Hey Guys! The guitar featured in this video was sent to me from Donner and it is a Jazz Telecaster. I am happy to promote this instrument because it is a killer entry level guitar. Awesome Humbucker sound and it feels great to play. And worth every penny for aspiring guitarists. Links to the guitar and Donner site are in the description. Had a lot of fun recording this tune. Couple of things to note about the tab: In the intro I'm hearing Gibbons slightly bend the G string 1/4 step at the 5th fret. But sometimes he doesn't. I left out the bend to make it consistent for everyone to learn but if you feel like slightly bending that note (which is a C), go for it! In the first solo, I'm not sure if Gibbons goes back and forth between using his pick and middle finger, or ring finger. My middle finger feels natural for me, but ring finger is also cool to try. Last solo, I hit slightly different pinch harmonics. The frets are all correct. It would takes months of practice to get every single pinch the EXACT one he did, haha. So I felt out the pinches. Most of them I got in there. And that is all! Enjoy!
I got a crazy good deal on Donner’s regular telecaster on Amazon and love it. Kind of makes me mad that the build quality is better than some of the more expensive name brand guitars I own (especially when it comes to the fret work). Been eyeing other Thinline tele for a while now lol. Glad to hear you liked it.
This guy could possibly be the best out there. He can cover so many different songs and make them sound like the original. He must be some expert studio musician like ones from the Wrecking Crew!
Thank you for this! If you are planning to do more ZZ Top stuff, please do Rough Boy by ZZ Top!!🙏The solo at the end is *chef’s kiss* and I would love to hear you play it!🥺
If I hadn't left a comment it's because I just picked my face up of the floor. As you literally melted it, just so cool, and so accurate. Hey and let's face it, is this one of the coolest songs and solo's you've ever heard? You nailed it again.
Just starting to learn guitar I'll be happy if I can learn and play the intro the rest is something to aim for brilliant playing stay safe look forward to more videos
I saw ZZ Top as the back up band to Humble Pie, Peter Frampton on guitar, in Asbury Park in 1973. I had no idea who they were. Just goes to show how long and hard bands work to reach success.
It's an awesome guitar! I didn't see any issue with it other than I needed to set intonation and action a little bit. But it played great and sounded good to my ears.
@@Mr.Tabs.Guitar.Lessons I think it's fantastic that you play with such perfection and use a brand like Donner when so many snobs that can't play search for $4000 Les Paul's and a collection of high end name brand guitars
Donner good for the price. But it takes a GREAT guitarist to make it sound an feel like that. You most definitely got that feel in your bones . Great job. Alabama s a big fan.
Out-freakin standing! I have finally seen an awesome lead break down of this classic! Well done buddy. I’m a fan of Billy but I can’t find a video of his earlier days where he’s playing the studio version solo, even live recordings. He always seemed to play over with simple fillers and then catch a couple of the solo highlights, never the kick ass original solo. Anyway, I liked the pinch harmonic variation, very close and pretty cool. Nice playing.
I thought you have forgotten that little ol’ band from Texas. Released in 1973 La Grange has evolved to a boogie standard and as one of the most iconic Southern rock songs. By the way great beard 👍
@@Mr.Tabs.Guitar.Lessons dude you are amazing... and hilarious costumes please please move the camera so we can see your hands please put the camera near the bridge side pointing up the neck so we can see you shred clear so we see your hands on the strings not the back of your hands please angle the camera up the neck please th-cam.com/video/lDy5bAJlQzY/w-d-xo.html thanks I love your vids
I could grow a beard to my feet and back again before I could play this at a quarter of your speed. They could lock me in the woodshed for years...oh well. I can dream about it. Excellent lessons on all your songs ! Liked and subscribed !
You know that's another reason why Billey G is known for one of the greatest the HARMONICS, i dont think I've ever heard Joe Bonnamasa doing Harmonics, how about Satriani, thiers some great guitar players that dont do harmonics, anyway you NAILED IT MAN!! It sounded southern the way its supposed to sound,Ahh!!! Ja! Ja! Ja! Ja!
Saddened to hear Dusty Hill has passed on. A rock legend. RIP 🙏.
I know it’s so sad now only two members
Indeed he was. Wish I could've heard him perform live. Great tutorial, btw.
man was that really a year ago?
Yes say about Dusty Hill. Hey how long did it take you to learn this song via. tab? You did a great job!
He grew a massive beard in just one week
This happens to my friend when he plays "Legs".
Impressive
@Please don’t rimshot me r/woooosh

so well played.....ty
Fun fact: the surname of the only member of the band without a beard is "Beard"
It's a fact but I wouldn't call it fun ;D
I believe it was a requirement to be in the band: you have to have a beard. So that guy was creative 😂😂😂.
Ikr 😅 love Frank Beard
frank no beard 😅
You’re fifty yrs late with that observation.
Flawless! Even the pinch harmonics are spot on. You rock!
I was looking for this song yesterday perfect timing
Wow, the pinch harmonics are freaking precise!!!
Well done 👍
This is amazing. It would be great if You could do sharp dressed man
People don't understand how hard this song is until they try it. It's absolutely nuts!
The picking is not hard
@TheTriplelman I mean the lead parts where there's more advanced techniques like pinch harmonics n shit
Not all that hard. Killer, killer jam!!
Song isn't hard. It's one of those that's just fun to play. I have played 1,000 times harder.
@JamieCarter-wv8rp It's the pinch harmonics and continuously playing them accurately. The rhythm bit is a much easier, though.
I WAS JUST TRYING TO LEARN THIS SONG!!
I only hope you have as much fun making these videos as I have watching them and becoming a better guitar player.
Thanks Man.
Thanks!
What that’s generous of you. Thank you very much!
Great cover as usual, and thank you so much again for the tabs. The costume is pure awesomeness though!
Thank you! The costumes make it extra fun. I read that Ritchie Blackmore loved dressing up for the stage, and I definitely understand why!
@@Mr.Tabs.Guitar.Lessons I feel the audience deserves more than a T shirt and Levis.
It's a visual performance as well.

Can’t belive he grew a gargantuan beard in one week damn man high quality
Congrats. You played it exactly as listened by ZZ top.👏👏👏

I'm saddened also by his passing. But those pinch harmonics you played have cheered me up quickly. Thanks!

Grear choice. Absolutely love your channel.
Long story, when I worked at 93Q Houston, I got to sing and play with Billy and Dusty at a club 1989

Thanks Mr. Tabs for somehow getting Billy G to turn up on your show and dress up like you might to pretend you're him. Perfection!
Still better than anything I'm capable of and now I can set the bar higher with these tabs
Best dressed 'cove' on the internet. Pinched harmonics are a treat too.
Love the pinch harmonics.

Complimenti sei bravissimo fai dei tutorial stupendi con la tabs sei in grande grazie di tutto saluti dall'Italia.👍✌
Thank u so much Mr Tab🇫🇷👍🏼🍒
a tip to annyone who reads this,
there is a pickup change in the first solo from bridge to neck. I thnk it's when billy does the 12(g) to 11(b) part
Man you are bloody fantastic, Billy would be proud 🤘
hotel california cover plssss
That is a great idea
That aint happening. youtube police will kill it
It will be taken down before it’s even done uploading. The Eagles are notorious for blocking videos with their music.
That's odd, because I learned the solo from a video here on TH-cam
Ye. The pinched harmonics are great. it's hard to hone the skill but once you find the sweet spot it's a joy
Great tone
sounds great !!
Just like the studio Tres Hombres version.Fantastic.....Even Billy diverts from the original...
Bro you can do a tutorial of reeling in the years by steely dan, you are the best chanel!!
No esta bueno el chorizo 🐀💎
