Been following the way of the playa. Was so satisfying yesterday when all 3 in my 4-some hit driver, all missed the fairway (2 into the other fairway, 1 lost a ball into the trees) and I hit the "safe" 7-wood and ended up left side of the fairway, 98 yards out. Got questioned why I didn't hit driver and answered, results speak for themselves, didn't need to hit driver, play the whole, play from the green back. Hit the GIR and two put for par, shot my lowest 9 holes with a 44 that included three, three putts!

I have been watching your videos for several years now and I can say that it has been the single best thing to ever happen to my golf game. I have played for over 30 years . I was struggling bad and trying everything under the sun. Finally after getting my temper out of the way and losing my ego did I finally go from in the 100's to the 80's in just a few months and actually shot in the high 70's a few times last year. Wadda teacher!!!

One of the most valuable things I've learned from The Baus is how to better manage my expectations and keep my ego in check. I would always play expecting to shoot at or near my absolute best scores and would get furious with myself when I mostly didn't get close to my best.
He's helped me see how unrealistic these expectations are. No golfer on the planet can play their A game consistently.

Now i take my 4 iron off the tee and consistently either out drive or out position my playing partners instead of slicing my driver into the woods. Your videos and mentality has taken around 8 strokes off my score. Broke 50 for the first time this weekend. Shot a 49 par 36! Thanks for everything boyfriend

I went back to only playing with 5 clubs after creeping back up over 100 after getting close to breaking 90 (92) and went from losing ~6-12 balls a round to having only lost 3 balls in the last 2 rounds and I shot 98-> then 96. I'm hoping to get even closer to 90 this weekend. I hit my 4 hybrid off the tee and it's ALWAYS in play and it goes ~205. Epic. My other clubs are- 6i, 8i, pw, sw + putter.

I bought a load of cheap balls, I only use those now, noticed that I really got used to putting with them . I find if I use a lot of different balls they all react a little different on the greens. Not really good enough to notice a difference on the longer shots, but a consistent putting ball has helped me.

Hey Matty (aka Baus!). Loving your recent content. Round today was exactly a hundo so didn't break the magic 100 today but... was really pleased that I played smart all the way and know where I could easily shave shots on another day. Good club selection, no just trying to hit it as far as possible, playing to GIOTG rather than pin hunting and playing to my par target not the course one.
Keep putting out the great vids

I watch dozens of technique golf youtubers... 99.9% of which I don't implement, they're just interesting. But there is only one Playa in Chief who teaches how to play golf (not how to play golf swing). Actually there are a couple others... Genevieve Ling and Brian Fitzgerald who are into strategic mindful golf. But Matt, you have taught so many people the WOTP, thanks so much for all you've given us. Of all of the golf video’s on TH-cam, you have the best going away. I am not going to shoot under par by watching an 8 minute video! Most of the video’s are hogwash! Here is an example of what you do right, Matt. I hardly ever used my 4 or 5 iron because I never hit them well. Now I do hit them well. Why? Because I don’t hit them as hard as I used to. Your advice to swing easy has helped me immensely, now I use my 3 hybrid, 4 iron and 5 iron all the time because I swing easy and hit good shots. Lastly, your video’s are the only that I know of that recommend golf course management. Using an 8 iron or a 9 iron even when you are 170 yards out make sense because you won’t hit the ball into a sand trap or into the water. In other words avoidance can and does pay dividends! Many thanks!

I think both score and distance improve when you stop trying to improve them. Improve the underlying fundamentals and just let the score/distance be a measure. Trying to swing hard to crush one or trying to force a hero shot for a better score just makes them both worse. Better to just treat them as a measure and focus on making the best swing you can make.

Been 4 years back into golf and simply put, I am just not improving and am pretty down about it and wondering if I should hang the clubs up. It is very expensive and time consuming and if I can’t improve and have fun then what’s the point. Example, played 18 a couple of days ago on a pretty challenging very hilly course - teed off on the 10th, par 4 hole set on a high hill, fairway out to about 220 with a hard dog leg left and the green about 120 down and up a slope with woods and down behind the green. I hit a 5 iron off the tee, as you taught me, no drivers just looking to set myself up with a good lie and shot 2, perfect right down the middle of the fairway looking directly at the green. I set up and then chunk it, it dribbles down about 30 yards right into the only bush to the left of the fairway. I was just sad. Who does that? I had a nice lie in the fairway, straight down look, and I punch it into the only obstruction out there. I was so embarrassed in front of the guys they paired me with. I love your video’s and your approach to the game, actually yours are the only golfing videos I watch anymore. I plan on doing the swing tweak assessment, then moving up to the tee box that is up by the ladies tees, and working on just punching out of the rough areas back into the fairway. Thank you.
