This is such BS - if LD was doing that at the plate, then the catcher of every team they played against would hear the conversations or catch on to what was going on AGAINST his team and would either call out the Umpire, tell his coach and/or have it reported to the league/Commissioner for investigation. Remember this guy is a pathological liar and con-artist fraudster.

i don't doubt he paid money for PI work, but he's delusional if he thinks this is why he led the league in walks for ONE season. that same year was the ONLY season he played in every game, and had nearly 800 plate appearances (2nd highest single-season total of ALL TIME) which was more than his previous 2 seasons COMBINED, and nearly his next THREE seasons combined. if you get 50% more plate appearances than the average MLB starter, you're going to accumulate a lot of walks.
