshannagan4256 You are in delusion. It is not a minority. Most Israeli society is based in a right wing, racist, supremacist ideology that dehumanises the other. You cannot keep the ocupation for so long without this moral corruption. If music builds bridges, why haven't they ever played in the west bank, Gaza, etc?

Jonny posted a statement, and I think it was worse than his silence. He is trying to frame it like "people are silencing musicians because they are jewish". Very dishonest on his part

…and Thom Yorke chose to ignore that…would you take advice from someone who has spouted anti semitic views openly? Check out the new documentary on Roger Waters if you want the TRUE definition of HYPOCRISY. Thom Yorke is just fine.

I stand against every form of injustice. / racism. Show me evidence that Roger Waters is antisemitic. You don’t need to be an antesemite to stand against what IDF is doing for decades. Check my other video : Damon Albarn, Massive Attack and even some Radiohead heroes (REM, Talking Heads) are against that. Do they have antisemitic views too ? Peace.

Further to Roger Waters hypocrisy, REM is in support of Radiohead. Why do they need to say anything at this point? Why are they being accused of believing things when I reality you have no idea what they are thinking. Most people who know the band trust them because they are good people, unlike people who just want to hate and tear them down for likes on social media.

@@mickyhanlin4230 1) Nobody wants to hate them or tear down anyone : they have a voice and refused to use it for a call for peace 2) They always wanted to show they are a human band and politically engaged (that’s how also they got many fans) but now they are so silent, this is pure hypocrisy and interest conflict. The only one who called for a ceasefire is Ed O’Brien. 3) Do some research about REM. Peace. Dr FL

@@DrFalfaLuta I don’t see any hypocrisy though. Thom has said he doesn’t endorse Netanyahu so you can gather from that he doesn’t like what he’s doing and believes in peace. Thom doesn’t like being told what to say and how to act and I think that’s fair enough. To cry hypocrisy is pretty silly really. So because the US is complicit in genocide is every band who plays there a hypocrite? Are they all complicit in genocide? 🇵🇸
